Working hand in hand with the sales, and behind the scenes operations, I found to always be very communicative. Every Builder has struggles with the building supply chain, hiring of labor, which delays the construction process. I know our clients may become frustrated with this. If it were possible to give negative stars, I would give -5. PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY. My family moved to NM 2 years ago and we spent close to 1 million dollars on 2 Hakes Brothers BRAND NEW homes. These homes are poorly constructed and the customer service is atrocious. Over and over we have to call for WARRANTY WORK. We get the run around constantly from our customer service warranty representative, Steven Contreras. He promises to get repair workers to our homes but we have to continue to call over and over again. The appliances that they charge an extreme premium for are ALL TRASH. Out of the 14 appliances between the 2 homes, over half have had to have service and 2 have already had to be replaced before they were 2 years old. Out of 14 brand new homes on our street, there isn't one home where the sliding glass can be easily opened. I had to have repair men out 3 times to work on it, and it still is very difficult to open. My windows were not sealed, had a house full of sand. My laundry room light broke in less than a year, we have been trying to get Steven Contreras to send an electrician for 2 months but we just kerp getting the run around. If we had known how awful these people are WE WOULD HAVE TAKEN OUR MONEY TO A DIFFERENT BUILDER. PLEASE READ ALL REVIEWS AND GO TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU and read all the complaints about this company before giving them your money. You will not be satisfied with a Hakes Brothers Home.

Absolutely disgusted with how you have handled your poor construction. Watching my friends new house fall apart. How can you do that knowing they have young children in the home? Exposing those poor children to mold and everything else. Y'all should be ashamed of yourself.If you're reading this, do yourself a favor and stay away from their homes.

We went under contract for a home in Los Lunas NM on 2/21. Also, on 2/21 we wired our $5000 earnest money deposit. On 3/9 we received our HOA certificate & docs. Per the NM HOA act once those were presented to us, we had 7 days to review, and if we did not agree we could terminate the purchase agreement with no penalties, and get our earnest deposit back within 15 days. On 3/14 we notified our sales consultant-Edward Montoya that we wished to terminate our agreement based on NM HOA act. My realtor sent over the appropriate documentation detailing the termination & request for earnest money deposit to be returned. Edward had told my realtor that those documents were not acceptable to Hakes Brothers. On 3/15 I contacted Edward and requested their appropriate document for us to terminate our purchase agreement. We signed same day by DocuSign. Our 15 day period ended on 3/30, and we have yet to receive our earnest money back. I've asked for updates, and I'm told I'd get a follow up once the sales manager responded to my emails I was sending Edward. On 3/28 Dylan- the sales manger called my husband to inform him that they only issue refunds mid month & end of month. At that time they will mail us a paper check. This is not in their purchase agreement, and the NM HOA act states 15 days. At this point this in an inconvenience, as we are moving across the country and need those funds to secure a home. Based on previous reviews I feel like we dodged a bullet. I will gladly update this review when we do get our earnest money back.

Absolute worst experience with a builder ever. Do not use them. Go with someone else. I have had a home built before so this wasn't my first experience They "forgot" to insulate an entire wall. HOW?!? (Still not fixed). Floors aren't level, the tiles are lifted from one another. When they took weeks to come fix the doorbell the guy I tore into said he didn't do well with threats. Then do your F'EN job!! Don't anyone from Hakes ask me to email because that's a joke given how non-responsive y'all are. DON'T BUY FROM HAKES!!!
