After wondering about the program and being unsure of what it could do for my children, I can proudly say that I have been bringing my kids here for about a year now. The program is not only good for their physical health, but their mental health. After the pandemic came and my kids were stuck at home all the time, they really suffered from not seeing friends and family. Involving them in Gracie Barra has been life-changing for them. They are learning not just about self defense, but about taking pride in yourself, how to treat others and yourself with respect, time management, and so many other small life lessons I see them absorbing every day on the mat. The professors truly care about the children and the kind of people they turn into. I would very highly recommend this school to anybody - adult or child - that wants to learn something about themselves.

The best martial arts gym in Albuquerque! The place is super clean. They teach Brazilian JuiJitsu and Judo as well. They have an amazing kids program and they won first place in the winter tournament! Highly recommend this place!!!

I'd been thinking about starting BJJ for a couple years but had been delaying because I haven't done anything close to it for almost 20 years (since HS wrestling). I asked a friend out of state who is a brown belt for an Abq. recommendation. He asked around and said Gracie Barra, because they're "good people and it's perfect for old guys like us." He was right. I started in December. The front office, which seems to be totally run by one guy Chaz, was professional, knowledgeable and welcoming. Went in for my first free class, I knew I'd be buying a membership, and glad I did. Everyone is helpful and welcoming, especially since BJJ is completely new to me. The "Professors" (black belts who teach the classes) are great, every class shows a healthy diversity of gender, age, fitness level, etc. The workouts are perfectly difficult, more sweating and breathing than anything I've done (since HS wrestling) but nothing I can't handle. The culture is about learning, rather than showing off or hurting each other.
