Kakawa Chocolate House - Rufina

Kakawa chocolate is a wonderful experience! The woman working the counter was very friendly and helpful with recommendations and giving us samples of the elixirs and drinking chocolate. We ended up getting the Jeffersonian and the chili chocolate along with a selection of truffles and a dark chocolate and chili bar. Everything tasted amazing and the dining area was a very pleasant place to sit and sip chocolate.

What a unique place! We enjoyed a flight tasting of some of their chocolate elixirs. Every flavor was so distinct and very different than I expected. The woman who helped us was super informative and allowed us to try a few samples before selecting our options for our flight. We didn't buy any of the chocolates, but they looked delicious!

The mere thought of chocolate makes my mouth water but add the enticing aromas of brewing hot chocolate, and I'm panting like a puppy waiting for a chew toy!At Kakawa, we came on a day when just one person was behind the counter and three people ahead of us. Do you know what that's like?! As we silently screamed "hurry up!" the chalkboard selections touted a smattering of available flavors while the glass case full of tiny chocolates gleamed like dark jewels.When dining in, the hot chocolate is served in pretty ceramic cups though it wasn't steaming hot the way I usually like my HOT chocolate. Apparently I've been drinking it all wrong as there's a specific temperature that lets the flavors bloom on the palate.Packages of the chocolate blends also are available though quite pricey. I was lucky to be gifted a bag last year, and now understand all the hype! Check em out!

One of the popular attraction in Santa Fe. The chocolate drinks are actually really tasty. My favorite is their signature 70% chocolate americano and chili chocolate icecream. They recommend the float but actually it's more icecream than drinks. It comes with a huge scoop and a shot of drink.The chili chocolate is creamy and with a hint of spicy. Not over powering. Do try their different items to sample to find your favorite. The chocolate is a bit pricy: a small piece cost couple dollars. There are some tables for you to sit to enjoy with free wifi. Everyone in the store is very friendly, didn't complain that I tried so many different items until I decided to which one I like.

Nice hidden chocolate shop! The lady at the shop was extremely friendly and helpful with chocolate selection and tasting. We ordered a flight of chocolate to sip on it, and was offered samples of each chocolate and explanation of the different flavors. High quality chocolate!

Some of the best drinking chocolate and truffles I've ever eaten. So yummy! As a committed foodie, I highly recommend!

Love this place! Had some chocolate elixir samples and had some chocolates and baked goods. I don't think there is a thing in this shop that isn't good. I especially love the prickly pear, piñon, goat cheese and sage truffles. And the piñon caramels. I suggest if your not getting their somewhat sweeter blends of the elixir know they will be bitter and but I felt mixing in the whip cream on top made it sweet enough for me. The staff is all very knowledgeable and if you have any questions they were always more than happy to answer.

Great service and delicious chocolate! I came here specifically to try the flight of elixirs. Who wouldn't want to try shots of chocolate?!?! You get the pick 4 different flavors and they bring them out on a cute little tray, or you can get them to go. The American flavors was my favorite. Also, they sell milkshakes. We tried the horchata milkshake and it was very good. We also got chocolates to take home. They boxed them up beautifully and was very informative about the types and tastes. I definitely plan to come back next time I am in town

Lisa was very friendly and helped us decide what to try - which isn't easy with so many choices.Highly recommend the flight of drinking chocolates. They're all distinct and drinkable - not too thin and not too thick. The yuzu truffle was on another level with layers of flavors that come through in each bite. The mezcal truffle delivered the taste of mezcal without a strong alcohol flavor
