The super delicious taco plate!

Huevos Rancheros!
Enough said!!
The chile cheese fries were not that great. Red chile sauce was put to the side for some reason & was watery.
Taco burger had some pink but ate it anyways because I was hungry and wasn't gonna wait for another to be made. Regular tacos are better.

Kathy's has been our go to for over 30 years! It's a well kept secret in the South Valley and a place I recommend regularly when asked about good food. I love their daily specials and I think those specials are so reasonably priced. The Enchilada Plate with onions and red chili is always a consistent order. The chicharrón burrito with red chili is a must! Nothing fancy here, just a good satisfying meal every time!

Food is delicious, great portion and service is great. Asked for a custom order on a burger and they did it without hesitation.

Food is decent it takes awhile for anything you order even at times that are not so busy. I also dont think its the cleanest place I usually try to find the cleanest table I can but even the floors usually have food too. Since I don't like to dine in I prefer to take it to go but it makes me wonder how clean the kitchen is if they can't even keep the dining area clean. It will be awhile before I go back.

I had the carne adovada burrito today and it was pretty good. I personally think it could've used some more spices in it like garlic, oregano etc... Overall it was worth the price.

Kathy, if you read these reviews on Yelp, please know that the next time I eat at your restaurant I'm going to give you a hug and a kiss! I came by Kathy's today to eat at the urging of my wife. My wife claimed that this was one of the best gems in Albuquerque. So I had to try it. Well friends I'm proud to say my wife was right! Kathy's is located in the South Valley, an area I don't traverse but have become more interested in lately. Once I arrived, my wife told me that the little old building next to Kathy's was the original restaurant. It was cool to see where they came from to where they are. Once inside I was impressed with dinning area, very simple, fresh and clean. My first thought about Kathy's was this is a homey environment deeply involved in the community. I kind of had the feeling that this is a place where people have hung out for generations and everyone knew your name. The staff was friendly and inviting. The women who took our order was cool and I could have talked to her for hours, I love it. I ordered the Chicharone burrito plate and it was fantastic. For $7 you get a good sized burrito, stuffed with beans and Chicharones, rice and beans. You can't beat that. This is the closest to home as you can get in Mexican cuisine and for those that read my reviews, I alway say food that taste the closest to home is the absolute best. All in all, this being my first visit I'm pleased with what I ate and I can't wait for my next visit to try something else. Kathy's is worth a try my friends, form your own opinions and enjoy the food!

I was a bit skeptical to try this place, but I was so glad that I did. For $5.00 I got three awesome and delicious ground beef and potato tacos, rice, chips, and beans! I couldn't believe it, $5.00 for all of that!! The taste of all of it was seriously almost one of the best taco and rice flavors you can get in Albuquerque! I also ordered a tamale, which was okay. The masa (corn) part was tasty, but the chile was pretty bland (and not even spicy). This was very unlike New Mexico chile. Also there was a piece of grease in the meat which was a little unsavory.I also tried some of my Mom's food, which was a chicharron stuffed sopapilla covered in green chile, also being pretty delicious! I would definitely recommend the green chile over their red! It's a tiny bit spicy, but not as spicy as I would like (but who knows maybe it varies on a day to day basis, needless to say I will definitely go back to try it). The good part about this place, is they have Coke and Fanta in the glass bottles! I love being able to have a delicious Coke made with sugar and not high fructose corn syrup with my meal! For flavor fanatics, they also have one of the 100 flavor Coke machines (like at the Frontier), but they charge $0.50 for refills. However, if you get a large soda for $1.95 you probably won't need a refill. Also like another reviewer mentioned, they have daily specials which are pretty fairly priced! If you haven't tried this place, you have to! I totally recommend the taco plate! You won't be disappointed and you will save money (because the food is so reasonably priced)! The only thing I would recommend is for the owner or manager to loosen up. She doesn't come off as the friendliest person, but really the food makes up for it! In addition to that, I love the music that they play in there! Also as a concluding note, you can call ahead and pick up your order through a drive thru! I thought that was pretty legit :)Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed!

After stopping at Chicharrioneria Orocco, I looked across the street and found this brand new restaurant. I said what the heck and when over there to check it out.The place is very new and very clean. Scanning the menu I ordered a meat tostada and a tamale. They say they hand make tamales in their kitchen.1. The tostada was good but not distinguished. The shredded beef was a good feature. The sauce was red and tasted like most other red chili sauces.2. The tamale was excellent and altogether the total score restaurant score is 4 stars. Not as good as Cervantes, but very very close. This was certainly a good tamale stacked up against other in-state or out-of-state competition. I would have no hesitation always ordering their tamales if I was in the neighborhood.

We love Kathy's. It's just down the street from our neighborhood and we appreciate that they're open late. Their tacos are soooo good and I love the salsa that comes with it. Sometimes we'll just pick up a pint of beans which are really tasty. My husband had a burger there once which he really liked but it really is our go to place for tacos. Extra plus, they post a lot of funny memes about tacos if you follow them on Facebook. They have a drive thru but it's only for call ahead orders.

Nothing special about Kathy's kinda greasy food. Chili isn't all that. I guess it's fast food at best and they could have a lot better attitude and maybe smile a bit. The place could be a lot cleaner inside.
