We came here on our Route 66 vacation and are glad we did. Even though we didn't make any purchases Charlie the store owner showed us some beautiful vintage Navajo bracelets which were gorgeous, but a little out of my price range.Inside feels more like entering a museum than a southwestern antique store. We really enjoyed talking to Charlie and visiting Cowboys and Indians.

Cowboys and Indians is a pretty cool place! The owner, Charlie, welcomed us with a friendly smile and offered to answer any questions we might have. My buddy got to talking with him about football, which is a subject that I don't relate to. But they had a great conversation as I perused the offerings. This is apparently the only antique shop in the world that specializes in Native American and Cowboy/Spanish era antiques. And, boy, does Charlie have plenty! There are lots of other antique shops in the area, but I sometimes think that it's easy to be overwhelmed by them - because they have such diverse offerings. That won't be the case in this store, because all of the goods are specific to a particular era in American history I didn't end up buying anything, but it was a lot of fun to look at the showcases full of antiques. So if you're in the area, or if you have a hankering for cowboy/Indian antiques, be sure to give this place a try!

Have been here numerous times when passing through ABQ -- always something intersting and unique to see and buy. Excellent selection of vintage silver items (think Fred Harvey) and Beacon blankets ... highly recommend for authentic southwest souvenirs

Great shop. Exhaustive collections of most if not all Pueblo art. Too bad the two staff members that I encountered were unfriendly at best. I will not be returning except maybe to bring out of town guests. The pretension level was off the charts. I also felt as if I was bothering these folks. Please keep the door locked. I wouldn't want any innocent bystanders to think this shop is run by friendly people.

We were the first customers of the day in the middle of the afternoon (that should tell you something). The charge machine wasn't working and the apathetic helper couldn't care less and couldn't call the owner because he was out of town.

Walking from my parked car to Cowboys & Indians Antiques was an experience recently, walked by a woman standing in front of a dumpy motel who was not wearing any shoes, she had on super short shorts, pantyhoes, and was smoking a cigarette with a guy who looked a bit embarrassed to be seen with her. I knew the area was seedy, but it seems to be getting worse. On my way out, I spied a queen sized mattress laying on a sidewalk with a broken TV set up next to it. Albuquerque has the weirdest collection of derelict furniture out on the sidewalks and curbs. But back to COWBOYS & INDIANS ANTIQUES.. You must ring a doorbell to be let into the shop. I have always loved the interior, filled with beautiful examples of jewelry, pottery, baskets, and all sorts of antiques and curiosities of the American Southwest. They also have a good book selection, as well as antique magazines and other periodicals. Picked up a good book on Precolombian pottery.

My husband and I were sent to Cowboys and Indians by a local shop owner. We had some items we were thinking of selling. The shop owner that send us there did not handle Native American items. Anyway, we get to the shop, rang the bell and went inside. The man behind the counter, youngish man with dirty blonde to brown hair was very unwelcoming. In other words, he had the personality of a rattlesnake! We told him his shop was referred to us and by whom. He shrugged his shoulders and made us feel like we were intruding. I showed him my items which were pretty fragile and he grabbed one of them very roughly. He didn't ask before he grabbed. He then told us he wasn't interested. We also brought in a very old pot. We had been told previously that it was an old pot (we aren't sure of the provinance) and wanted to see if we could get any ideas where it came from. He dismissed it saying it was a repro and didn't even look at it, touch it or look with a loop! I will NEVER go into this shop again. Arrogent, snobby, pretentious best describes this idiot!!!
