The produce section is always fresh, with a great variety of seasonal fruits and veggies that often come from nearby farms. The bulk section is another highlight--perfect for stocking up on grains, spices, and snacks in an eco-friendly way. Plus, their commitment to sustainability is evident throughout the store.Staff can be a bit off putting sometimes like they're mad that I decided to shop for some food and it's a travesty that I made them go out of their way to have to work for a second. Other than all that the place is cool. It's in a convenient spot though parking stinks. They have good cream puffs and other sweet treats.

Bought a chicken there today. Was like warm and undercooked. Paid nearly twice as much as other local markets. Yes, they are specialty, but should be hotter and cooked.

It is terrible to see a good place go bad. This is not really a co-op anymore it is Karen club. The prices are way too high. I got harassed by a fat power tripping bigot who used coded racist language. The dehumanizing treatment was completely unprofessional and abusive. I have been a member for more than a decade and will never go back there after the way I was treated. The atmosphere is pretentious and it feels like a Whole Foods not a co-op. Maybe if you are rich white and smug, you will feel right at home and won't mind spending 25-50% more on basics so you can pretend to are making a difference. This has become a blight on the community and I hope to see this privilege on parade go away before they violate someone else's human rights.

pretty sure i got food poisoning from the deli in the back where the COOP makes sandwiches. felt fine all day, ate my sandwich, which the COOP also messed up, then at midnight it hit me. Vomiting all night and day. It was rough.I'll definitely be passing COOP for long while.

Moved to Santa Fe from France 3 years ago, so, grocery wise I've been very spoiled. The produce at the Coop is amazing! Prices are comparable to WFs but the quality is over the top better. The variety is great too. Also, so much of the produce is from local farmers... I really like that. The Coop also has a great selection of cheese... especially the goat and sheep variety which I appreciate. The meat department is also very good and stocked with local, humanely raised, grass fed products. The seafood section could use an upgrade however. Either people just don't buy enough fish to keep it fresh looking, or they haven't figured out what to do with "tired" fish. It is just not appetizing at all. Also, not impressed with their prepared food section... reminds me of the early days of health food stores: brown or beige, under seasoned and over cooked. Hard pass there. To end on a positive note, the body products & cosmetics selection is very good and less expensive than other places. There is also a decent selection of soaps, lotions, etc available in bulk. Overall I really like the Coop and find the staff to be friendly, helpful and polite. In fact, am heading there right now to pick up a few things for dinner! Thank you Coop!

Products are generally more expensive than elsewhere. For some products, like local feta cheese (which is the only reason I go, then wander around and see what's on sale that I might need). It's a reasonable price. I don't really understand why anyone would shop here regularly because the pricing is so expensive for the exact same product at other places. The exception is when they have sales and then they can be a good value or if one is looking for something unusual. But in general I find it outside of my price point.

Best produce selection and quality in town! They have a locally-grown produce section with some unique items depending on the season, as well as quite a variety of fresh veggies and greens from California. Everything in the produce section always looks fresh. The deli section used to be my favorite part of the store after produce, due to a good daily selection of salads, a changing variety of soups, and quite a few delicious recipes for main dishes. Unfortunately, in the last couple of years the selection in the deli, including the soups, has shrunk to half the variety they used to offer daily. Some old favorites that used to draw in new customers have been cut from the menu. This could hurt the store's sales and could lose customers. I wonder if this is due to the noticeable reduction in staff both in the kitchen and at the deli counter? The deli case used to be completely full of fresh prepared foods from the kitchen, and now less than half that space is given to items from the kitchen. The cashiers in my 20 years of shopping at the co-op have always been upbeat, helpful, and pleasant to interact with. Though there's been some turnover there in the last few years, the new staff are just as engaging as those who have moved on. The positive energy the cashiers exude enhances the experience at the co-op.

i was standing in line behind a man who paid for his groceries with cash. he pulled out a hundred dollar bill, at which point the young female cashier with the long brown hair reeled in disgust. "ew! gross!!!" she exclaimed, sneering at the hundred dollar bill. "cash is so dirty! now I have to put on my gloves." she proceeded to make a big, theatrical show of pulling on rubber gloves to take THE PAYING CUSTOMER'S cash, thoroughly oblivious to the fact that she's A CASHIER, and her job is to take customers' money, while also being kind and respectful to said customers, who very likely are co-op members. i went back a couple days later and was appalled to see this cashier is still working at the co-op. i'd wonder why, except i know that co-op management doesn't care about their customers on any level. way to take it to a whole new low, co-op.

I think La Montanita does a fantastic job in all departments. It has beautiful produce and the prices are fair. It is unfair to compare their prices to a corporate store. There will always be some naysayers wherever you go, but I have shopped here for decades and it is a true asset to Santa Fe. Love it!

Wow. I'm really amazed by all these bad reviews. I'm so glad the coop exists. It provides options that I can't find in any other grocery. It's a gem and I'm totally grateful for it. I've been treated once very poorly by a woman in health and beauty but that's all.
