"This place has some great instructors and really good workouts. The instructors range from hippie-dippie love and light types (my preference) to matter-of-fact "feel it burn" types. Some move quickly through the poses without much explanation, others focus more on articulating intent of a pose. You can probably find an instructor that fits anyone's taste. They offer a number of classes daily too, to suit just about any schedule, and they run from 1 to 1.5 hours, morning til night. That's awesome. The space is also marvelous - very well heated, large and spacious; you never seem to be packed in too tight, like some studios I've been to. It's super clean and has a great vibe. They offer towels and water, at a cost, and mats and toiletries for free. Seriously, from the organic shampoos and lady-products to the wet-gear bags and hair ties, Hot Yoga Downtown really does have their patrons' needs in mind and does a very good job of making you wanna come back. For my taste though, there's not enough variety in class type... at least not by outward appearances. It seems that 95% of classes offered are Vinyasa power yoga... which I love, mind you. But one also needs some deep-state meditation and body-centering to ease any injury one might sustain from the week's grueling power yoga workout schedule! I took more than a week off because I was too sore for power yoga and didn't see a feasible alternative in their class schedule. I loved the one-month trial for $29; man, what a smokin' deal! But for the reason above, I wouldn't consider paying the regular $130/month membership. Cripes, that's half my car payment! I may float $14 on occasion when I'm feeling like a good yoga workout, but I think even that is pretty pricey for a single session. I'll likely sacrifice the Hot Yoga Downtown luxuries (like fancy showers I don't even use) for cheaper membership elsewhere."
"I love this yoga. I have practiced for nearly 2 years and think everything about bikram yoga is wonderful. Whenever I travel I like to take advantage of trying new Bikram studios and I was pleased to find one in Albuquerque. I went to the 6am class and upon walking in the door, the male teacher greeted me with a 'sorry our heat is broken.' Not 'hi' or 'welcome' but a warning of what was to come. Bikram yoga without heat is like ice skating in August. The studio was clean and I imagine that if everything were in proper working condition then it would be a great studio but I would advise that the teachers at the front desk work on a better way of greeting their students."
"I just had an amazing practice today with Kathy Hein. What a kind and empathetic woman! Upon my arrival, she introduced herself and I explained to her that I'm going through some challenges with lower back pain and sciatica. She took the time to show me some modifications, so I could have a safe practice and wouldn't strain anything. During her class, she was constantly checking on us, making sure we were doing the correct form and not pushing ourselves more than we should (the ones with some sort of health concern). It was a gentle and very mindful practice, where I was able to listen to my body, get a great workout and relax my mind. At the beginning of the practice I was stiff and in some sort of pain. At the end, I noticed that I was able to move better and the pain was almost gone. I highly recommend hot yoga if you suffer from body aches and pains. Specifically Kathy at Blissful Spirits. A combination of heat and a great instructor can help ease some of your symptoms."

I don't live in Albuquerque but I travel here occasionally and stay at Hotel Parq Central, which is how I first encountered Hot Yoga Downtown (it's located right across the street from the hotel, so uber convenient for an early morning workout & sweat before hitting the day!) Every class I've taken here has been great. Creative sequencing, playlists that suit the mood/style of the class, and, of course the heat They have on site parking, showers, lockers, and a beautifully-sized yoga room with ample mirrors and windows, as well as a soft floor (which is a huge deal to a skinny yogi like me whose bones are always getting bruised on wooden studio floors!)

Great spot for hot yoga (but beware, they keep it pretty hot and humid!). Purchased their introductory pass for 30 days and it was great to try a bunch of different classes (especially being new to the area and not knowing any of the teachers and/or their styles). It seemed a little cliquey at times, but then again, most yoga studios are that way until you get to know people. One of my main issues with this studio is the lack of sanskrit (but that seems to be a reoccurring theme in the area). All-in-all, it's a nice studio, with a bunch of options for different classes.

"I just returned from a weekend yoga retreat in Jemez Springs, New Mexico with Gloria. Although I have practiced yoga for the last 20 years, this was my first retreat, but certainly not my last! Gloria has a true gift in teaching both the physical practice of yoga as well as the spiritual. I returned from the weekend refreshed, rejuvenated, and inspired. In addition to the relaxing yoga sessions, all the aspects of the retreat were handled extremely well. The place was wonderful, the food was great, there was a nice balance of free time and scheduled activities. My only wish is that I would have discovered this long ago! I highly recommend Gloria's retreat to everyone."
