Fano Bread Company

So yesterday, March 17, 2024, Susanne and I stopped by Sprouts on Alameda (westside ABQ) for potatoes & parsley. As we walked past the bakery section, we were astounded to see a rack filled with bread from our favorite local bakery: FANO! There, in all its glory, were bags of Rustic Loaves and other treats! No one at the store could tell us where this treasure trove came from, since we are certain that FANO ceased operation last year. We left with a loaf.When we got back home, we looked up FANO and discovered their website is gone and the phone is "out of service." I called this AM to hear the same announcement. There is no Facebook page. Mystery!? Did Sprouts have a stash of frozen bread in a warehouse all this time? Did the owner or surrogate restart limited operation? There's a date label: "Mar 19 2024" on the bag. Susanne and I each ate a slice and we're still alive! It just doesn't taste as fresh as we would have expected. Can anyone in our YELP community shed light on what's up with FANO Bread Company?Update: I got a very nice reply today from Michael R. telling us that they have "had a topsy-turvy year" and are still working to get the company on track. Do you love bread? There are so many choices from so many bakers. I've tried many, because I do so love good - yes great! - bread. You can get your standard grocery store bread, but for just a few pennies more you can get really good bread. Bread that sticks to your ribs and tickles your taste buds. Bread that isn't just blah, but has tons of flavor.Fano has a green chile cheese bread that makes incredible sandwiches, or just toast for breakfast. If you are from New Mexico, this bread goes perfectly with posole, and tamales, and enchiladas . . . oh, heck, it goes with everything . . . including a tiny bit of butter and a good beer. This bread is addictive. So very good.But, my favorite is their raisin cinnamon bread! OMGoodness it puts other pretend cinnamon breads to shame. Toast, toast, toast! I'm just wondering if I can give up some to make bread pudding? Maybe I will buy an extra loaf to make pudding. Yep, going to try that today!Thank you Fano Bread Company for doing it right.

You will never have a better bread than their Green Chile Cheese bread.. Make it for toast in the a.m., make it with sandwiches, eat with soup and I promise you will be addicted. Best Bread EVER!! Their Rustic Loaf and Sourdough are excellent as well but I will always have the Green Chile Cheese bread in my pantry!

Fano Bread Company makes Fantastic Baguettes!! Crispy shell delicious interior. They make other breads too, like Sourdough which are excellent. But I am completely taken with their Baguettes

This bread used to be good. Now the Rustic Loaf" is more holes than bread! Not wort the price, since you can't make a sandwich with it. Very poor quality control.

Fresh baked bread smells so good. Our favorite are the green chile buns, sourdough loaf is our second favorite. Call ahead to make sure they still have your favorite bread flavor.

In years past my family has enjoyed all of the Fano breads. A must have for everyday use as well as special occasions. They disappeared for awhile, but now they are back! You can pick up fresh loaves of all their varieties at their location on McLeod. Worth the trip for wonderful fresh breads.

Not sure what has happened to Fano, I use to get this at a couple of my grocery stores, but no longer? This is probably the best bread I've ever had for toast and grill cheese in particular. It's perfect for sandwiches of any kind. I haven't had some in a couple of months and I really miss my Rustic Loaf.

Fano bread is hands down the best! The rustic loaf is fantastic for sandwiches and makes the best avocado toast. And the Green Chile cheese bread could not be any more delicious. xoxo!
