My husband and I eat out A Lot and it's been quite awhile since we have been excited about a new restaurant. On Wednesday we walked in and were immediately greeted as we chose where to sit. We started by ordering the chile con queso and 2 agua frescas. So right off the bat as soon as I tried my Horchata and my husband tried his Agua de Jamaica we both locked eyes with each other and said "wow - this is how this drink should Really taste." The next thing we tried was the chile con queso which was absolutely scrumptious and the chips were also so delicious and fresh. I loved that the queso and chips were so warm and comforting. Now to our main dishes. I asked for the fried quesadillas that are made with homemade corn tortillas and then stuff with Asadero Cheese and meat if you choose (deep fried) and then topped with fresh lettuce , tomatoes, queso fresco and green salsa on the side. My husband ordered an Al Pastor Gordita that came with a red salsa on the side. Let me tell you that as soon as I tried those refried beans on my plate it took me back to a memory of my younger days in Mexico when my mom would make them fresh daily and serve them to us on those aluminum blue plates with the white speckled spots. What an amazing way to trigger such a happy memory. The rice was equally as delicious and let me tell you that the Star of the dish "the fried quesadillas" did NOT disappoint. They were FIRE! They hit on every aspect of my palate. They were absolutely Delectable and the 2 salsas paired perfectly with both dishes. We will definitely be returning soon to try their other dishes on the menu that looked equally delicious. The restaurant is nice and the bathroom was very clean which is very important to me. The music that was playing was also very nice and not too loud so I could still carry a conversation with my spouse. I highly recommend trying Foodtopia you won't regret it

Given the name we don't quite know what to expect and its location could easily be missed. We started with the homemade chips & guac. Delicious and different than the commercial chips usually served. For our dinner it was the Carne Asada Chimichanga & Taco Plate with 1- Carne Asada & 1-Shrimp Taco. The Chimi was loaded with meat and not overdone with toppings - just a drizzle of sour cream. It was well presented. Usually not a big deal, but nice sometimes. The tacos were stuffed, flavorful and not salty. The shrimp was not overcooked. It was the right amount of food for us. Not much of the entree remained. So strange name - good Mexican food.

I had a very good lunch at Foodtopia. It's close to my office - nice to have a locally owned restaurant nearby. The complimentary chips and salsa were great - hot, freshly fried chips, and the salsa had a little kick without being overwhelming.I ordered a barbacoa torta, which came with fries and red or green chile on the side. Delicious! I didn't think the torta needed the chile, but it was made a tasty dip for the fries. The service was friendly and efficient. I'm definitely coming back for lunch or before a movie.

YES!When you walk in the door and are seated, Foodtopia already stands out in that their chips are from fried flour tortillas as opposed to corn tortillas. They were light, crispy, and their salsa was balanced and complemented them well. The refried beans that came with the dish were quite good, but nothing super remarkable. The same goes with the rice. It did have some seasoning on it and it was quite enjoyable, but it was more like a third base hit as opposed to a home run.The birria quesadilla on the other hand, was phenomenal! The cheese was very fresh and came packed with flavor and a little bit of stringy biteback! The beef inside was flavorful, juicy and cooked to perfection! The birria soup and chile you could dip it in both added so much more to the flavor of the dish, and they had just enough spice to where you could feel it, but not enough to make you uncomfortable. Even the fried corn empanada it came in had a burst of flavor on its own, and the sauce drizzled on top was icing on the cake!I have also had the carne adovada enchiladas here and they were MASTERCLASS! The cheese was 100% fresh, and the carne adovada had a perfect char! The red chili wasn't overly sweet like some I have had, yet full of flavor!Based on how empty the place was while I was there, I have to say, Foodtopia is HIGHLY underrated and deserves more business!Next time you are thinking about El Pinto, Cocina Azul, or some other mediocre New Mexican restaurant, come here instead. Seriously.

We really enjoyed the food. My Barbacoa burrito tasted great and so did the rice and beans. We aren't used to paying for chips, but they were great nonetheless. Unfortunately there was only one worker so we waited a while for silverware after receiving our food. Otherwise it was very good!

I have been eating at Foodtopia since the restaurant opened downtown (around 2018). They have since relocated. They have some of the best authentic Mexican (as opposed to New Mexican food) in Albuquerque. It is one of the city's best kept secrets. Chips are freshly made in-house. The barbacoa and birria tacos are outstanding. The chimichangas are also great. This restaurant is easy to miss because it is not visible from the street and is behind a busy New Mexican restaurant. But check it out. You will not be disappointed.

I found this place through Yelp and I am glad I did. When we walked in I was a bit nervous because we were the only customers in the restaurant at 6:30 on a Thursday night. The decore was minimal but welcoming. The TV was anoying because it was on the fritz. The service was spot on. The food was fantastic. I had the El Pastor Chimmyconga. It was huge and delicious! I highly recommend this place.
