I first learned of Jane Butel and her cooking school almost 20 years ago. When i read about it, i decided that i would go to her school one day. Fast forward almost 20 years and here I am! We took a weekend class, and it was awesome. So much good food, fascinating stories, historical background and just plain fun. If you want to learn more about southwestern cooking, this is the place to do it!Oh....and we decided to fit in a 5 week, 4200 mile motor home trip around this class. The trip has been awesome, but this class was the purpose and the ultimate destination! Definitely worth it!I'm so glad that "one day" arrived! We hope to return for another class.

Jane Butel's cooking courses have been on my NM bucket list for years, and I finally dropped the cash to go out to her beautiful home in Corrales and learn the way of the chile. It was absolutely fabulous! It was a very small group (about 5 people) which allowed for a personal atmosphere and lots of tips and tricks shared among the group. Although this was a 7-hour class, the time flew, and we all enjoyed an incredible meal at the end of the night. Do not miss out on Jane's classes. They are truly something special.

The BEST experience in hands on preparation (and eating) authentic New Mexican cuisine. Jane teaches in a fun way, the science , tradition, techniques and history of Southwestcooking in her own kitchen. I enjoyed her skill, patience and humor along with new friendswhile she taught and demo'd fine prep and presentation of delicious menus. Excellent !

A friend and I just spent the weekend at Jane's cooking school. I learned more here in a very short time than I could have ever expected. With my new skills I acquired during this cooking class I'm very confident that I can make some of the very best NM Mexican cuisine that is available anywhere! The recipes we worked with have been handed down through the decades from Jane's grandmother. They are well tested and all outcomes are exceptional. Many of them are with far fewer ingredients that you will find in many of the recipes that are out there. You know the ones that wear you out just looking at the list if ingredients and steps to go through to make a dish. Jane was available throughout the day to provide help with techniques, assistance and to answer any questions you have. On top of it all, it was fun. I'm already planning to attend another weekend class, this time with our husbands. I would highly recommend any of Jane's classes to anyone that is serious about learning about cooking Southwestern dishes or just come with friends to have a great time!
