Given a choice between supporting a chain restaurant or a locally owned and run establishment, local almost always gets support from me first.Awesome wifey found this spot during her research, so we had to check it out. The restaurant had loads of parking around it for cars and a reasonable sized lot next to it for trucks, buses and trailers. Our server managed the section of 6-8 tables well and refilled my sweet tea without request. She also brought out a basket of thin restaurant chips and salsa that was mildly hot and refreshingly flavorful. We ordered a stuffed Sopapilla which was very interesting--like a superior version of enchiladas; The Duke Burger which was bursting with flavors; and a Green Hill Chilli Burger which I found fascinating. The fries were superbly golden brown and had a particularly crispy exterior! We were so thrilled with our lunches that we ordered a piece of pie from the case. We were informed that a lady who was not an employee of the restaurant makes and sells them there. We did not catch the hint, and went ahead and ordered a Rhubarb Pie. It was a 2 star. Doughy crust, insipid filling--$4.50 mistake...That said, we will certainly return to visit whenever we pass through.

They are good but not fantastic. Way too many items to choose from. I think the kitchen has so many things to cook, they don't do the food justice. But please go try for yourself.

Fish tacos, chilli rellenos, potatoes, and rice (thanks for the tip Amanda!) were all so good! The beans were just eh, but that was OK because two entrees and chips and salsa were more than two people could eat without getting over-full anyway. Definitely recommend stopping here on your way wherever.PS- This place is also known as Chilli Hills II

The last visit to CCH was highlighted in my memory by one of the owners (older fellow who happened to be there) coming to my partner and I's table to dispute a coupon I was using for them. Now, there's nothing necessarily wrong with wanting to "talk about" an offer a customer's redeeming... Unless your attitude the whole time is if the customer has done something wrong. Yeah, he was a jerk, which reflects on this entire establishment. Sorry guys, your rating has been reduced.Free advice to the owner: Talking down to a customer, treating them suspiciously, and overall making them feel awkward/unwanted when they've done nothing wrong is probably not a good idea!

Stopped in late on a Sunday night. The waitress was pleasant as she sat us we were the only ones in the restaurant so the service was pretty good but that's about it I ordered Chilli Rellenos with beans and papas the sides were pretty good but when I got to the Rellenos the chilli peppers we're so tough you could not cut them even with a knife I gave three stars because everyone else who was with us seemed to enjoy their meals very much but I was not impressed.

Very disappointed. Food had odd taste to it which reminded me of cat litter- had to be old and stale. Same quality at the Edgewood stop. Had a bad case of montezumas revenge when I got home- now I know that wasn't my imagination.

So we stopped in this little town for the night and we wanted to eat a decent meal. We drove down Route 66 and found this tiny restaurant. Never judge a book by its cover is so true! AWESOME service. GREAT food. EXCELLENT prices. My whole family was happy with their meals. This will always be my future rest stop!

We went on a Tuesday night at about 7:30, but the place was completely dark and no cats in the parking lot. We were quite disappointed because there are not many dining choices in Moriarty, N.M.

We were in NM this Memorial Day weekend and had the opportunity to eat at Chilli Hills twice. Once for breakfast and once for dinner. The breakfast was really excellent and the service was outstanding. The dinner was good quality and the service was fair and friendly. I would recommend eating here as your choices are limited in this small town. Prices were reasonable also.

We tried this place once and everything was OKAY. We went back last night and NEVER again! Stay away from this place! I'm sure they mix canned dog food into the beans. The staff was less than accommodating when we politely complained. We live on the road and are in the area for work. We don't have time to be sick. We have both been sick since we left. Yuck! Try sharing a toilet in a cramped travel trailer! If you value your health and employment, NEVER eat here!
