Went very well the Project Manager Lou Castillo looked over my roof and handled the interaction with my insurance company to get the hail damage repaired. They weren't going to fix anything except a few tiles that got damaged by the wind until Lou talked to them. Now I have a new Roof,The crew worked hard and got the work done in just a day and a few hours the next morning. They did a little bit of painting as agreed to but I needed more painting to suit my HOA. I bought the paint and Lou Castillo and his Painter Manuel Marques came over and painted what I needed and kept volunteering to paint more (my side yard concrete wall, both gates, Chimney, AC unit, the soffit and fascia all around the house and the gutters and downspouts, garage door and more, even the bench in my front yard!. They did a great job. I got a whole lot more value than I expected. They worked for 2 and a half days painting whatever I pointed out. The roof work was very good, I have no complaints there, but Lou and Manuel really went over and above what I expected

I contracted Design Co Construction to re roof my home, which had a LEAK FREE tar and gravel roof prior to them touching my roof at all. I had newly purchased my home after living/renting the home for a number of years prior, during which time, there were NO LEAKS ANYWHERE IN THE HOME!!!! As soon as Design Co Constructions' team started "re roofing" my home, the problems began. There have been leaks in EVERY SINGLE ROOM of my 4 bedroom home. Not just in each of the 4 bedrooms, but in the garage, in the living room, in the front entry room, the kitchen, EVERY ROOM IN THE HOUSE has had AT LEAST 1 LEAK!!!! I have been in direct contact with the owner of Design Co Construction since day #1. In fact, the company was referred to me by a trusted friend. I cannot put into words how much I regret ever contacting this company to touch my roof on my newly purchased $400,000.00 home in Albuquerque NM. Not only have there been leaks in EVERY SINGLE ROOM OF THE HOME, but upon further investigation, I found that this company never pulled a permit to re roof my home, subsequently, a final inspection was never even done, much less approved/passed. Let me clarify, when I say leaks, I mean that the inner ceiling has COLLAPSED from water damage throughout my home. I have over 50 pictures and more than 5 videos recorded that show absolute and undeniable proof that this company HAS NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING AT ALL!!! Most recently, I have rented my home to a family. I first received calls and texts from them about leaks in the roof in mid to late July of 2019, although reported leaks were minimal at the time. Today is December 8th 2019, I reported the leak issues to the "owner" of the company DIRECTLY. He assured me that Design Co would fix the current problem/leak under their initial 10 year warranty (mind you, this most recent leak is AT LEAST the 10th leak I have had since this company destroyed my roof to begin with"). During "re roof work" this company has attempted to cut corners at every possible turn. The OWNER has continuously and intentionally told me 1 thing, and then SPECIFICALLY instructed his team to do another thing in an attempt to put a band-aid on a BROKEN ROOF, OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!! This kind of company should be legally inoperable. The fact that this kind of poor workmanship and false promises regarding scope of work is even allowed to continue without CRIMINAL CHARGES, is ABSOLUTELY mind boggling to me. I will be taking swift, harsh, and full legal actions immediately, and I would STRONGLY ADVISE YOU AND ANYONE YOU KNOW TO NOT ONLY STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY ***** UP YOUR ROOF AND THE VALUE OF YOUR HOME, BUT TO MAKE SURE TO TAKE TO SOCIAL MEDIA, THE BBB, ANGIES LIST, THE NEW MEXICO STATE CONTRACTORS BOARD AND ANY OTHER RELEVANT ENTITY to put this piece of ***** company out of business for good and protect ALL New Mexico homeowners from being in the same position I am now in due to this companies sheer lack of competence.Desired Resolution: ReplacementDesired OutcomeI have an existing quote from a non-partisan, 3rd party roofing company to actually fix the damage that Design Co Construction caused to my property. I DO NOT want another Design Co Construction employee/owner/worker on my roof ever again. The quote I have to properly repair the roof is approximately $60,000.00. The repair work needed for the interior of the home due to water damage has yet to be determined. The lost monies I have suffered by having to relieve my tenants of their rent due to water POURING ON THEIR HEADS AT NIGHT, is in excess of $8,000.00. All in all, Design Co owes me approximately $100,000.00. I will not stop pursuing this matter through the courts until it has been resolved to my satisfaction and to the level that was initially promised, warrantied, and guaranteed by Design Co Construction. Legal actions are being taken as soon as possible, and I will not rest until ALL New Mexico homeowners are aware of this sham/con man run company!!!!!!!! I HAVE many MANY PICTURES AND VIDEOS OF THIS BULLSHIT COMPANIES WORK. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONACT ME DIRECTLY 24/7 FOR PICTURES/VIDEOS OF THIS CON ARTIST/SCAM COMPANIES WORK!

So apparently my leak was repaired. When? I have no idea! Supposedly the guy came to my house. Did not ring the door bell or tell anyone he was here to repair the leak. He just entered my property and did the work and then left.It took this Yelp review to FINALLY get some answers.6 months of me calling Russell's phone, business line and emails with NOT ONE RESPONSE to put a fire under his and DesignCo's feet.So yeah the roof isn't leaking as of now and hopefully it won't once the out of nowhere severe rain storms and occasional snow storm hits us here in Albuquerque. I was told that the front door overhang is not DesignCo's responsibility because they were not paid to repair or replace the 4x4 plywood. Even though it was damaged and replaced by a flimsy 1/4" 4x4 sheet when the had to replace the roof due to shotty workmanship. It rained during that time so the overhang was damaged from the inside out. But DesignCo claims they're not responsible because it wasn't part of the job to begin with but because of DesignCo it was damaged. I was told I was trying to get some freebies and that my roof is closer to 8 years old and not 5. I know it's 5 because I got the date from the pics I took during the installation of the first roof.So anyhow! Apparently my leak has been fixed but the 3 shades of gray, the front door overhang and the small triangular piece of facia. I'm Done! The overhang and facia I can replace myself. The 3 shades of gray and my roof looking older than the 2 neighbors who had their roofs replaced right after mine and still looking great. I'll just have to live with it!Would I recommend DesignCo for any type of roof work. NO! As far as the construction side of DesignCo? I have no idea so I won't say anything negative about their construction. All it took was 2 phone calls! 1 rom the guy to let me know he was coming to fix the leak, let us know it was done and a good bye.Second phone would have or should have been from Russell and or DesignCo notifying me that the gut came and did whatever. But NO! I had to make once a week calls and emails and I believe there were a few text for 6 months with NO response or replies and this Review wouldn't exist. Now I'm asked to remove it because they went beyond with their services. Which was another thing. Don't say you'll be there and never show up! This is what started all of this.So NO I will not remove my Review but have updated that the leak was supposedly repaired and I will not be asking for advice on how to Sue DesignCo.

Do not use design co construction. They are shady, do c***** work and will not honor their warranties. They did a roof cost us almost $5000. Hired out different people to do the work. They did it in like 2 days and it started leaking by our front door 2 months later, after it started rating our. Also our um above where the flasher and dryer are in the hallway was leaking did not care about any of this stuff. We took him to court. He lied through his teeth under oath, The LA was on our side. We did not get everything that we wanted. We only got paid back for what we put over the living room on the roof where the leak was. Because nobody could find it. We were lied to ignore treated like c*** Don't use them and if you did. And you had a shoddy job, take him to court

If I could rate less than a one star I would. Much like the review posted by KT on 02/28/2019 DesignCo also placed TPO Material on top of a hail damaged roof. Not only on top of the old roof but on top of wires, cable, debris, etc. I have the photos to prove. I contacted DesignCo for two years and explained they had been paid to removed the old roof and that I would be reporting this to my insurance provider as fraud. Russell Hawks made promises to fix the issues but never kept the promises. I also feel like DesignCo makes it a practice to do as little work, such as removing the old roof, in order to keep that money. They also use scrap pieces of material as you can clearly see the TPO was seamed together, or attempted to seam together. I hope they do not continue to do business in this community. I am comfortable in what goes around comes around!

I can't say enough good about Designco. After the hailstorm in Belen our roof was damaged Designco replaced the old shingle one with a new metal roof. Their entire staff was completely professional and we love our new roof. We highly recommend Designco. Thank you to Mike and Russell and all of your hard working staff.

I like to support small companies, but this one seems to suffer from bad management and lack of quality control. I think the company grew too fast after the big hail storm last summer. DesignCo installed a metal roof on my house over a badly hail-damaged shingle roof that had developed leaks. The sales rep Jesse said they'd put on an underlayment over the shingles, but they didn't. He later said it was optional, but I think he was cost-cutting to profit more from my insurance settlement. The roofers were new hires according to the project manager (who no longer works there). They cross-cut some roof panels, didn't cut and fit the trim correctly or replace the vents, left a lot of sharp metal bits and screws on the ground, and nobody checked their work. I took photos of the job in progress, and I was glad I did. It passed the city inspection, but the inspector and my neighbors noticed the unprofessional appearance. After several weeks and many calls to Jesse and Michael to get the problems resolved, the owner Russell Hawks finally came to inspect the roof, agreed that they did a bad job, and he made some repairs himself after dark the next night. But I had to call him again many times because he repeatedly failed to keep his appointments to return and finish the work. No one in the office ever returned my phone messages until I offered to sue. After a lot of waiting and no-shows it took 2 months to finish the job, although Russell still refused to re-do the roof with underlayment as I'd been promised. My workmanship warranty is for 5 years but I wonder if DesignCo will last that long without better management.
