El Pilar Food Truck

My companion and I were out for Sunday drive and decided to give El Pilar food truck a try. We had seen it for years driving through Espanola and decided to make the time and give it a shot. Boy are we glad we did. We decided to split a four taco plate with a ground beef Sopa.The outdoor seating area is rather large and covered by sunshades. The parking is right next to the seating area. You do overlook the roadway, but the landscaping is nice and on a typical New Mexico day you can enjoy alfresco dining. Like a typical food truck you order from the window and they call your number when your food is ready. While we were there, they were doing a brisk business with call in orders and takeaways. It did not ake long for our al pastor and barbacoa tacos to come out. The four taco plate came with a small side of refried beans and rice. There was also a nice red sauce. The refried beans were phenomenal and some of the best I've ever had. The charred jalapeño pepper gave the dish some nice heat. The Al Pastor taco had a lovely flavor, but the Barbacoa really was the star of the show. The meat was flavorful and extremely tasty. The Sopa was very tasty with the meat being well cooked.My complain and I will definitely return and try some of the other items on the menu. If this truck is open, you need to stop.

Great food and nice people! The burgers are huge (and come with fries), but my family loves the breakfast burritos with red chili. Service is pretty quick but made to order. The seating area is super clean and nicely landscaped.

Tasty choice for tacos when on the way through Espanola. We were glad to find them open when we were making our way through on the way to go camping. Glad they had modest outdoor seating available so that we didn't need to eat in our truck. We tried a few different tacos and enjoyed them.

Tried the shrimp tacos and frito pie. Both were excellent. They have a nice shaded spot to chill out and enjoy your food. Definitely recommend!!

They are OPEN SUNDAY! Had brunch: coffee, barbacoa sandwich, TON of hot crispy fries. Barbacoa was lean and spicy. Bun was a tad stale. But, Mike "Two Dogs" Shebala, Native American Chef was excellent. Tremendously entertaining. As him how he was named "Two Dogs.!" Quite a story!

Wow! What a treasured find! Our first time staying near Espanola (in Chimayo) and this was the best food we've had in New Mexico. I had the taco plate (2 barbacoa + 2 shrimp tacos) with refried beans and rice and they were all delicious. My partner had the chicken enchiladas (Christmas style) and he devoured his plate as well. Service was super friendly, prices super reasonable, and food came swiftly. Great seating area with ample parking lot adjacent. Will definitely eat here again. And apparently there is also a restaurant 3 blocks away. Can't wait to check it out. Thanks El Pilar!

We came because we heard they had amazing smoked ribs. And, oh, the ribs are delicious! But we decided to stay and sit outside and enjoy a Saturday afternoon date. It was so nice just to be out of the house!I had a tostada and chose shrimp as my protein. They were very generous with the shrimp and the toppings. The chipotle sauce was creamy, spicy and perfect to compliment the shrimp.My husband got the Carne asada plate that came with a green sauce and beans/rice. The tacos were loaded with meat and topped with fresh onions and cilantro. He didn't speak until he finished consuming it all. It was that good! I was very proud of us that we didn't touch the ribs until we got home. It was torture for 42 miles to smell them, but well worth the wait. The meat was seasoned perfectly and the meat fell off the bone. They will be perfect for Sunday lunch tomorrow with my baked beans, Cole slaw and potato salad! No BBQ sauce is needed for these ribs. The season blend and the smoked flavor are more than enough.They are a cash only establishment. I'm already planning on returning next week to explore more of the menu!!

Amazing spot for fresh tacos!! Fast service and delicious food. It has a nice outdoor seating spot

Delicious combo plate ribs are so good try it out they also have a restraunt in Espanola

The BBQ is excellent and finally tried the Mexican food which was also excellent. Heading there in a couple of days.
