Bood stains on the sheets. What I hope to be piss stains on the chairs mold in the bathroom. Other then that it was great.

I needed a one night staycation and my usual spot was booked, so I decided to check out the Imperial! They were super friendly at check-in and was very happy with my room. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the bathtub was roomy enough for a nice soak. I like that soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion were in wall mounted pump bottles rather than using lots of little plastic bottles and the plants on the wall were a nice touch. There's a bar, a couple of food options, and a laundry room on premises but I didn't try them this time around. I definitely enjoyed my stay.

I finally stopped by this newly renovated Motel. What a sweet gem located close to UNM, downtown, and the airport. I was impressed at how well the renovations turned out. The Motel has a cool 60's retro style that gives a nostalgic yet trendy kind of vibe. The unique design offers a food hall with different dining options including a cocktail bar. As I walked in I was greeted by the bartender. She was very friendly and good at making old fashioned. I then ordered a pupusa from La Cocina de Maria. Maria was so sweet and her pupusa was so good. On her recommendation I had the chicharrón pupusa. The masa was crispy on the outside with a soft tender and savory inside filling. The pork was seasoned perfectly giving each bite that mouthwatering you hope to get from a chicharrón. It was also perfectly accompanied by a delicious tangy purple slaw and spicy salsa which elevated the dish. I definitely enjoyed this place. Everyone was so friendly!

Loved our stay at the Imperial, including the mod/retro vibe. Squeaky clean, beautifully designed and outfitted. We ate at two of the food court restaurants, and we loved the food and friendly bar, too. In sum: Welcoming, stylish, comfortable, clean!

This Motel is NO LONGER IN BUSINESS. The property has been completely transformed and is now call the IMPERIAL 505-514-2311. See the Albuquerque Journal Feb 5 for information on the new Imperial. This is not a rating of the new property, I have not been there but I need to put in some stars.

Horrible. I had called to get a smoking room and when he gave me a non smoking rooms, I told I requested a smoking room because I didn't want to go outside at night (bad area). He told me he doesn't have smoking rooms. I thought that was strange. I had my boyfriend call in and request a smoking room and he said, of course. We explained to him I didn't want to be alone outside. His response, "you will stay where I put you and just smoke in front of the office". I noticed from going in and out of the office, he charges people different prices. I paid 42 and a single mom walking in was told a room per night was 65. That is extremely unprofessional. He needs to post prices because he is all over the place with what he wants people to pay.

This place, which has been completely renovated and is now brand, spanking new, is all glitz with no real substance. It looks very nice, inside and out. Everything is modernized and has been redone to make it look like a retro hotel of the 1950s/1960s.There were problems with our stay, however. Problem #1 was that the television requires two remote controls, but the room only came with one. The desk clerk was unable to resolve this matter and was oblivious to the need for the additional remote. The maintenance person did, eventually, solve the problem, but not until several attempts.Problem #2 was that the room is cramped beyond cramped. There were two of us traveling, and there was absolutely no place in the room to put our suitcases or our clothing. There is no clock in the room, and there were not outlets near the beds to plug in our phones.Problem #3 was a more minor one: the "blackout curtains" don't even come close to blocking out the light of day. They also do not extend fully from side to side, which allowed passers-by to look into our room if they were inclined to do so.Problem #4 was that the front desk person on duty at checkout seemed not to care AT ALL about the problems that we reported. She said something like "okay, I'll let them know" AND THEN had the audacity to say "Well, if there is anything we can do to improve the property, just let us know." WTF does she think we had just done by reporting the problems?!?!My advice: Choose another hotel. There are plenty from which to choose. The convenience to the interstate and the Arts District just isn't worth the problems you're likely to experience if you stay here.

We had reserved rooms at El Vado. They transferred us to a sister motel, Imperial Inn, when someone wanted to rent the whole of El Vado. We weee given no choice. The imperial Inn was not a great place so we moved. We cleared the bill and got a printed copy. The credit they gave us then reappeared as a charge on our credit card along with a significantly higher bill - equivalent to 11 more nights! On calling the motel, they deny knowledge of this. It is on our card and currently being disputed.

Some of the reviews say it's a sound tight room and you can't hear the traffic... not true. You can hear EVERYTHING! Your neighbors, cars , the highway EVERYTHING! It's really confusing where the check in area is it's a coffee shop and the office. There was no guidance or instruction about the property Wi-Fi or were anything was like the ice machine, laundry or workout room. I kept having to ask the maintenance guy questions because the office was locked mostly at all times and they wouldn't answer their phone. One of my pillows wasn't clean. The rooms are ok for what it is because it's been recently remodeled. The food area has a a spot that make funnel cakes and fried foods and it smells the whole entire room including the bar. the smell of oil and oil in the air is so gross and intense. The bartender thought he was something really special... very cocky. I asked if they had a smoking area because I didn't want to be rude and I wanted to put my cigarette out in an ashtray and the property manager said just throw it wherever. We will not be returning
