Kokio Chicken

Kokio is located in a strip mall off of Menaul an absolutely a must try for a unique chicken experience here in Albuquerque.I will say that I recommend ordering ahead because if you don't, the wait can be a little while because they make everything fresh. But it's definitely worth it and again if you call head, that's the way to go.I will say that this is one of the few places that I recommend trying without the sauce. Love a good saucy chicken wing, but here the best way to do it is to go with the original.Their chicken is super crispy and has a unique seasoning.

Prior to Kokio opening and me trying every korean restaurant in Abq, hoping and wishing for I have finally found the place!!So far, I've tried over 60% of the menu items, and every single one has been pure perfection.I visited South Korea in sept & Oct of 2023, and believe me, Kokio Fried Chicken is cooked exactly as it is there. Tasting each bite of chicken along with a piece of pickled radish takes me back to my vacation in S.K.If you all have not been to KOKIO yet, please tell me what you are waiting for? Korean fried chicken done right. Popular location which makes it difficult to find parking, but well worth the stop.We had the chicken tenders and got a half dozen sauces to try them with. The cajun was odd, but the others were quite tasty. None of them were overwhelmingly spicy at all, but they have a good variety of flavors. The crispiness, texture, and flavor of the battered exterior was perfect. The chicken was perfectly juicy and tender. Enjoyed the honey rice cake and chicken as well, which was a nice combination.We definitely ordered too much fried food for lunch, but it was too delicious not to just eat it all.Will return to try the wings and other items.

Found this gem while randomly out on a drive. As newbies to ABQ, we were excited to have found a Korean place. The ambiance is a clean, small welcoming restaurant with enticing pictures of their food options. Be prepared to wait at least 15 minutes as their food is made to order. The counter staff was friendly and prompt. We ordered the following: - Drumstick plate in Korean Special sauce with friesThe sizes of the drumsticks were impressive for the price. The only complaint is that the drumsticks were pink in the middle and would've liked it to have been cooked more. Would reconsider getting wings instead of the drumsticks with the Korean Special sauce next time.- Crispy chicken strips plate in Garlic sauce with riceWasn't too impressed with this plate. The chicken strips were plain, not crispy at all and wished they were double fried or made crispier. The sauce is good with a little bit of a tangy taste. For being a garlic sauce, was surprised it was very green. The sauce went great with the fries. Overall a decent portion size altogether.- Honey Rice Cake with Chicken without any spice (for a young kid)My son really liked the sauce and says he would consider ordering this again. Definitely should eat when freshly made and hot.Would recommend and return to try other options.

Really good food! Lots of variety in styles of chicken and sauces. The teriyaki chicken bowl was tasty, with lots of fresh veggies, good white rice, and a flavorful sauce. The chicken tenders were perfectly breaded and fried. The fries were good. The coleslaw was just lightly dressed, which was just right. The sweet and spicy sauce started sweet and ended spicy. Drinks were in a beverage fridge. Standard wait time was 20 minutes, which was fine with us. Inside was nicely decorated and the explanation at the counter good. Already planning a return visit! Will probably pre-order on the website and pickup next time.

I tried Kokio with my friend and we thought it was tasty. It's a little hole in the wall in a strip plaza, and it was very clean. The man that owns it is very friendly and helpful in making recommendations. I tried the fried chicken strip basket with rice and the Korean sauce. It was tasty and very fresh, everything is made to order. My friend ordered the teriyaki chicken.

Excellent place for chicken ! I'm not a fan of the waiting so plan ahead if you have only Kokomo chicken priorities because there's online orders you are challenge against. Order wings and waffle fries the seasoning to the wings was tasty. I will return to try the chicken sandwich. Careful also the parking is very slim as the other stores have busy customers at the saloon and tattoo shop to a sandwich shop.

I have never tried Korean fried chicken before and this place was amazing. Even after the chicken got cold it was still super awesome. Would recommend a thousand times.

Overall: Kokio doesn't make the best korean fried chicken, but it does seem to be made with a lot of care.Food: 3.5Wing Plate: This meal comes with 5 wings, fries or rice, and coleslaw. I loved that the fries were super crispy due to the light batter. The wings had a nice glass-like batter, but the fat wasn't completely rendered out the way it normally is in Korean fried chicken. I got it with the garlic sauce which was perfectly sweet, garlicky, and buttery/parmesany.Service: 5I called for take out and it was ready before the estimated time. I appreciate the care that comes with the packaging. They thoughtfully left the box half open to prevent the food from getting soggy.Ambiance: 4Kokio Chicken is located in a strip mall with a small parking lot. It seems bright and clean, and it does have seating for dine in.

Amazing wings, I've been looking for Korean wings in the state for a while and was happy to see this new restaurant open. We were told it would take some time to get the food, so we got drinks next door and got a call when our order was ready. All of the flavors of the wings were good we recommend trying as many as you can. Our favorite flavors were the Extra spicy, Korean special and Honey bee. The extra spicy is hot we liked the heat but we switched flavors every other wing to cool off.The dumplings were also good and perfectly crisp but they didn't have soy sauce. Also the fries were just ok not much flavor but cooked well. Overall the food was good and the chicken was the best we have had in awhile. We can't wait to go back and try more items and flavors of wings.
