It's a beautiful lush green park for "golden hour" photo shoots! Huge trees, big play set (mulch), multiple swings, and a newer (not very fast) merry-go-round. It's pretty quiet during the week. The number of visitors has cut back dramatically since covid started. *It looks like Kit a Carson Park has a new sign and new name "Rio Grande Park".

It's a decent park in the southwest side of town. It was nice but a little dilapidated. Plenty of people playing and enjoying themselves and it was quite safe.

We went here for our Day of Service and I must say I'm very glad we did! Once you get into the park most of it is fenced off! It's pretty obvious that a lot of people come here for gatherings and outdoor parties (We found a lot of confetti) The good thing is that they have a ton of trash cans through out the park. It's got a few tables and there's so many trees that you can find a nice shade anywhere! Our students had a blast on the play area it's huge! 60 kindergartens tested this out making sure and from the looks on their faces you could tell they were in the moment. Because most of it is fenced it also felt safer then other parks which is very important. (Hint: if you bring your dog you can also walk them a bit further down the street and meet all kinds of dogs! )

What what? The first to review this place? For shame. The Good: First and foremost, the BEST tire swings in Albuquerque, two of 'em. I know because I've searched, tormented my biceps and overjoyed my daughter hustling the tire swing at Summit Park, that thing sucks. Not here. And the rest of the park delivers. Cool play structure, big and little kid swings, slides, you know. A terrific place for birthday parties (but be wary, everybody's here on the weekend), and the lawn that stretches north toward the country club is a perfect spot for Jesse to bask in the sun, content that he escaped The One Who Knocks. Lush, lots of trees, perfect for shady s*it.The Bad: Sand. Not cool for the hot summer. No drinking fountain, no bathroom, kind of ridiculous for a park this size. The Verdict: C'mon, the best tire swings in the city. What more do you want?

For many months I took my small Boston Terrier dog Molly there to play (on a long leash) in the lush grass which she did not have at home. But she was recently killed by another dog that was off leash. People routinely take their dogs off leash as soon as they enter the park despite rules against it and the fact that a dog park is literally around the corner. I don't see how small dogs, or small children for that matter, can feel safe in the park as long as this continues.
