Sheila W. "I'm a big fan of thrift stores and love to shop at Rethreads and CAV....when Lili's Thrift opened a few months ago, I waited a while before I ventured in the other day. The reason was, it looked too well organized, clean and more like a boutique-- therefore I reasoned, the prices would be high. I was definitely wrong! Owner, Lydia (Lili) Ramirez, has a passion and an eye for trendy women's clothing and accessories and makes sure each item is clean (she even scrubs the soles of the shoes), pressed and in great condition. Many of the items are new. The prices are great: shirts-$2.50 shoes-$5.00 pants-$4.00 dresses-$5.00Lili will be celebrating Halloween with a costume boutique and will be carrying skis and winter clothing. Clare M. "I've been shopping at Bodhi Bazaar since 1995. I'm not sure if my sense of style has changed (well, I hope it has actually considering I'm NOT 15 anymore) but I feel like the clothes were a bit more fun back then. This is still a great place to find things here and there. Always have great jeans and dresses...usually some neat jewelry to look at. A fun pair of shoes mysteriously placed and some fancy underwear in a corner make the shop a bit more special since they have a lot more than just overpriced you couldn't afford anyways. It's a great place to start if you are looking for something special to add to your closet."

Tiffany B. "Wow. Looks like a few people have had really bad experiences here. That's too bad. This place was colorful and filled with jewelry--evidently, that's their main thing. They also had a case of retooled/ embellished Louis Vuitton bags, if the simple brown with logo doesn't meet the expectations of your bedazzler loving heart. They had some flowy, hit the buffet table without shame or fear of busting some buttons shifts, dresses and skirts. Felt like one of the sales ladies was following me around the store like a bad, obvious tail like a cop. It made me feel uncomfortable. Another staff lady was overly eager to describe who made what or what the material of the item was without being asked. Hey, can I just look around and signal if I want a rundown on where the sheep were raised before giving up their wool for this rainbow colored item."

It's not as big as the first one but very good on selection and price. I was able to land my 2nd pair, this time black crocodile and leather. I'm super pleased with both stores, staff was very nice and helpful. Gosh I could buy more boots, one for every day of the week. I'm sure they'll last me many years."

Birdland The Hippie Store

★★★☆☆ 2.9 (9) • $$

Howie K. "I'm really shocked that Birdland has so few reviews. Shocked, I tell you. The place is older than Nob Hill dirt, and it's a survivor. All the haters who thought this hippie-dom would someday tank, guess what? Sip on this bong water, baby. Like a Hendrix guitar lick and the Lava Lamp, Birdland is simply timeless. Hold tight, I've got the munchies...And I'm back. So, what was I writing about, again? OH, right, right. So Birdland. First off, do you know the dryer sheet trick? You take a cardboard toilet paper roll and stuff it with a few dryer sheets. If dad or mom is around, just blow your bong rip through the tube, and bam: linen smoke. Seriously. And while you're at it, you should light some incense that you bought from Birdland. And, dude, you need to cover your windows, man. Get some Zeppelin wall covers, those fabric kind, and just pin 'em up all over the place. They're glow-in-the-dark, dude. And they've got some seriously wicked glass pipes, too. And oh yeah, last time I was there I saw some trippy body piercings. Oh, and they just re-painted that VW bus in the front: it's all psychedelic. Come to think of it, dude, let's just go there already. I'm so jonesing to see what's new.Hold up, hold up. I need to drop some Visine, bro."

Off Broadway

★★★☆☆ 2.8 (23) • $$$

Howie K. "Hands down the best costume and vintage selection in town. And I'm talking about the kinds of costumes that we're supposed to wear: they don't come out of a plastic package, "made" in Pakistan, with copyright approval from Marvel Comics; they're high-quality, handmade in this country, and they'll make you look like the real deal. Vintage is even better. Virtually any period/era/scene can be sourced, it's no wonder that one of the employees is one of the better-known thespians in town. The owner, Susan, has spent decades curating a collection of unique garments, most of them available for rental and purchase (there are two price tags on most items), and their website is pretty comprehensive, to boot: http://offbroadwaycostumes.com/And here's where I'll post a quote from my previous review, because I've definitely grown to appreciate this place more over the years, I'm going here for Halloween because... we'll, to quote what I said: If you must, must, must have that exact costume for that precise historic era or gothic goon or fairy princess that will absolutely kill it at that amazing party you're about to go to and you want to put everybody else to shame, Off Broadway is the place to shop. You'll find it, it'll cost ya, and you'll be the star of the show. The place meticulously cares for a collection of clothes that really isn't matched in this city."

You could miss it if you don't know it's there. I went there because a fellow yelper mentioned that they sell TOMS. I've been wanting a pair for awhile. A lot of places sell BOBS, but not TOMS. You walk in to this small boutique and are surrounded by unique gifts and clothes. Lots of yoga and fitness style clothing is available. There's jewelery, purses, and a small selection of shoes, including a variety of different TOMS colors and styles. A month ago or so after getting Gelato at Frost we were wondering around after most of the shops had goosed and stumbled across Avanti Milano.Last week we finically came back and took a look around. They currently had a promotion going on for purchasing a certain amount of suits. Different price points for different tiers of quality of suits. Richard was absolutely wonderful and helped my hubby find suits that were the right cut and size for him. He paid attention to detail and picked colors that my hubby had said he preferred. Hubby was able to find 3 suits he liked, 2 ties and a shirt and Richard hooked us up with some sweet deals as well. Overall very impressed with our experience and would recommend. Daniel D. "I had some time to kill before my movie so I decided to walk around Cottonwood wall since to my surprise it was still open after 6pm. For it being a Sunday I have to say I was a bit shocked til I saw the Santa booth by the elevator and was reminded it was the holiday season so during the holidays they extend the hours. Anyways after walking around I found this shop. They had a lot of home decor, furniture, hand made blankets, apparel, geo rocks, novelties, jewelry, and so much more related to New Mexico. The blankets they had were so soft and neat, if I didn't have to buy Christmas presents, I would've bought one for myself. They had these dia de los muertos figurines that I absolutely fell in love with! The furniture they had was gorgeous! Wooden bed frames, tables, and even leather couches that were so comfortable and neat. The home decor items they had ranged from wooden sculptures to hand crafted metal figurines. They offered so much. Admittedly the prices were a bit high but it's to be expected for handcrafted products. The mineral rocks were gorgeous but pricey as well. Definitely didn't much under $10 but admittedly everything seemed very good quality so the prices I thought were fair. They are located where the old Zumies was by the elevator in the middle of the mall by the candle shop."

My mom found a brand new dress for $50 which originally went for around $300. We know because the original price tag was still on it! And it was a fabulous dress. The jewelry in the front of the store is very high end and fine jewelry. Most pieces are made by local artists. I regret not buying one piece and am writing this review because l was thinking about calling the store and ordering one and having it shipped to me. I didn't find much in my budget but did find a pretty skirt in the clearance area in the front of the store that is great quality. If l lived here l would be a regular customer. If you're in town, it's worth the concerted effort to find as C+C is a haven of loveliness!Where do I begin? One can literally find cashmere in every muted, bright and in-between color of the rainbow in socks, scarves, wraps, shawls, gloves, hats, etc. Whether you're a lover of the palest pink or the boldest blue, there is a hue of the rainbow for you to fall for at Chocolate and Cashmere. The story of the shop is just as lovely-single mother puts an advertisement for cashmere hats in the New Yorker and grows her business to two shops in Taos and Santa Fe where everything is made nearby. You can tell each item is made with care, and the fact that products are local and reasonably priced is the icing on the cake. And don't even get me started on the chocolates. I'd recommend a favorite flavor, but each is divine in its very own way. I think the most telling is that I've been back once since my initial purchase of 6 chocolates and a multi-colored scarf and plan to stop into the Santa Fe store when we visit tomorrow!Chocolate + Cashmere is a true delight and would stand out as much in a larger city as it does the small town of Taos."
