My wife selected this dojo 6 months ago for our son to go because of its Japanese authenticity. Sensei's approach to teaching is rooted in tradition where honor, dignity, respect and discipline is paramount. Expectations and standards are set high but they are enforced in compassionate and caring way. It didn't take long to see Sensei is tough but loving at the same time because he wants his students to be fully successful with Karate and more importantly, life! This dojo is first rate, and a complete gem in Albuquerque. Sensei Nagatomo is a phenomenal teacher, and genuinely cares about his students. He teaches so much more than Karate that I wish we had signed out daughter up sooner. She started at 5 but given how well he does teaching kids how to learn, how to focus, and how to behave in groups, she would have benefited much more if we had started a year or more earlier. His kinder class teaches kids through fun activities, and my daughter is excited to go every time (3x per week). This place is so great that my wife and I recently decided to join too. Technically we are in the adult beginner class, but he lets parents attend the kids beginner class with their children and make it a family event.
