I chose High Desert Yoga for the prenatal classes, three weekly is more than any other studio I've found. For first time students you buy your first class $16 and get a second class free. After that you can buy discounted punch cards. The studio is small, and the class was full. I agree with other reviewers, it got HOT! Hot and pregnancy don't mix well. Almost an hour into the class I was starting to feel nauseous and was going to leave, but one of my fellow students also spoke up and the teacher turned on the cooling system. Whew! (Next class I'm going to ask for the cooler sooner!)There are several teachers and I haven't had a class from everyone and once had a sub teaching. I was kind of disconcerted that there wasn't any music playing, the room was very quiet. The instruction was good, and lots of props were used for support. The teacher also made a huge effort to learn our names, check in with us often, and offer more props/supports if needed. We also went around during the class to introduce ourselves, tell what week we are in, and what we are struggling with which helped the instructor to give personalized advice. After the class several of the ladies chatted and shared information which made the class feel like a community. I was happy to meet other first time moms! I will be back throughout my pregnancy!

I've been coming here off and on for the last 15 years. Yoga was brand new to me when I started and from day one I have felt safe, protected, and well guided. I appreciate the judicious use of props and each instructor's dedication to meeting the needs of every individual student. Even when I can't make my usual classes I am at ease dropping in to other classes. I am encouraged to push myself, without ever being urged to go too far.

This place was very close to getting 5 stars! The only reason why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it was a little too warm. The AC or swamp cooler was taking a long time to respond. I went to a prenatal yoga class, which was awesome. They have tons of props to use to support growing bodies in many different poses. Avery the instructor was very helpful and had great modifications. It is a little pricey. You can save some money by buying a package. Also they offer a student and teacher discount, which is awesome.

I came here for prenatal yoga. I got a package of 10 classes as you get a discount since the drop in rate is a bit high. I have taken the class in Tuesday afternoon and in Saturday morning. Both of them are great. I definitely recommend this studio. The room is big and though a bit warm still good. I just drank extra water which in the end is good for the baby. Will continue attending for the duration of my pregnancy. It's also a great place to meet other pregnant ladies :)

I really love both of High Desert's studios and have been studying with various teachers since 1997, especially Kim and Zoreh. I took the teacher training some years back and grew tremendously in my practice. Both studios, one in Nob Hill and the other in the North Valley adjacent to Betty's, are attractive and provide all the props you could ever want. The special trainings with yoga teachers from other states and countries are wonderful. Beginners and advanced practitioners will be equally comfortable establishing or deepening their practice. I am grateful for the gift of yoga.

I was pretty impressed with this place and happy to have found somewhere I can bring my baby and get a workout. My baby is a huge part of my life now and its not always easy trying to find someone to watch him while I work out. My workouts now days either consist of walking the baby in a stroller when its nice out, or getting in a quick workout video while he is playing or napping. I came here to attend the mom and baby yoga class and was very satisfied with the whole experience. It was my first time here and I found the parking lot nice and spacious as well as the whole ambiance of the studio. Finding the entrance to this place was a little tricky because there is a hidden entrance on the side that leads to an outside courtyard, but there are other businesses in the same building as well so I had a bit of an issue getting in. Next time I will know where to go. I was hoping to meet other moms and their babies in class but that day I happened to be the only one attending the class so in a way it was a win cause i felt like I got a private yoga session in. Shana was the instructor and she was awesome, she knows what its like after giving birth and all the changes your body goes through so she focused alot on areas that would be helpful for me and gave me some ideas on stretches and poses to do at home as well. The baby got a little unruly towards the end of the session so having her hold my 8 month old was very helpful while i finished up my session. This is probably one of the only places in town that I saw in my search that includes kids in yoga classes so bonus points for that. I figure my baby is my buddy now so why not have him join me for my workout. I also found their drop in prices reasonable and affordable should I chose to attend another session soon. I wish i lived closer as I would consider purchasing a punch pass to this place but for now I think I will reserve it for a once a month trip to get a yoga workout in. The only other down side is that I do not believe they offer hot yoga here, maybe that is why the prices are more reasonable.

Was visiting my parents and wanted to get in a good yoga class. I am very partial to the classes I take in my area so of course was hesitant but have to say that Kim was amazing and really took the class to a whole new level for me. I loved his style and knowledge and appreciate him taking the time to work with the class and individuals on their practice. He was GREAT! I will definitely be back when I am in town. Thank you!

There are better yoga places in Albuquerque. The staff and teachers here are cold and aloof. The techniques are professional and fine. I went to several classes, more than 10 because of the particular need I had for a time and class level. When I was able to switch to another place, I realized how demoralizing and even rude the personnel at HIgh Desert were for me. I am so happy to have found another group of qualified teachers, who are warm and considerate and not in the least arrogant or cliquish as were the people at High Desert Yoga in my experience.
