The molcajete with meat combo is so delish. So are the birria tacos. It's our go-to when ppl come to visit us. A little pricey.
Back again! Just couldn't stay away. Your food, staff and ambiance is the real thing!! Thank you for the abundance and nutrition.

There are good tacos and there are great tacos. Don Choche serves up great tacos . This out of the way joint sits in the Village of Los Ranchos in the North Valley. But if you're craving tacos than this is the place you wanna be. The menu is extensive but our go to favorite is their Birria Tacos served up with a delicious au jus. And did I mention their gargantuan Shrimp Cocktail? Don Choche is the real deal.

Came for lunch because we were a couple miles away. Glad we did! Great food, friendly people! I had gorditas, my go-to. Flavor awesome, asada yummy, more refried beans and thinner than I am used to, but would definitely get again.DH had combo plate and loved the tamale. Loved my margarita, surprisingly and fantastically sour. Next time will try queso.

Don Choche is a super authentic, super delicious New Mexican Mexican restaurant. I got their 4 taco special where you can choose 2 different tacos. I chose carnitas and birria. The birria was amazing and came with the most delicious consumé. The birria meat was super moist and flavorful and it had a bunch of cheese some of it was even crispy it was soooo delicious! The carnitas with onions and cilantro "street taco style" was equally good. They give you free chips and salsa. They have a salsa bar you can get different salsas. My favorites were their green salsa and their pineapple salsa. There's plenty of parking, nice indoor seating and a clean bathroom. Overall this was an excellent meal and I'd eat here again in a heartbeat!

Food was mediocre, but I'm assuming their drinks are great. We sat outside on the patio and literally every table around us had either a giant drink served in a blender or some form of a margarita. People were not really ordering food which I found interesting. The outside area was very nice to sit. I've been to the brick and mortar and also tried their food truck. Again, the food is alright.

My friend and I came in wanting a light snack. I really wanted to try a few different taco meats. The young lady told me that I could choose two different ones for the 4 taco special, but when I said I wanted tripas, she said that one had to be all four. Sad for me, but I decided to go ahead with it and then get a shrimp taco as well (yes, that's 5 tacos!). The tripas taco was delicious, but as well know, pretty fatty and filling. As much as I love tripas, and this one was really dang good, the shrimp taco was a million times better! Had I known, I would have gotten like 10 shrimp tacos!Absolutely delicious!

A friend recommended this place. We've obviously been by it many times but never noticed or considered going here. We gave it a try. You walk in and are greeted by a host at the counter. She was congenial and pleasant. Mexican music was playing over the speakers. A bit too loud but she accommodated my request to turn it down a bit. No frownie face given. A definite plus. Grabbed some menus and a table. Looked over the huge number of selections. Ordered a beer and Michelada. Well, the Michelada comes in a topped up blender jar. It was HUGE and very good!We selected the Choche's and a shrimp cocktail. The choche is 3 rolled chicken enchiladas in a creamy green chile sauce. Spicy and very good. The shrimp cocktail was loaded with shrimp and other goodness. All in all, a nice find. We'll be back and likely bring staff in for a Thirsty Thursday gathering.

Our new favorite place. Delicious and authentic. The house enchiladas and any green chile brisket tacos are favorites but we haven't gone wrong yet.

I love their nachos! However, I gave them 3-stars rating because the Don Choches #2 food truck, which usually parks at Marble Brewery on 1st and 2nd on Fridays, gave me stale chips. It was so disappointing.

I was having a bad craving for some GOOD Mexican food and most of our go-tos have either closed (sad) or have just not stayed at the high quality level we loved them for (also sad). Because of this, I convinced my hubby to join me on the adventure of checking this place out. I am so freaking glad that we came here! Nestled in a little spot right on 4th street, there is plentiful parking in the back. The first thing I noticed when we walked in was how fun the patio looks (but way too cold at the moment for that). The patio looks like a blast when the weather is warmer! The dining room is pretty small and can quickly get crowded. You order at the counter and sit down. Service was excellent and she was very patient with us when we couldn't decide with all the plentiful options. They have your classics that you'll find on nearly every Mexican restaurant menu but they also have A LOT that you won't find elsewhere typically: chilequiles, nachos, and breakfast all day!Admittedly, I wanted to branch out but my standard with a new spot is the combo plate to try a bit of everything (green chile brisket nachos are next on the list when we come back). The combo at Don Choche had an enchilada, tamale, and relleno. It was massive and delicious with Christmas. Their salsas/sauces have a kick which I thought was great but those sensitive to spice may want to ask for it on the side. Hubby got the gorditas with green chile brisket (and yes, it's amazing but better than you can imagine) and the carne asada. Absolute perfection. The chips are delicious and there's a salsa bar with an assortment of salsas (you get two with the chips but you can get more for $.25 each container). We also tried the Don Choche lager which was a perfect pairing and served in an awesome skull mug. They looked to have quite the selection of other beers (a mix of draft and bottles) along with margaritas and I saw a sign that they had mojitos on the way out that I had missed initially. There's also an assortment of agua frescas. Everything was fresh and quite literally one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to and I'm born & raised here. Even hubby who is usually very picky about Mexican food had no words and was blown away. He literally said it was one of favorite restaurants at the moment- he was talking about it all afternoon. I agree with Chris U. that this place is an absolute goldmine and an amazing find. We will absolutely be back.
