Diaz Kitchen & Sushi Bar

After a trip to the botanical garden, we were craving some sushi. After a quick Yelp search we ended up at Diaz. There was abundant parking on Saturday afternoon.We ordered the seafood salad, the hearty roll, the chicken udon noodles and ginger tea to split between the three of us. The ginger tea was amazing. Spicy and warming and such a great way to start the meal. The salad came out, and wow! So full of fresh fish, avocado and masago. So pleasantly surprised with how good it was. The roll was cute, in little hearts and was good, and the noodles were alright. Will definitely be back for the tea and salad!!The waiter was super nice and attentive. When we came in we were the only ones in there, but two other groups showed up mid meal, but service stayed great.

Cannot believe this place has 4.7 starts on Yelp.....After waiting over 3 months to have a "date" with my wife after having our baby boy, I wanted to take her to what was rated the absolutely best sushi restraunt in the downtown area. We have gone to Shogun sushi in Knob Hill a few times and have always had a pleasant experience. However, knowing there was an event in Knob Hill last night, we assumed parking was going to be very difficult.I did my research online (like most people do) and it was between Diaz Kitchen & Sushi Bar and Sushi Hana (which we clearly should have chosen). Upon arrival, there was only one other couple seated at the sushi bar. You know that feeling when you walk into a restaurant and your instincts tell you to turn around? Yeah, that's what we should have done. However, having planned this evening and location, we decided to stay. For starters, the menu and pricing for sushi is literally the highest priced sushi in all of Albuquerque (based on my experience). Almost $10 for a 2-piece nigiri. A large beer $15 and same for large hot sake. The music playing overhead was rap with blatent focus on F'ing B's.... We ordered six orders of nigiri (salmon, yellowtail and albacore). They were presented on a boat and will respect the presentation delivery. They were also large pieces of fish but that didn't matter as anyone with any real experience with sushi could tell it wasn't fresh. The real issue on top of this was the rice was not only ice-cold (which should never be the case but was being pulled out of a Tupperware container not a rice cooker/warmer), it had zero flavor and was a massive amount.For a restaurant with such high ratings (probably based on over-sauced rolls and fried items), this was a massive letdown. We didn't order anything else despite still being very hungry. Wasn't going to pay $16+ dollars for a hand roll.The bill for the nigiri, one large Supporo and one large hot sake was over $100 (before tip). You can find numerous other locations serving far better sushi for less. Avoid at all costs!

What a surprise to find this eatery downtown ABQ. First impression was the eclectic, beautiful, stunning atmosphere! Something that you would find in beautiful Los Angeles or in Hollywood . The owner, Manuel Diaz came over and welcomed us and said someone would be right with us. Bam, our waiter was elegant and presented a beautiful menu and took our beverage order. The sushi and main entrée were beautifully presented and delicious (see photos). Will most definitely be recommending this place and coming back for more frequent visits!

This place is delicious and family friendly. The service was very nice, I forgot my phone and our sever ran out to give it to me! Thank you so much. The sushi was tasty and fresh. We celebrated my sister's birthday, and we had a good time.

Went there for dinner on a Wednesday. No problem getting a table at around 6. Service was great. We had the Kanikama roll which was really good. Had three Nigiri which were good but for a few of them the fish was just sitting on the rice and not really incorporated so it was almost impossible to eat. We will go back.

This was such a great dinner place! The service from Bam was spectacular and everything we ordered was tasty and I'd order again. The monkey balls which I ordered with light tempura were not over fried and had a healthy serving of spicy tuna. The spicy shelled edamame was made with spicy chili oil and sriracha, which was nice that I had other items to balance with. The rolls are pricey but oh so worth it. We ordered the hearty roll and New York roll and would go back to order them again.Highly recommend!

Diaz kitchen suggests Mexican food, but Diaz kitchen & Sushi Bar?Two story restaurant windows floor to ceiling in downtown Alburquerque on Central Ave.Service is leisurely taking about 8 minutes for the noodles to arrive, and 19 minutes for the sushi to arrive.$23.92 seafood pan fried noodles came with six good sized shrimp, over a ton of noodles, covering cabbage, broccoli and sliced carrots. The noodles lacked crispness when cooked at high temperatures on a wok. Large serving size.Choosing the rice noodles may have been a mistake, and should have used ramen noodles, as most of the flavor was from the cabbage juice, and the shrimp. Have yet to find a place in Albuquerque that serves tasty shrimp, as it is 800 miles from the Pacific Ocean, and 900 miles from the Gulf Coast. $10.40 New Mexico roll came with crab avocado cucumber rice and green chili wrapped in seaweed covered with sauce. Good value, as it had similar flavor from the shrimp tempura which costs 50% more. First time had green chili in sushi, but not noticeably spicy.$15.60 Shrimp tempura roll came with crab, avocado, cucumber and shrimp rice wrapped in seaweed. Not much flavor from the shrimpSplurging in New Mexico. $63 dinner for two was the most expensive meal on our 8 day trip to Albuquerque and Santa Fe.Could have done without the hip hop rap music, as wife would have plugged her ears but needed her hands to eat the food.

Initial impression was good. Was seated with my coworkers and ordered in a timely fashion. Drinks came out shortly after and my coworkers loved the Thai ice tea. Maybe 15 minutes later we were given miso soup and it was okay. Nothing special. About 35 minutes after we ordered the food for my coworkers was delivered. Just two sushi rolls, nothing fancy or that needs lot of prep or cook time. Finally after 50 minutes my Chirashi was delivered. The fish was old (I know I'm in New Mexico and not going to get anything off the boat - but the 7/11 has better sushi). The rice didn't even have the furikake flakes to season it.The waiter never checked in with us. A family of five that came in after we got our miso soup came in and ordered + had their food delivered before any of us had our food given to us. Waiter took an additional 10 minutes after clearing out plates to give us the check. The place wasn't packed, we were sat at 7:20 PM and there were less than 10 patrons inside. Came here because of the 4.5 stars on Yelp, but I'll never come back.

We rolled into town on a road trip and quickly found Diaz close to our hotel. What a score! Beautiful little place! Service was perfect and food too notch. We had a poke bowl (loaded!) and udon noodle soup with shrimp (6 healthy ones). Make sure to go here soon

Food & service was amazing! I had the fried rice and my son had beef ramen. Great flavors, fun vibe, and fantastic service.
