On of my favorite gyms I've been to (and I'm not just saying that for the cost for military families). Several cardio rooms, large basketball courts, weights, family activities, and several group fitness classes. It can get crowded, but I've never had a problem getting the equipment I needed. One thing I haven't liked in the past few years was the change to allow non-military members and Sandians full access to certain base facilities like this one. I know it helps the fitness center stay open, but Sandians shouldn't expect full privileges to everything on a military installation (just because someone spoke up that it wasn't fair)

When I first walked into KAFB's Fitness center I was blown away and it wasn't in that good way.I'm amazed, because having multiple Commands here you would think that the money to care for the Fitness Center, and thus, caring for its people would be plentiful. It's not the case at all...The facility is a hodge-podge of machines and rooms thrown together. Yes, they've adapted and overcome things, but at what cost. The cardio machines are run down, and half the time things aren't working the way they could be. I can't lie, but I'm saddened at the state of what could be a glorious fitness center.I can't go on further... I'm depressed thinking about the everything that is KAFB. Hopefully they come into a vast amount of end of the year funds, and are able to update things... The staff, and us the people deserve it.

Things have changed tremendously over the last couple of years. No more tiny packed rooms, but at the cost of a basketball court. This has allowed more room for weight lifting. Combine that with a good size cardio room (Treadmill/elliptical/stair climber) and this is a great gym. Lots of new equipment, pool, racquetball and a remaining full size basketball court. If this same facility were off base you would easily pay $75 a month to join. Sure there are downsides to insanely old DOD facilities and this gym has the usual. Heating/cooling is not ideal, but usually comfortable. Men's locker room lacks ventilation, so prepare for a heavy stench of humid poo with a hint of too much axe body spray. Tip #1: the crowd consists of young Airmen. These guys and gals do more strength training than your typical gym crowd. They lift weight, they don't walk on the treadmill at a steep incline holding on for dear life for an hour. During peak times the cardio room may be empty and the strength training area may be packed. Don't be surprised to see a piece of equipment held hostage as a 19 year old does different squats for an hour. Tip #2: if possible avoid peak hours. Military = structure. This means 1130-1 and 4-6 are busy. You better be flexible with your routine during this time.

The facility is now open 24 hours 7 days a week so you can come and get your workout on. They have not opened the racquetball court as of yet but it may be coming soon to be available 24 hours 7 days a week.

First time on an airforce base. This gym is nicer than most army bases and isnt too crowded. The parking lot doesnt equate with the size of the gym and all its amenities, so if the parking lot looks full theres still plenty of room inside.

Whats not to like.. Free membership to anyone who has access to the base they also recently updated all the cardio machines and some of the weight equipment which is by far nicer than Defined Fitness. Weight rooms are a bit odd as there are 5 rooms each room has different weight equipment but for free no complaints here.

Limited and outdated to say the least. The set up of this gym is awful, definitely one of the lowest quality AF fitness centers I've been to. Money is dumped into machines/treadmills and not ensuring updated equipment is provided (specifically for functional fitness). Any suggestions/surveys/comments for improvement are met with harsh criticism and zero action. Nothing much has changed at this facility in 8 years and it probably never will.
