This is my favorite gym in Albuquerque! The equipment and layout of the building make it easy to get a great workout without feeling crammed in with other people. Always clean with nice amenities. The staff is friendly and incredibly helpful - Big thank you to Carly for outstanding customer service!

I dropped by Downtown Sports and Wellness while visiting Albuquerque and staying at a local hotel, and it was a great gym to get an "on-the-road" workout in. With my room key, I got a discount day pass rate (around $12) with an easy sign-in process. This place has a lot of equipment, including barbells, squat racks, free weights, rowers, cardio equipment, and standard weight machines. It's still missing some things, but for a drop-in, it's completely fine. There weren't a ton of people there, even on a Saturday morning, so I didn't have to wait for anything. One thing I really appreciated about this gym was all the workout "supplements" they had in vending machines. Whether you opt for a natural pre-workout powder, or one that has 10,000X your daily recommended doses of caffeine and BCAA's; and whether you are looking for vegan protein powder, or more traditional whey, they have a supplement for everyone (all in single servings). So, if you forget to bring your pre- or post- workout drinks, they probably have you covered. The locker rooms were fairly large and clean. You do not have to bring your own lock.My two critiques would be their fairly limited hours, especially on weekends, and the difficulty in finding it (it's downstairs in a sort of underground mall which is half locked-up). Also, it might be a bit limited as a normal gym with a regular membership. Otherwise, it's a great place to drop in while on the road for a workout.

I used this gym when I was staying at the hotel across the street. It was very nice. Very clean head of the equipment work. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It wasn't crowded and everyone had masks on.

Maybe I've just been unusually spoiled by other gyms I've visited across the country, but I wasn't all that thrilled by this Sports and Wellness, especially after being told by others it was the "best in the chain".I wasn't a fan of the subterranean location and odd layout. (It was also hard to find). It was a smaller gym too, and some of the space was used for alternate purposes (i.e. yoga on the basketball court). And the racquetball courts were in a completely different location, on the other side of an underground mall. Kooky. The men's locker room felt a little cramped, dated and rundown. No programmable combo locks for visitors like me. (What year is it again?) I didn't bring a padlock of my own, so I had to carry my jacket, sweats and wallet around with me. Not ideal.Kudos for a large stretching area, but it was immediately adjacent to the spin class. I felt a little too much on display there; plus I had to listen in on the pounding music and annoying chatter of the instructor. The weight room was the best part, with some newer, middle-of-the-line equipment. They also made good use of the space. I'd give that at least 3 stars by itself. But when rating the entire gym experience, I need to grade on a curve, as always.

This location is in the downtown area it can be hard to find at first. Parking is across the street on the east side of the plaza. It is small but when I go it seems to never be packed like the other locations which is nice. It has a small dry sauna and in the locker rooms there are steam rooms. I've never had an issue with customer service.

This place is hard to find during the weekends when the doors are shut at the office buildings around it. Unless you know where to go-- (look for some clear glass walls and a stairway on the Plaza,) it can be quite perplexing to find this fitness place. I was staying at the Andaluz Hotel across the street & after a long day of sightseeing, I know I needed a workout. This Downtown Sports & Wellness Center functions as the workout spot for the Andaluz Hotel. Ask at the hotel front desk & they will give you courtesy passes to use. Show your hotel key to the club to identify yourself as a Andaluz patron.I was quite impressed with the full scale gym here. Loads of equipment and everything appears very well-maintained The showers are hot and clean and the locker rooms are neat and tidy. I was only interested in the pool, myself, and thought it was great. Though I had just a short amount of time before the center closed, I managed to get a good pool workout in and popped into the jacuzzi, which was very hot. Both water facilities were clean and the lingering malodorous smell of chlorine, which is sometimes found at indoor swim places, was not evident. A good ventilation system helps here. I did deduct 1 YELP STAR because I had problems trying to get downstairs to the gym. In fact, I had to go back to the hotel and ask the concierge to call over and ask how the heck to access the place? Once I was told the directions, there were many levels of stairs I had to slowly limp down. But once in the pool, it was all good!

it's the least crowded. i love that it's hard to find because it makes the workout experience unique and you never have to fight over machines or wait for someone to finish since there's never many people there. The only reason i didn't rate it 5 stars is bc the minimal hours and weekend closure.
