Duke CIty Fencing

My 9-year-old son took private beginning lessons with Coach David this month. He had 6 private lessons and loved it! The facility is beautifully designed and decorated with a cool mural. Toby's staff is very professional, great with children, cheerful and inspiring. They offer a first free class on Saturdays at 11AM. They started him with a pool noodle to understand the basic stance and moves. Toby has a kind way of requiring respectful behavior from the students. He moved on to using full Olympic weapon and protective gear by the 3rd lesson. He loved having chances to "stab his teacher" on the last day. It looked so fun but also extremely educational!

My son had his 10th birthday at Duke City Fencing today and had a great time. Neither he nor any of his friends had ever fenced and Toby, the owner, spent over two hours with them teaching them the basics of fencing. The end of the lesson the kids got to fence one another in full garb. Everyone had a blast. Duke City fencing set up tables for our food, supplied the silverware, plates and cups and cleaned up. A very nice facility and a lot of fun. My husband also participated and it was quite the workout he said. My son now wants to take fencing lessons. Highly recommend!

Great physical activity for everyone. It has been good for my son who did not enjoy typical team sports (soccer, baseball, etc.). Great people, patient instructors and just lots of fun!

This is a great fencing club with people of all ages competing in local, regional, national and international tournaments - or just fencing for FUN! I've been a member for +5 years and plan on fencing well into my 70's.
