Kilt Check Brewing Company

Visited on a Sunday afternoon with four others. It's a newer place with a laid-back vibe. The owner was working the bar and dealing with some refrigeration issues that made the beer not quite cold enough - but he assured me that problem was resolved and the beer was getting colder by the minute. I had asked for the beer menu and he told me he knew the menu, so he said that the Cream Ale (?) was the largest seller and so that is what I had. My fellow beer travelers had an assortment of beverages - some ciders. They thought that they were ok. Two of the men ordered the Scottish ale (?) and liked it a lot. I'm not clear on the actual names since there is no menu, per se. I give the owner a lot of credit for being there, running the place, brewing, - It is truly a labor of love and it shows. Well done! My only comment and suggestion is to get a beer menu printed. I would love to see the names, styles, IBU ratings, and ABV ratings too.

Depends on your taste, but we found that the beers were definitely styled for the brewers taste buds-not necessarily true to the type of beer. But it was nice to be somewhere that didn't have all IPAs. Difficult to get server to give us a flight and tell us the beers and some history. Almost like they expected you to know. A bit on the snobby side for what they offered. Service was slow and not particularly personable. Interesting. But if you want to hear old stories or hang with smokers might be the place for you.

Mike is awesome y'all. He has beautiful stories of brewing experiences since '95 around the US. I love stopping in breweries across America and meeting the people who love what they do. Mike is one of those people. The beer is strong and the atmosphere is wonderful.

In and out in 1 beer or less. We stopped by this place on a recent visit to ABQ and it's a little quirkier that we're used to. We literally had 1 beer each- well, 1 cider and a beer, & we were out for a variety of reasons...So let's start with ambiance... it's definitely not your hipster run of the mill brewery. Tucked away in a little commercial lot, it's a mom and pop place. They had some trippy Deadhead band doing their thing on a Saturday night. The decor is about what you might expect from hobbyist brewers- lots of 'vintage' (aka old) Coors beer cans and growlers.The beer itself was...beer. Hubs had his go to - an IPA- which wasn't an IPA. Something about it was...off. I had the guest pear cider which was pretty tasty. We weren't digging the vibe (or the beer) so one and done. For being a craft brewery, it's disappointing to see such low selection and not a very good one.

Their own excellent beers, no filler, brewed on site. Laid back atmosphere, karaoke, blues, and other live music.

Not a big selection, but great beer and prices. The owner is really nice. Quiet hidden place, worth a visit.

The newest face to the ABQ microbrewery scene is Drafty Kilt, and as enthusiastic consumers of local brews, the hubs and I headed here on a Saturday afternoon. The owner, Mike, is a Scotsman with a dream: Brew some damn fine Scottish-inspired ales for the dwellers of the Land of Enchantment. He has an impressive brewing system in the back (i.e., the former mash tuns and fermenters that fueled La Cumbre in its smaller days...Good juju? You bet!). He plans to have a small list of core beers, such as Cream Ale, Scottish Ale, IPA, etc., and play around with seasonals and random acts of brewing.The taproom boasts a simple and comfortable atmosphere of tables, a sofa, and a custom designed bartop by the owners. The walls are covered in Mike's beer can collection for a nostalgic stroll down memory lane of breweries of old. There are dart boards, TVs, and table games to keep you entertained while you knock back a delicious Cream Ale or Scottish Ale. But Mike is entertainment himself. His growlers poke fun at his Scottish mug with a delightful cartoon-version of his face noting "Drink til I'm pretty" (by the way his lawyer says "Drink Responsibly" :-)Come support a local brewer who has been part of the ABQ beer community longer than many of us could drink. Grab a pint or two, chat it up with Mike, and make it a place you call second home.Pro Tips:-It's tucked back in the office park behind Defined Fitness. Use Google and you won't have a problem :-)-Check the FB page for specials, events, and other debauchery!

Obliviscaris oatmeal Stout was excellent. I believe it is the best one I have ever had.I would have given at 5 stars. There is no food.You can order food and have it brought in.I would rather order my food where I order my drink.That place is very clean. The drinks are good.They have a dart area off to the left if you like to play darts. There is only one restroom it is unisex.Overall I think I would go back.

Such a great brewery best IPA I've had in a while. It has great potential. I would like to hear some 80's arcade music played as I have listened on Spotify. Games are fun as well. A little confusing as I found it named Boss Fight and it is still named Kilt Check. Will return and excited to try other beers :) it is in an odd spot and could do great with more exposure.

All I am trying to do is to see if Rudy's back to host Jam to night. It appears your phone is always off the hook ! The automated voice alway says the your mailbox is full , can I get some help here ?
