There has been a concerted effort to hide this post, by giving false information to Yelp, and Next Door and by posting defamatory lies. Because of this concerted effort to hide the truth a PowerPoint closed caption video has been created transcribing the audio of the conversation with the security director. There may be two sides to any story implying deceit, embellishment, dishonesty, and aggrandizement by one or both sides. However, the recorded audio of the conversation can only present the conversation as it happened. The audio close caption power point is available on YouTube: URL:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upQiSAcn3IMor search in youtube for"Threat of Physical Gun Violence at JCC of Albuquerque"As a member of JCC, I participated almost solely in lifting weights and the use of the men's locker room. My experiences in those areas have been excellent: the weightlifting equipment is maintained to a high level, and the locker room, shower, and steam room are always very clean. The staff in the weightlifting area have been very helpful, especially, Chris who has given me great advice on how to exercise properly. But it is totally unacceptable for any member, employee and especially a security director to threaten with a badge and gun. See slide 22. It is totally unacceptable for the security director not to contact the offending party when that activity can result in injury and even death. It is totally unacceptable to revoke a membership because that member has reported offending, dangerous, and abnormal behavior. This offending dangerous behavior has been reported for over 40 days to JCC and has been known by employees and members for much longer than 40 days. There is no excuse for not contacting the known offending party. There is no excuse for not posting parking signs, "Consider Others Park Between The Lines, Violators Will Be Towed". The cost of 3 signs is less than $150. JCC has signs implying secure your belongings in the parking lot. Why do they have these signs and not similar parking signs? To say that I refused to leave JCC is deceitful, not supported by the video. To imply that I am upset at no longer being a JCC membership is highly misleading and defamatory. The last statement made to the Security Director is "If you want to revoke my membership, do it. See slide 23.To imply that I am the problem is an opinion. View and listen to the audio video of the conversation make your own determination.

Still one of the best gyms in Albuquerque. I've had my issues here, can't lie. But I keep coming back because it is a great spot. And if you like pushing yourself to the max, you can kill a whole day here. They say time flies when you're having fun, and my only ultimate wish is if this were open longer. Come give it a try. Everyone at this gym is cognizant of their responsibility to take care of the equipment you use, and to be respectful to your fellow patrons. Anyway. Come give it a try. Been coming for 3 years and have yet to be sorry I have.

Our family just had their wedding at this location. Although the hall is amazing, the ladies managing the event are quite horrible and treated our guests like they were children. Dirty looks and scowls all night long. Please don't use this hall for your wedding, these ladies will put a damper on what should be a happy and exciting time.Very disappointed with those ladies who put negativity into our family wedding!

My uncle had recommended JCC (and I saw the New Year's special they had been having), so I decided to stop in. Lots of activities going on and sponsored here- weddings, kids' play time, Nosh Fest, it's own cafe and pool. Location was convenient, but I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I stepped in. Everyone was extremely friendly here - from a young man that guided me to the office for a tour to a lady that stopped to talk to me in the hallway. However, I tried both the zumba class and the weights. I was hoping for a little more "shake it"/ hip hop-py zumba action, but it was mainly salsa. Still fun nonetheless. Upstairs, the weight room was crowded for a Saturday morning. Some machines had long wait lines and I felt that there weren't enough free weights (compared to assembling your own weight bars). Overall, I think it has a lot going for it.

I was waiting to go here all week to play some ball. I called the guy to see if there was a day pass and he said yes for $10. I was fine with that, but then when I get to the place today the old hag at the front desk said I needed to have a membership in order to do anything. She also had a really big attitude for nothing and was denying everything I told her about a day pass. I will never come back here again. Terrible service.

I only come here for the gym, so I'll focus on that. The good: They have a decent free weights/machines setup. They also have a lot of cardio equipment. One Olympic platform, and one power rack, so if you lift and it's busy, you might be waiting/swapping sets. That being said, this place attracts more of an old lady pumping the 2lb. dumb bells set, rather than the typical gym rat crowd. They have some basketball/volleyball courts, so you'll get those folks in from time to time. Not nearly as crowded as Del Norte Sports & Welness, but less square footage. Still though, if you time it right, you can have the place more or less to yourself. Also, they have a steam room in the men's locker room. Personal training and dietary help, if you need it.The bad: No towel/laundry service. There are no towels here unless you bring your own. Kinda lame. The men's locker room has no real amenities (no razors, no combs, etc.). The steam room seems a little finicky, but I am confident they're gonna fix it.Overall, this place is pretty good. We have a family plan that costs about half of what we were paying at Sports & Wellness, but there's a loss of amenities that go with that. You get what you pay for. No dry sauna, no indoor pool, no hot tub. It works for me, though, and I encourage anyone interested to take a peek. They do have a lot of classes, and daycare, etc., so that might be just the thing for other folks.

I just moved to NM after finishing my 3 year army service in Israel. I came to The JCC hoping to find familiarity, or at least friendly environment to have fun, and work out in. But the staff I encountered, except for the lovely secretary, was rude and cold. Since I just moved here, I don't have any credit and have very little money. So I asked if they might have an Israeli Veteran's discount. I expected that they probably would not, but did not expect to receive the snobby, inconsiderate attitude in the response I got, which was simply "No" with a condescending smile to go with it. This is obviously a business with no real attachments to Jewish people anywhere, except for seeking out their money. I will never give my business to the JCC in Albuquerque, and am extremely disappointed in how I was treated.

Waited 30 minutes for membership information. We saw the couple before us leave and waited a few minutes to be greeted by member services and it never happened. First impressions are everything.

I have gone to the Jewish Community Center gym the past two years. I love the calm atmosphere and every singe staff member has answered questions and helped with any question we have had. Somehow, I feel regenerated and rested after working out! The floor plan limits noise and the atmosphere is calm and supportive without all the racket I was accustomed to in a larger gym. Some of this is due to the floor plan with a circular gym area above basketball courts(below). The staff are consistently helpful and willing to help. Thankful I finally found this wonderful facility. The cafe is excellent (Rhubarb & Elliott) when I have ordered on occasion...large portions and well prepared! So happy to be working out in this facility!

My wife and I joined mostly because there is a pool, even though it's outside. Our complaints are with the changing pool schedule with no notice. There was no communication. They have a large database of members, and they don't send emails to let people know about changes or events. We were members for about a year, then dropped it for the reasons I've given. It had been nice to have a pool in the same place as the gym, but we've adapted.
