I have been searching for a place like this for 68 years. I rejected formal religion at age 13 after 8 dreadful years in an RC school. Sixteen years ago, I discovered Lakota spirituality, and that made me realize that something had been missing from my life for 53 years. I was taken to First Unitarian (1UU) a year ago and found what had been missing. I became a member of 1UU three days ago. What is it that drew me into this community? Several things, one of which is community. Mostly, however, is the brilliance of the Senior Ministers (and an especially gentle and bright young Intern, San). Community -- you can always find something interesting and fulfilling to do here. Music, teaching, committee work, community work, organization, and more. Roll your own path. Ministers -- There are two Senior Ministers at 1UU. Christine Robinson is now retiring after many years leading this congregation, and Angela Herrera, who was just elected Senior Minister (with a 99.7% vote!). Both are wise and caring. Their sermons are never about FUD, but rather built around humanistic concepts. I am lifted after each service. Nobody here cares that I pray in Lakota. They just care that I care. And I do. Come join us. Wopila. Mitakuye Oyasin.

This might seem strange but I'm gonna yelp this church for its yoga. There is yoga, it is gentle and restorative and cheap at $5/class, Mon/Thurs 5:45pm. They advertise the days in the Alibi in the classified section. The class is a very welcoming chill place. I take my own mat but the teacher brings a few items with her to share (I think). Questions? 505-821-1283

Visited this church while passing through Albuquerque with our family. Welcoming congregation and beautiful setting. Fascinating sermon by a talented younger minister. Music by a church contemporary band group. Fun, stimulating and memorable! Seems to be a very vital, healthy, growing congregation.

This weekend's workshops inspired me to join Yelp so that I could express a favorable rating for this church. Wow! What a quality speaker! I am going to look for more workshops sponsored by this church. BTW, the speaker this weekend was Rev. John Buehrens and the talk that most inspired me was about understanding the Bible for skeptics, seekers, and religious liberals. Excellent food for thought. I have a lot to chew on now.
