My 2222nd review!I'd say the area is a little shady, but there is no shade. Just one isolated depot with a few benches past a maze of stairs and a few early retirees keeping the sidewalks from floating away.Still, there's no faster, cheaper, easier, and safer way to get from Albuquerque to Santa Fe, if you so choo-choo-choose. It's convenient because you don't have to get there early to get a ticket, or deal with a machine, or even make sure you have cash. The friendly crew comes by to sell you tickets while you sit there and pretend your feet weren't on the chair in front of you. They don't like that. There are no layovers like airports or transfers like buses or weird colored lines like subways. The trains are clean and comfortable. Sometimes the guys on the speaker sound like you're on Big Thunder Railroad- I almost expected him to say "this here's the wildest ride in the wilderness". I wish they had wi-fi, especially now that I know they raised their prices. Maybe I *should* throw some shade since they don't got none.

Took an Uber downtown to the Train Station this is the BEST way in my opinion to get to Santa Fe. We were in New Mexico visiting Albuquerque and read that we could take the train for a low fare round trip to Santa Fe for day !!! Yes, let's do it. When you get to the train station no need to worry about buying tickets at the station you just get on the train and buy them as the train conductor comes around. Also when we were visiting the online purchasing service was down so no online purchases. That was ok as the conductor was nice and told us how to buy them on the train. Also know that when you get to the station you need to look for the ramp behind the station which will take you to the train. When we went there was lots of security standing by the train so we asked which train was going to Santa Fe, just to make sure we were going the correct way. The train is 2 story so we boarded the train then went up stairs to sit for a better view. The train is clean. The train has seats with tables for work or seats without tables but no matter where you sit it is a great ride with a great view along the way to Santa Fe. The train also has clean bathrooms in each different compartment which is nice. Bring your own water or coffee as I did NOT see a place on the train to buy any. No alcohol allowed (saw someone on the train when coming back from Santa Fe to Albuquerque get in trouble for having alcohol). We felt very safe riding the train to Santa Fe and back from Santa Fe. The price was better then renting a car or taking an Uber. The train does make several stops along the because hey it's a train and there are several depots/stations at the small towns along the way at which they have to pick up passengers. The conductor will come on the PA system to tell you about the town s. Security will also walk the train several times along the way. I highly recommend that you take the train to Santa Fe New Mexico, it was fun, it was an experience.

We decided to go up to Santa Fe for the day so we had to catch the very cheap Rail Runner from ABQ station downtown. When we arrived by ride share it didn't feel safe. The train station sits behind the greyhound station and the metro bus station is to the left. For you to find the train platform you need to go behind the greyhound station and you will see a sign for Amtrac and for Rail runner but no information telling you what track of the 5 is Southbound and what part is Northbound. This station/platform has no directions on what track is what so here you go as we learned the hard way and got on the southbound train not the northbound. The Northbound train to Santa Fe comes on track 2 platform and the Southbound train comes on Track 1 closest to the station. Pay close attention to if your train goes all the way to Santa Fe or back to ABQ downtown as some don't go past ABQ downtown. The area the station is in has a lot of homeless people and drunks it didn't feel safe at all. There was 1 police car a few streets down and when we returned, they were at the station. It is so cheap to get a day pass its $5 unlimited, so I recommend that. You can buy it online and have it for when you board or buy on the train. If this review helps you please mark as helpful and follow me for more around the world.

The Downtown Albuquerque Railrunner Stationseems to be the main hub of the Railrunner. So many Burquenos and out of state travelers getting from here to there.I've taken the railrunner for many years and have always had a pleasant rideFrom the Sandoval Railrunner Station to the Santa Fe Depot. The Downtown Albuquerque Railrunner Station is a wonderful stopwith access to all the eclectic eateries in Downtown Albuquerque as wellas local businesses. There are also connections to the bus lines for those needed to travel around ABQ Metro. If you are flying into ABQ and headed to Santa Fe you can take a shuttle from the ABQ Sunport to the Downtown Albuquerque Railrunner station. This is definitely a travelers benefit if you want to save on the expense of renting a car. Overall, from a day trip to Santa Fe to work Monday through Friday I believe you'll experience a joyful ride! All Aboard!!! *Beep-Beep*Chugga Chugga Choo Choo!!!

Station was easy to find from the parking garage although some of the signs could be a little bit better for tourists. It was a weekend so the main station was closed. Ended up in the bus bay but easily found where the train station was. Informative area to buy tickets and get information. Something to use to get to Santa Fe for a day trip!

If you are in Albuquerque and you've exhausted exploring options in town, then take a trip northward to Santa Fe. You don't even need a car to do so! Just drop on by the Albuquerque Station, and hop on the Rail Runner Express (http://www.yelp.com/biz/new-mexico-rail-runner-express-albuquerque).This station is close to downtown, and the platform for the Rail Runner is easy to get to, and if you need a ticket, there are agents there on the platform who can ring up your credit card & give you a ticket right there on the spot. Super cool.

Dave goes to New Mexico part 4.So, after our 2.5 hours sitting around a very hot airport waiting for the bus to take us to the train station, we finally arrived at said station. It was a very hot and dusty day, and I was already worn out from the day's travel. Maybe that influenced my review of the Downtown Albuquerque Station, but I think this public transportation hub could use some serious improvement and TLC.Like many public transportation hubs this station is kind of run down. There is trash on the ground, and many of the buildings and people in the area have seen better days.As a stranger in town, I was not sure where I needed to go when I got off the bus. The signage was not clear. Fortunately, there were three gentlemen who rode the bus with us who were familiar with the layout. They pointed us in the right direction. My thanks to them for getting us to the train on time. There is no shade at the tracks, so it was extremely hot. Also, I did not see restrooms either time I came through this station. Better signs, a thorough cleaning, some police presence, and better amenities would certainly help make this a more traveler friendly way point.

A certain, very local segment of the population here despises the "failrunner." Apparently, they have never taken advantage of the Railrunner Train, a wonderful resource to citizens of New Mexico from Belen to Santa Fe.The Railrunner transports my intoxicated behind to and from beer and wine festivals. No driving, don't even need to risk it with the convenience of the Railrunner. The trainschedule is always available at the platform and if you ask any of the friendly employees that disembark once the train arrives at the station, they will politely discuss options and answer all of your questions.Just make sure that you get on the SOUTHBOUND train if you want to go to the Isleta Casino/ Los Lunas/ Belen, or the NORTHBOUND train if you want to go to the Balloon Fiesta Field/ Santa Fe.The station is located smack dab in downtown, just behind the Alvarado Transportation Center. Just walk up the stairs or the walkway located to the left of the transportation center, proximal to Central Avenue. The Railrunner accepts cash or charge. Discounted fares are available for students and senior citizen.Parking garage located just south of the transportation center. Why spend the gas money and waste time driving up to Santa Fe, when you can ride the Railrunner in style?Hint: Look for the rail car marked quiet. Shhhh

Friends and I decided to take a Saturday day trip from Abq to Santa Fe and back on the Railrunner Express. Now, express is something of a misnomer since you get to stop at every station along the way That being said, the train was on time, comfortable, and apart from a loud crackling intercom system, was very enjoyable.
