El Mezquite Market has an in house restaurant and tortilleria. Great variety of home made salsas. Large fresh meat and seafood counter. Great selection of piñatas hanging from the ceiling.

I love this market. Their fresh tortillas are delish. They have a huge meat section in the back. Veggies are always fresh and inexpensive. They have vegetables you. And can't easily find elsewhere like cactus leaves. They have a flan and tres leches cake that look absolutely delish! The area is a bit shady. But the store contents are worth braving the shadiness.

Went here a year ago, had the red salsa and it was good, really spicy. However we got chicken fajitas and they made us sick; food poisoning. We have gone here for years but it's not like it used to be. The red meat also looked spoiled. The prices too were a little high when we went, however we received great hospitality. Hoping it has improved since then.

There are a handful of things that I go to El Mezquite for specifically, but it is also nice to go just see what you might find. Last night was Halloween and I gave out candy from.. you guessed it, El Mezquite. Not just because the prices are often reasonable compared to the big box stores, but it is also just fun and different. I hoped the trick or treaters enjoyed the sandia candy.I also agree with many others on the thought that their produce and meat options are superb. I have always loved the fajita mix you can get from the Mexican markets, pre-seasoned is a huge win in my book. It is also a great place to get your produce needs like onions, tomatoes, etc. My weakness is getting to the check out area and grabbing some dulce de leche which some of the options are local and just soo good.

If i am east side this is the hit for me. Wear a mask and smile a lot. You will be fine. Get some hot food and go down on nob hill and eat it in front of the scared gringos paying 4x more for half the flavor.

This was my first mexican grocery experience and it turned out to be one the best grocery experiences so far in ABQ. I particularly liked their meat and deli sections. Meat was super fresh and the price was amazing. Half-inch sliced T-bone steak was four dollar and something. I also bought some ready to cook fajita and pollo adobado and they were all very great. They also have a large variety of salsa and queso in the deli section. Both queso fresco and chihuahua were super fresh and light and fire roasted salsa was very savory. They have a bakery but I honestly didn't get a good impression. Bought some different sorts of desert bread but they were a bit too bland with lacking buttery flavor and texture. For the price, they were not bad at all though. One downside was parking. The store is in a sketchy area and as another reviewer mentioned before, I wouldn't feel safe parking my car at night or putting any valuable stuff in it.

The Positives:-the variety of meat cuts is awesome.-prices of meats and most fruits and vegetables-helpful employees-meats look fresh. Though the meat/seafood department really smells strongly of meat, it was not unpleasant to me-huge parking lotThe Negatives:-some items do not have pricetags. I bought a small package of strawberries and when the cashier scanned it, it was at $4.99 as compared to Walmart's $1.99! I should have not bought it but the cashier was scanning through my groceries too fast.-difficulty of understanding English by some employees-sketchy parking lot. Lots of banged-up cars. I would not feel safe going here at night Overall, I would still comeback for the incredible prices of most items.
