Last visit here: Black beans. I was surprised they weren't seasoned. Still better than sour Pinto beans.

I absolutely love the ambiance of this restaurant on the East side. Once a Whataburger, one would never know. It is decorated beautifully, covered with vibrant paint and art covering the walls. Located near Paseo and Wyoming, it is in a high traffic area. The North Domingo Baca Community Center, across the street, is always bussing. Additionally, the shopping center is always attracting a lot of people.

El Patron is a delightful eatery that showcases traditional New Mexican cuisine, featuring classic dishes like the green chile quesadilla. As you step inside, you're immediately enveloped in an inviting atmosphere that radiates warmth and cultural charm. The decor creates a homey vibe, making it a perfect spot to relax and savor your meal. The seating is particularly comfortable, especially if you choose a cozy booth, and the restaurant also boasts a bar area for those looking to enjoy a refreshing drink. While it may be a small establishment, there's ample indoor and outdoor seating, allowing for a pleasant dining experience regardless of the weather. The food is, for the most part, delicious; however, some dishes could benefit from a lighter hand with the salt, as the potatoes and beans were a bit overpoweringly seasoned. The pancakes, while decent, are fairly standard and something most anyone could whip up at home.Customer service was average; it met our needs but didn't leave a lasting impression. On the practical side, the restaurant has restrooms on-site, which adds to the convenience, and there's plenty of parking available, including designated handicap spaces.Overall, El Patron is definitely worth a return visit, especially for those eager to indulge in authentic New Mexican flavors in a comfortable and inviting setting.

I've been going to this newer smaller location since it opened near me. Typically pretty good food and service. Servers are usually pretty friendly. You can substitute a side for Calabacitas (squash) which I usually do. They have a Senior section on the menu for smaller portions and a little less expensive. But my last visit there I noticed an extra charge on my bill called a; "Market Surcharge 3%" added? This was not a tax. I asked but didn't get a good answer - the server was planning to change jobs bc she was unhappy there. I paid the bill anyway and thought I'd pass this on to others. It's a bit late bc I broke my arm/wrist shortly after I ate there. Airlines and politicians are always looking for ways to add on extra fees and taxes BUT I didn't expect a restaurant to do this! So be warned!!!!!

Met a good friend here who loves El Patron, and they take good care of him. The food was good, not quite memorable, service was also good.

I'm Not sure why the ratings are so low. Every time I've been here for a meal, I've been quite satisfied. I typically order the enchiladas or the carne Adovado. Always good. Their chips which come out right away, are thin and crisp! My favorite kind.I love the building and decor, too. Today's visit was special as they were decorated for Christmas. Margueritas are solid!I'll be back!

After picking up a breakfast order a burnt waffle was given to us. Why would you pack a burnt waffle, take the time to make a new one. We called the restaurant and they offered us a refund but it never got issued. We won't be back.

Went with a group and had a fabulous experience! They were attentive and solicitous without being annoying. Most of us had the fish tacos and rellenos, which were every bit as delicious as the original location. Super tasty and generous portions. Clean, friendly, fast, and fun. Will definitely be back.

Margaritas had slight off flavor. Not the best margarita mix and were weak.Food came out lukewarm, not hot.Cynthia spent the entire night on cell phone with fellow server, never came to ask if everything was okay. She also spoke in such a low voice, hard to hear her.Chips were greasy, like the salsa, but served in too small bowls, when dip the chip, salsa goes on table.Flavors and chile need to be stronger. Not good service when food brought to table and "auctioned off". Food should be put down in front of person without asking,
