For the record. I was there. They could not tell me what they charge.

This was a first time visit. I found the reception desk staff and Dr Shilpa Reddy to be pleasant and professional. It was the most thorough dermatology exam I had received in a decade. The last two providers were nice but did not provide complete full body exams.

I saw the dr for two minutes. Just quick. Was told to buy Neutrogena T-Gel shampoo. No concern at all about my itchy scalp or skin. I won't be back.

My review of Dermatology of New Mexico centers on unfair charges. I have gone to other dermatologists in Albuquerque and had skin tags and warts removed by freezing it off with liquid nitrogen. I had never been charged beyond my co-pay. I had one wart removed with this process. Imagine my surprise where the Doctor priced the 3 second procedure at $215 and I'm responsible for $120. If they over charge for this small procedure imagine how they milk their customers for more invasive procedures.

I was charged (as well as my insurance) for a specialist visit to Dr. Reddy whom I did not see. Instead I saw the very personable Sabrina Johnson. I was there because "Male Pattern Baldness" does not discriminate based on gender and I wanted a prescription for Minoxidil tablets 2.5 mg. which will promote hair growth. Ms. Johnson gave me the prescription with instructions to return in four months. She did not tell me of any possible side effects of the medication (she may not have known, herself, which does not speak well of her.) After some five or so days I noticed my right leg was very swollen. I went to my primary care provider who sent me to a phlebotomy lab for testing to be sure that I did not have a blood clot blocking the circulation. The result showed no evidence of a clot. It then occurred to me to check for possible side effects of Minoxidil and I saw that fluid retention was one and that Minoxidil should be taken along with Spironolactone which is a diuretic. I immediately ceased taking the Minoxidil. I called Ms. Johnson asking for a prescription for Spironolactone and was told to make an appointment to come in first. I will make an appointment with someone I feel is more competent and would appreciate any recommendations.

This is a mixed review. First, I have had psoriasis for years and used to treat it with biologics. For several reasons I went off and the psoriasis has crept back, to the point that I'm losing my nails and my scalp is a mess. In July I went to Dermatology of New Mexico and had an appointment with Sabrina Johnson. Had a very good consultation with her. After that, it has not gone so well due to a lack of follow up. I didn't hear anything for ages on getting a prescription and left several messages to get a call back. Finally got a letter that my insurance denied the medication requested. Okay. While I'm not surprised, what I question is why it took so long to get an answer. My insurance company says they didn't hear from them until mid-August. A month after I was there. Now, a week and a half ago I got a letter that my insurance company approved a different medicine, but 10 days later they still haven't received a prescription. Come on! If I didn't want to start over, I'd start over.

If early detection and treatment are the key to treating skin cancer, this is not for you. My primary care took one look and told me I am the poster child for skin cancer, with multiple moles, growths and precancerous marks. And this was looking at just my arm and head. I have tried to see anyone there, they canceled my appointment, said they would squeeze me in the following month. I had a cold and they pushed my appointment out to May. Early detection? I'll be dead before anyone bothers to see me.

Took a while to get in because of insurance. But the staff was helpful. The doctor removed the skin cancer from my lip with almost no scarring. The follow up full body scan was informative as well. I learned that my body stops making moles at about 50 years of age. After that, if I get a mole, which I did, it will be cancerous. Good job to all.

I just had to walk. Their office policy makes you accept that they can charge you any amount and you have to pay no matter what you coverage is. I asked the simple question about how much my visit would cost and they told me to call my health care provider. Wow! I refused until they could tell me what they were going to charge me. Seems like all they want is a blank check.

Dr. Shilpa Reddy in my estimation is excellent. This is based on my history of seeing many dermatologists over the years. She is by far the best. She is calm, professional and caring. I have had many procedures. All are done with care and excellent technique with very good results. Clearly she takes the importance of her job seriously. Dr. Reddy's support staff are also professional, careful and use good technique. I highly recommend her and her office.
