This was a great find in Santa Fe! It's located in the beautiful downtown area, so parking is street parking. They seem understaffed, so expect longer waits, but the service is friendly and the food is worth it!We had dinner here our first night in Santa Fe. We started with chips, salsa, and guacamole. The salsa was different from what I'm used to, but was a nice surprise. My husband ordered the mole and cleaned his plate! I ordered the ceviche and it was both a gorgeous presentation as well as a delicious meal. Our kids ordered the kid's quesadilla and the kid's burger, and enjoyed their meals. This bar/restaurant is worth a stop for a delicious meal in Santa Fe.

One weeknight recently I was with a group of eight or nine people who were wandering around looking for dinner and someone found this listing on Yelp and suggested. None of us had heard of it but it seemed cool. We wondered why it was empty. There was one couple in there when we walked in. We were greeted by a very friendly gentleman who was very attentive and patient with our large group. The food was amazing. Everyone's entrees were delicious and artfully prepared. The guacamole and chips were perfect. The cocktails were delicious. Only very very minor downside was that someone asked for a pretty common drink and they didn't have the alcohol - can't remember what it was but it was strange they didn't have it. Wasn't anything weird. Anyway, service was great, food was phenomenal, drinks were good. I will definitely come back.

I'm not sure that this is a review as much as some feedback. We heard great things about El Callejon from Yelp and made it our first stop for lunch on a Sunday morning. Unfortunately, the doors were locked and a closed sign even though we saw a couple people sitting at the bar. We knocked on the door and call the restaurant but no one answered. It's so disappointing when their website and Yelp clearly listed opening at 11:30 on Sundays. Maybe someone could post a sign on the door, answer the phone when people were clearly inside, or put an announcement on your website. We would love to eat here when we are in town again but very disappointed today.

Nice local cafe with Mexican food specialties. The array of salsa and peppers was as tasty as it was attractive. Service was attentive and friendly. The decor is very cool, it's a great place to hang out with the gang for drinks and food. Very New Mexico, give it a shot!

They never answer their phones and have an OPEN sign on the door. Yet, they are CLOSED! Don't waste your time. Go elsewhere. Terrible experience.

This taco plate came with top sirloin marinated in beer, garlic, lime, and black pepper and then grilled and chopped. The tacos were topped with cilantro and onions and also came with escabeche, black beans, spicy guacamole, and tomatillo salsa. The meat was so flavorful and juicy but there were some fatty pieces At least the fatty pieces were packed with flavor. The tortilla were thick which I appreciated because these tacos were packed. The spicy guacamole tasted very fresh and I could taste the kick. Overall, great dish.

This spot is my absolute favorite in all of downtown Santa Fe due to its delicious food, engaging and lively vibe, exceptional service, and live music. The staff is attentive and kind, creating a culture of excellence. I love the bar area, the long table tops for big groups, and the tables for a romantic dinner or an evening with friends. All the dishes are fantastic! Can't wait to go again.

This place needs love from the owners. You can tell the team is understaffed and overworked. I came to an early dinner tonight around 5:30 pm. We are the at the bar and settled down. It took about 15 mins to get our drinks order. No big deal. We also had time to order our dinner which was ceviche and mole. The meal took over an hour to come. . But we were fine with it since we were not in a rush. The ceviche was disappointing because it had cooked shrimp and I did not taste the fish that was included in the mixture. The tortilla la were overcooked. Our mole was disappointing, but what made it interesting was the small portion of rice. Although I am disappointed, I would give this restaurant a second try to give it a final verdict. Owner - your staff are dedicated. Treat them well!

On our first evening in Santa Fe, my friend and I had gallery hopped, shopped and bar hopped, so we were ready to look for dinner. We turned to Yelp, and our first choice was booked for the evening, so we chose El Callejon due to the positive reviews and the fact that Mexcian food is the most popular type of food in Santa Fe.When we walked in, I was impressed. It looked like an upscale dive bar, with fun music playing. There were pub games, a long bar, tons of art on the walls, and small tables for dining. We were greeted and our orders were taken readily. My friend ordered the house margarita and I ordered the mezcal margarita. We also ordered chips and salsa. In Santa Fe, it seems that there is the odd rule that restaurants charge for chips and salsa, and here they charged $7.50. We expected some big chips, and maybe a variety of salsas. The chips were a basket of slightly broken tortilla chips, and just one cup of mediocre salsa. They did bring us out another cup of salsa later. The margaritas each had a little flower which was nice, but they were watered down with little flavor and little alcohol. We both ordered three tacos, mine with corn tortillas, and my friend's with flour. They got my friend's order completely wrong, but did remake her order and gave us the chips and salsa for free as an apology. When they brought her new set of tacos out, they had forgotten the flour tortillas. My order was correct. I had ordered a chicken, a fish and a shrimp taco, but, unfortunately, they all tasted exactly the same. The food was edible but that was about it. I am confused by the high ratings for this place considering the quality of the food, drinks and service.

The service was fast but sloppy. As my waiter dispensed my beer on tap he noted it was flat. From my seat I watched him adulterate it with salt and agitate it to develop a foamy head. That's disgusting. The food arrived quickly and it could not have been more tasteless. I don't understand the really high Yelp score. This place is a disgrace to Santa Fe. The food really was disgusting. For example, my chicken burrito supposedly had pollo asado--roasted chicken. Instead, it was boiled shredded, dark meat, chicken. Well at least you would expect the red and green chile sauces (Christmas) that I requested atop of burrito to be pretty flavorful because well this is New Mexico. Instead, it tasted like it came out a a can from Kroger. This place has absolutely no redeeming value. My prickly margarita was OK but based on what I saw happening to the beer, I have no idea what it was in this thing. You can do so much better in Santa Fe. I'm sure there are better Mexican restaurants in Peoria.
