From someone who has been a part of the kickboxing and Muay-Thai community in Albuquerque since the late 80's, Invictus has been by far one of the of my favorite places to train. Coach Rick and Edgar are very knowledgeable and technical and you are welcomed into a ego free environment as soon as you step through the door. Everyone who I have come in contact with has been kind, friendly and willing to learn and share knowledge, rather it be jiu-jitsu practitioners or veterans of stand up, all are phenomenal people. I can't thank Rick enough for always welcoming me into his facility. I recommend Invictus to absolutely anyone thinking about learning martial arts.

I do not have enough room to describe how grateful I am for Invictus BJJ. These guys have been incredibly hospitable and have done a tremendous job creating an atmosphere/culture that anyone would want to be a part of. Equally important: the training and instruction are excellent. I spent a week in town for work and reached out to them before I came down. They welcomed me into the academy and insisted on no drop-in fees for me because I was a visitor. ZERO. No one treated me any differently than regular members despite being a visitor. The instructors took time to answer my questions and even helped me catch up on the things I wasn't around for the week prior. Everyone in the gym was approachable, regardless of belt-color, achievements, etc. Rick, presumably one of the owners, even invited another visitor and I out for the gym's regular weekly social hour after training one evening. The instruction and class structure are great. They say drillers make killers. We had plenty of time to drill the techniques we worked on during class. The professor was present and available for questions/clarification. I especially appreciated the common thread that ran through the training each night of the week. There is clearly some sort of common curriculum. This is different from some gyms I've trained at where classes may be put together haphazardly without rhyme or reason. Everything I had the opportunity to train on at Invictus was complimentary. There was plenty of time to free roll after drilling as well. This is a great place for all levels, including new white belts like me.

I am visiting in the Albuquerque area this week and contacted Invictus BJJ about dropping in to train with them. Professor Richard Mitchell was quick to respond via email and invite me to join any classes I wished to participate in, free of drop-in charge. I arrived for a Monday night class. This was the first time I ever trained outside my own affiliate dojo. You never know what you are walking into when you step into another BJJ dojo. First the facility was clean with a large mat for rolling. The class was well attended with over 20 people. There was an array of belts and even people just a few classes into their BJJ journey. I introduced myself to the professor and everyone on the mat. Everyone was very welcoming and the general vibe was what I am accustomed to at my home training facility. The technique training of the class was good and the coaches were great at correcting our techniques. I stayed to spar a round and everyone was very respectful of each other. Invictus is a BJJ dojo I won't hesitate to visit again and if I was to train long term in Albuquerque I would be looking to make it my training home. Thank you Professor Mitchell. OSS!

I've stopped in here multiple times in my travels, and I highly recommend The BJJ classes are well taught, and include training partners of all skill levels to work with. The facilities are clean and well maintained, but simple. The striking classes are also excellent, and also feature a wide range of skill levels. I've been doing BJJ and MMA for a long time, and this is one of the best gyms I've seen in New Mexico.

Great place to train, and a great outlet from the craziness outside of the mat. No egos, just martial arts in possibly the most friendly environment on the planet.

Was in town for business and had contacted the school prior via email. Was welcomed with open arms by the Instructor and students. Enjoyed the class and open mat after. Rolled with some great people. No mat fee, clean and great instruction. Wonderful people. I would recommend this academy if you need a place to train.
