I cannot say enough good about this place. First of all, we got there wandering around not knowing where we were and found this place. Looked sketchy but it definitely is not!!! We got there at 4:30 and it looked vacant but we hollered and a gentleman came out and we see it doesn't open till 5 pm. He was very kind and said 'come on in and I can serve you'. The food was awesome!!!! Locally sourced and everything we had was excellent. If you're here and looking for a place to eat, definitely go here. We were very happy!!UPDATE: We ate here again tonight (our only two nights in Santa Fe)because it was so good last night. I absolutely cannot say enough good about this place. Everything was excellent and the presentation of the food is outstanding. The people are wonderful - I think they are all family. You absolutely cannot go wrong eating here and if you don't eat here, you will be missing out on an amazing experience.

We came here for lunch after getting recommendations from a friend and I'm so glad we took her advice. Chef Joaquin is amazing! We had lunch on a Friday afternoon sampling many of the dishes he recommended including the Tableside Elote, (watch my video below), Posole Roho, and Blue Corn Huarache. Each dish was a complex mixture of heavenly flavors carefully curated from the best ingredients. Certainly this was one of the most memorable and satisfying meals in a long time. I will always remember this special meal. With the restaurant not being especially busy during our visit, he spent quite a bit of time talking to us about the history of the restaurant and his family. Wonderful stories about this place. Recommend coming here for lunch as it is less crowded than dinner if you want to chat up Joaquin. The deserts are not to be missed either. There are a number of delightful treats to end your meal. We savored the Tres Leches Cake, Grandma Titia's Pastelitos, and then bought a couple Biscochitos to take home and have with coffee in the morning.Parking can be difficult in the area, mostly have to find a spot on the street.

My boyfriend and I have really close friends who are from and visit Santa Fe and they took us to Casa Chimayo and it was absolutely fantastic. The interior was very authentic to the Pueblo style but still really tastefully done. We really wanted the New Mexican cuisine experience and we were blown away. Their menu was large and honestly, I had such a hard time trying to narrow down to just one option. Their prices are mid to high so this is more of a fancy experience but we found the quality really delivered. I ended up getting the duck mole and we did the table side guacamole and elote. I ordered the blood orange margarita and I'll warn, it was so yummy you couldn't taste the alcohol. John ordered the frozen margarita and sangria swirl - which we heard is a New Mexican classic. Our waitress was great. Attentive and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. She was a gem.

We joined relatives here near the end of our cross-country road trip, and began with Tableside Guacamole and Tortilla Chips, Queso Fundido, Elote, and Chicken Tortilla Soup. The hot soup was very good, the Elote very tasty, the Chips fine with mild Guac, and Queso Fundido with Mushrooms good. But the soup left some spice in my throat and spice in the nose, undoubtedly from Chili Peppers and Cayenne Pepper included in the broth. For, this was Northern New Mexican cuisine which as I experienced it is much more fiery than purely Mexican food.Diane ordered a Shrimp Quesadilla but initially was presented with a plain Cheese Quesadilla. She received a Shrimp Quesadilla on the second try but the amount of shrimp included was skimpy. Our relatives enjoyed Fajitas, and my unusual choice of Chile En Nogada, with a Fire Roasted Pablano Pepper stuffed with Ground Angus Beef, pomegranate seeds, raisins, toasted almonds, onions, pears, apple and apricots covered in a Walnut Cream Sauce with Jerez (Spanish sherry) served with Mexican Rice and Beans was certainly interesting and not unpleasant. But the Chicken Tortilla Soup clutched my throat, and caused me to lose my voice momentarily; the Salsa provided heated my gut; and the Poblano Pepper attacked my chest. It was a very good authentic New Mexican dinner which prompted me to down two very good scoops of Vanilla Bean Ice Cream at meal's end to soothe my gut. Service was good, and ambiance great with old world Mexico sombrero and serape charm.

This was leveled up Mexican food in a still-casual environment. The three of us who had this meal really enjoyed the experience. The food was all excellent and the servers helpful and friendly. Our appetizers, including the elote made at table size and the pan of stretchy queso fundido served with tortillas, were a delicious start. For the entree I ordered something I can't usually get at our local Mexican restaurants: the Chile En Nogada, a poblano pepper stuffed with ground beef, apple, apricot, pear, raisin, and pinon, and topped with a walnut cream sauce and a sprinkling of pomegranate seeds. It was a deft balance between the hearty filling and the elegance of the silky sauce and jewel-like pomegranate seed topping. Just a beautiful dish. There are indoor or outdoor dining options, and it's convenient to the Railyard and not far from the Plaza (we walked from our hotel). Highly recommended.

This review is a couple of weeks overdue. We recently traveled to Santa Fe, Taos and ABQ and discovered one of the most wonderful restaurants - Casa Chimayo. What a total gem!! The ambience and decor are beautiful - very comfortable and warm. The food is 10 stars! So good in fact, that we dined there twice on our trip. They make the BEST tamarind margarita. I really wanted to take one home with me in my carry on! We had the elote which they prep at the table for you, blue corn tortilla dish with shrimp, fajitas (vegetable), the coconut flan and more. Everything was beautifully prepared, presented and outstanding. The owners are Benina and Joaquin. Benina is super nice and will tell you all about how the restaurant came to be and how they use her grandmother's recipes. They really went out of their way to provide a fantastic dining experience. If you are in Santa Fe, please be sure to make reservations here and GO! You will not be disappointed. To the Quintana's, thank you for making our vacation special!
