My wife and I had a very nice date here recently. We made a reservation on a Friday evening, and the check-in and seating process was seamless. Restaurant was busy but not packed, and it was very comfortable inside. Our server was very attentive, made great recommendations, and was very personable. Appetizers, drinks and main courses were all delivered looking amazing and tasting even better! We're already looking forward to our next visit, as well as giving gift cards as gifts to family for Christmas!

The food is incredible, and honestly the only reason this review has 3 stars. The food carried this experience. The remodel is beautiful and the restaurant has an upscale feel with food that is on par with the ambiance. The praise ends here, however. Nothing else about this experience was on par with the prices. After being seated we waited 15 minutes before someone dropped off water at our table and told us that a waiter would be with us shortly. In another 10 minutes, someone who still wasn't our waiter came and asked for a drink order. When the drinks came out 20 minutes later, they were missing ingredients as listed on the menu, so we had to wait another 10 minutes for them to ask us how they were before we could ask for them to be fixed. Note that this is almost an hour into our experience and we have not met our waiter. When our waitress finally arrived she seemed less than enthusiastic to be there, and didn't really come back after taking our order - someone else dropped the food each time. When our appetizer plates got pulled they took our silverware, but when our entrees got dropped off, we had to wait another 10 minutes to ask for silverware to eat our food. Basically you should expect to do a lot of flagging people down aggressively and asking for attention, even by doing these things you will be at the restaurant a long while. It really made the experience a poor one despite the fact that the food was great. I hope that they are working out opening kinks, though it seems like these should be ones they've already worked out. They have the same advantage as Vintage 423 - they don't really have any competition in this area. So here's to hoping that the service reflects the prices and is on par with the food soon.

First, the positive. The atmosphere is a step up from the previous restaurant. We were greeted by the host with a welcome. We were told that they were booked and so we sat at the bar top. Not a problem- the female bartender was excellent-very engaging and made an excellent dirty martini. The disappointment- the spanikopida is the size of a burrito. The spinach was under cooked and the flavor of mint over-took the dish-and it became soggy after a few bites. It was such a disappointment. This was a part of the Greek platter- which had 3 olives, tzatziki, hummus, another spicy creamy dip, some cut vegetables for dipping and pita triangles. It looks like a lot of food, but nothing to brag about. We both ordered gyros. They presented well, but they weren't seasoned properly and they skimped on the tomatoes giving just a few small chopped for a very large serving. We took them home with the tzatziki from the platter to add some salt and Greek seasoning for lunch tomorrow.Overall a pleasant experience because of the atmosphere, the cocktails and the bartender, but the food was a disappointment.

Favorite date night spot! If you haven't tried the food and cocktails at Dorothea you are missing out on an experience! We loved the duck confit tacos that are served on slices of jicama. The Grilled artichokes with Meyer lemon aioli were smokey, zesty and earthy. The lamb lollipops were perfectly seared and well seasoned, juicy in every bite. The traditional Greek salad topped with delicious feta was a great addition to the meal. My Husband raved about his pork chop and broccolini. Every morsel was gone. Our server Mikie was attentive, super knowledge and fun! The drinks, made with house made syrups and brines, are absolutely to die for! Our favorites so far are the espresso martini and Dorothea (dirty) martini. Yes, this place is a GEM and the food and drinks take time for a very good reason.

Thank you Nicole and staff for elevating the dining experience here in the Q. See you soon. Ciao

Pros: Food is great, quick seating without a reservation. Drinks were also good. Not too loud, but comfortable social environmentsCons:Staff was low and disorganized, to the point that I was amused the food was warm. Was only able to order one drink a piece due to slow service. They were kind and empathetic to their sluggishness, but it did take away from the evening.I will be going back, hopefully able to try more drinks!

Our first time at Dorothea's since the business changed. Nice ambiance, greeted immediately, very silicitous from the moment we walked in the door. Had an early reservation just after 5. It was the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Our server took our drink order. We did the signature drinks. Dorothea's dirty martini was to die for...do it! Put in a order for the grilled long-term artichokes on a bed of arugulla...outstanding and a basket of bread. Put our entire order in. Restaurant started getting busy. Came out a little slow from the kitchen but we were in no hurry. Restaurant was filling up. One of us got the wild mushroom pappardelle. Flavor excellent but pasta was way over cooked. Ordered a Niko Gyro...very dry. I had the slavlaki Gyro plate and it was perfect. We were celebrating a birthday and shared a slice of the White cake with raspberries. Delicious as well. The waitress apologized for the slow service, the kitchen was overwhelmed. I will definitely try Dorothea's again. As I said, flavors overall were good. They have some other menu items I want to try.

Based on our selections (first time at Dorothea's), this is Greek food for people who need heat in their food - no matter what it is or how wrong it is. Real Greek souvlaki has no heat! The spice palate was all wrong. The service was fine. Ambience was fine. But this is a strange and disappointing mashup of Greek and everything else you can find anywhere in ABQ.
