This is the most impressive gift shop & store I've ever seen attached to a museum. In my quest to learn more about the indigenous people of America, finding authentic books & information has been difficult, but the Indian Pueblo Center is truly amazing. The prices are affordable & the cultural items, trinkets, etc are truly amazing.

Every time I am in ABQ, I come to the Indian Pueblo Culture Center. Of course, I'll stop in the gift shop. What I've appreciated, in the past, was the ability to find cheaper things to buy, as souvenirs, as well as some of the higher end items. This last visit, I was shocked to see so much expensive stuff, but not any variety. I expected to see examples of pottery, kachinas, and and jewelry. Now, I only really saw jewelry. Saw some bars of soap for $9 a bar. Same soap, at a store, on the edge of Old Town was less than $6 a bar.

There are museum gift shops then there is this one. No cheap Asian made trinkets cluttering the shelves, bins or hooks. Everything is geared towards products of the 19 New Mexico Pueblos and other Native American made products from outside of New Mexico. Pendleton blankets come to mind - made from wool, not polyester. There's bead work, sterling silver jewelry, jewelry using local stones, dream catchers and local pottery. Most can be used/worn on a daily basis or displayed. For reader or history buffs there are books written from a different perspective. It's easy to spend a lot of money here. It definitely a worthwhile stop. No admission fee is required.
