This place is not well maintained. Cars get vandalized all the time. They did some cheap remodeling and it still looks bad. Very tacky clubhouse. Women get harassed by male occupants as well as maintenance staff. There's a board but even some board ppl can be the problem. Best to keep your curtains closed because of peeping neighbors and cameras. It's very dense so no privacy. Very small interiors and tiny bathrooms. Feels cramped. Not recommended for handicapped ppl. Not ADA compliant or Senior citizen friendly. Kitchens are very dated and small. Keep looking. There are better places to live.

Greenbriar is an affordable place to live with desirable townhomes (1.5 baths, fenced yard, annual inspections). For older people especially, it offers a great community with activities and friendships you don't always see in affordable housing. I hope it will go on forever. Things it lacks are management consistency and informed, thoughtful plans. Future residents may have to pay if current residents don't make wise updates and save enough reserves. Since Greenbriar is a nonprofit coop, all members should participate, not leave so much work to the over-burdened few. Also, bad behavior from board members should not be ignored and accepted. It only drives away participation.

I have lived at Greenbriar since 2008. It is a remarkable community. People know each other and are friends. It is economical! It has the advantages of an apartment complex (maintenance staff), a condominium (mortgage interest & tax deductions), and home ownership (a backyard). People are expected to contribute to the life of the community by participating in committees, events, and work days. Come, check us out!

Greenbriar is a cooperative that offers affordable housing in a lovely community near Tramway at Indian School. You can buy a 2 or 3 bedroom share membership that includes a small fenced yard and personal parking space. There are regular coop volunteer activities and social meetings. The monthly carrying costs are low, and include all external and most internal maintenance. Cats and small dogs are permitted, and the grounds provide lots of greenery for walking and socializing. A library, pool and meeting room are included. One of the best housing deals in the state.
