Double Time Dance Studio has been a staple in partner dance instruction in Albuquerque for nearly two decades. I took my first Lindy Hop lesson from instructor John Henry years ago, and have recently taken classes in Tango and Salsa. Owners John Henry and Adrienne know their stuff, and know how to teach people to dance. The classes are generally small, so you get a lot of one-on-one attention. Guest teachers and special workshops give students opportunities to learn from other instructors as well. The studio has a nice old-school vibe, and is warm and welcoming. I would not hesitate to recommend Double Time to a new dancer who might be feeling a little timid, or an experienced one who wants to learn something new.

The space is nice enough, although not huge. But John Henry doesn't actually teach. He demonstrates with his capable partner and maybe offers some rather abstract lecture points about what not to do, but never comes around to provide any helpful corrections. I have taken dance classes literally all over the world, and never has a teacher phoned it in to that degree.
