I ordered the chicken nachos, and the chicken was flavored well, but the cheese sauce was subpar, nothing I would rave about. It reminded me of the cheese served at a concession stand. The sophapillas were fantastic. I have had them in other states, and the ones in New Mexico are by far the best I've ever tasted. Our waiter was nice and attentive, but we did have to search for him when it was time for us to ask for the bill. The food wasn't nasty, but also not a place I would want to visit again.

Pros- convenient location, competitive prices and Wait Staff was nice. 2 stars is given due to staff being friendly. Cons- food isn't very good. I shared the 3 Taco plate with my Mom. Kitchen split it on two plates. Tacos shells are not fresh (pre-pkg from somewhere) Brisket was dry, flavorless and probably several days old. Be warned that their salsa is very spicy. Chips were BLAND- no salt, no flavor. Waitress asked if we wanted cheese on our beans?- Of course! Got the bill and was charge .69 cents for extra cheese. Conclusion- drive thru options are better.Ambience- it's like a New Mexican Dennys inside. Simple and comfortable.

Overall, the hamburger is a little bit off, but I really do like the pancakes that they serve here

Excellent Mexican food. Green Chile is mild, red Chile is warmer! The stuffed sopapilla with ground beef & potatoes, smothered with green Chile and cheese is a must try. Service is excellent! The decor has a Mexican ambiance. This time of the year, Santa has decorated the restaurant with Christmas cheer! Happy Holidays!

I've been a regular at this Garcia's for over 20 years. Even did take out and the mask silliness during the pandemic b/c it was important for me to keep them in business. I go to the grocery store and even understand why the portions have gotten smaller and they've discontinued putting cheese on their beans. The food is still wonderful, imo and the specials serve more than enough food to start my day right. (happy face!)Recently, this restaurant has had some personnel turnover and the service has gotten a bit shaky. Hence losing a star. It isn't bad, just not the level of pampering that i'm accustomed to. Because of this, my tipping has become more rote-instead of roughly 30%, I'm doing a straight 18-20%, but I know that none of the servers are overpaid, so I feel a bit guilty. This could be solved by serving lemon in my water, making sure the order's correct before it hits the table, not forgetting that sopas need honey, and checking to see if we need more water, coffee, etc. I look forward to having breakfast there for the next 20 years, which is probably longer than many of the new employees will stay.

Have been going to this restaurant for years now. But I have to say that the food quality is not very good. The last time we came our beans were under cooked. And so this time time. The beans and potatoes undercooked. It was embarrassing because we had family here visiting from out of town. Out of six plates only two were eaten. The pancakes for the kids. Waste of money and time. Staff was very nice. Would not recommend again.

Garcia's on Juan Tabo is my favorite restaurant in Albuquerque. Until the last two visits it has been a real pleasure. The food, service, ambiance, all have been great. The visits in question have seen eggs massively undercooked, food not hot, meat tough and the servers (both new) evidencing very little interest in providing service. My gratuity has been less than usual because it is based on service (I was a waitress in my youth and usually overtip). I hope this is a little hiccup and will straighten out. In future visits I will be more careful who is my server.

Was excited to try this spot but was was unfortunately unimpressed. The salsa and chile was by far the best tasting part of meal. The chips that came with the salsa were either stale or just low quality ones bought from Sysco. Potatoes and beans had no flavor and while the tortilla was nice and soft it was equally bland. The service was good and the tables seemed cleaned and well kept. Overall a fine experience just was unimpressed by the food.

Our go to for consistently great red and green chile. The chile has been consistently the best, green full of chiles, full flavor, the red is deep and smokey. The specials are great from breakfast to dinner, great ala carte, catering, and simply the best Biscochitos in town. Service is great, love it when we can sit with Stephanie, or Elaine. Always decorated for the season. It a go to and never be disappointed.

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced discrimination as a white person trying to be served at Garcia's Kitchen. First, the hostess ignored me and attempted to seat the people behind me. I spoke up and reluctantly was seated. Others were seated next to me after I was seated. The waitress ignored me and skipped by me. The energy I was feeling was unfriendly, so I left. Anyone else experience this?
