"Had a family group of 9 at El Nido for dinner on a Wed night in Dec. Outstanding service and food! (Granted it was a slow night.) Cocktails were great. Everyone loved what they ordered: salmon, branzino, limoncello chicken, pork chop & mole, wagyu burger, 2 kinds of pizzas, and filet mignon. Can't say enough about how beautiful and tasty the dishes were. Spacious dining rooms made for fairly quiet dining. I would definitely eat here again the next time I'm in Santa Fe."
"I'm giving 4 stars because everything I ordered was delicious. The Kookmeyer burrito with calamari, jalapeños, cream cheese, rice, avacado wrapped in seaweed was ao yummy The Philadelphia roll was good too. I really liked the green Chile egg roll. I wasn't real impressed with the menu. A lot of the rolls had Krab which is just white fish soaked in crab oil. I'm not a fan. I have another sushi place I like where I get more food for less money so I'm not sure if I'll be back."

"Favorite place to get sushi in town. Best quality and flavor. If its a weekend night I would say be prepared for a wait because it gets quite packed. I usually do lunch when its a little bit slower. I always get the chefs choice sashimi that comes with miso soup, either a spicy tuna roll or California. Also comes with either 8-10 pieces of nigiri, large portions of fish at that. I would say I go here once every other week and will continue to do so. Love this place!"
"Food was great, the sushi was delicious and the service was great. Highly recommend the Yummy Yummy roll."
"One of our favorite spots!! We go every New Years! Service is awesome! Sushi is amazing! Nice variety at good prices!!"
"Yummy!!! I'm so glad I tried this little place! It's a very small very friendly staff !The food is pretty good! We had the fried dumplings which were perfect! The crab rangoons are delicious. They do taste different but super good! The Prawns with candied pecans was good just super sweet! The sushi was fresh and perfect!"
"Japanese food in ABQ is pretty difficult to locate. I was in search of authentic flavors, not Japanese fusion. I had Nagomi bookmarked and was glad we finally tried it! On this first visit we were hesitant to try any raw seafood in fear that the sashimi & sushi would not be the freshest. We settled on Pork katsu, Japanese curry and sukiyaki. The curry had an eggplant option as well as the usual katsu choice. The curry sauce was really good. Sukiyaki was good, but not what I would call traditional. Soft shell crab app was also great as the crabs were plump! Will dine here again when I return!"
"Nice enough place for the price. Wonderful and warm service. Wish the rice was bit "stickier"but overall a nice experience. Miso soup is exceptional."
"My sister took me to this location for dinner. I had never been there, despite it being there for years. Walking inside, I had no idea that it would look like that. If you've ever been to an Island's restaurant, in California, it is that kind of fake polynesian kitsch. It was a little dark inside. Raised booths, on the right hand side. Larger tables in the center. My sister and I had a two-top by the bathroom and "gift shop."The menu was larger than I had anticipated. There were dishes from several Asian countries. There is also a sush menu. We ordered a sushi roll that had green chile tempura inside. Sadly, the green chile didn't have much heat nor flavor. There was way too much spicy mayo sauce for my liking. I tried to scrape off as much as I could. My sister ordered fried tofu, for her dinner. I asked for the mapo tofu, after confirming that it had ground pork in it. I really enjoyed my sister's fried tofu. The coating was crispy, but not greasy. The portion size was huge. The mapo tofu had a wonderful flavor, spicy but not too spicy. It was a big portion size, so I took about half of it home. My sister liked mine, as well. Service was good. The gift shop was a small display case with a few "friendship" bracelets and door hangers. There were also three ceramic parrots that hold bottles for display. It was all kinda tacky. I liked the food. I would return."
"Small family owned business that has THE BIGGEST sushi rolls. Combo A was perfect and only $18! Picture below. High quality fish compared to the new modern ones opening up in the area. Quiet place but service was great and everything was clean"
"YUM!We were apprehensive about sushi at an Asian hodge-podge (Japanese and Thai). It's not fusion. It's literally a sushi bar and Thai food in the same restaurant, and it's GOOD. Added bonus: they have gluten free soy sauce!!!Sushi is fresh and generously portioned; the tempura was light, though not the traditional batter. Pad Woon Zen with shrimp was new to us, and we DEVOURED the dish (mung bean threads stir fried with vegetables and shrimp in a sauce that reminded me a little of a lighter pad see ew).Service was friendly, prompt and thorough. The atmosphere tends toward casual. Overall, it is a great place for a casual dinner with eclectic menu choices. 4 stars because I can't give it 4 1/2. When we next visit Albuquerque, this place will be a stop!"
"Surprisingly good. Especially considering this is land locked Albuquerque. Definitely recommend for any west coasters missing the amazing sushi back home!Service is fantastic as well. Such a nice staff!Restaurant is clean and has great ambience.10/10!"

This restaurant is a great spot for some tasty Japanese cuisine! We got there and were warmly greeted and got the pick of the tables in the house. The atmosphere is warming and inviting with a bank of tbs showcasing the sushi and another by the sushi bar showing anime. The waitstaff was right on top of our order, and service was fast and friendly. Couldn't ask for better!I had been craving Japanese curry and was not disappointed! I was greeted with a HUGE plate of pork cutlet, rices and tasty curry, with a side salad. It was awesome!Hubby had the salmon bento box with had perfectly cooked salmon, a California roll with a nice tempura selection. Needless to say, yummy!I'm glad got there a little early, around 5:00, because it's a popular spot. But, we would wait for a tasty meal, a comfy table, and flawless service. If your looking for a taste of Japan, you can't go wrong here!

Based on a quick take out dinner, it was okay! Ordered a Sushi Regular takeout and it was surprisingly good. I think the sushi rice flavor was good, which makes or breaks the sushi. The fish tasted fresh.I was not sure what to expect from a sushi place in the high desert, but thumbs up! Cost ($20) was about what we pay in Hawaii for something similar...I guess they do have to ship the fresh fish a bit further than usual! A casual place with sit down dining, serve alcohol, and even has a small sushi bar!

Excellent from start to finish. Fresh fish. My spouse and I are used to Seattle sushi and while admittedly in Seattle this place might get 4 stars, for Albuquerque it has earned its 5 stars. We look forward to coming back regularly.

We had a wonderful sushi lunch! Lots of flavor and so fresh. Clean and well decorated too. Parking is always a little of a challenge on Central but well worth it.

"Cute side of the road sushi place with fun rolls. Nothing fancy, basically a food truck, but sushi seems fresh. Not so fresh, the guy sleeping in the fold up wagon caddy corner, behind the taco place, but to each their own?"
"I got sushi here and it was quite tasty! I enjoyed the spiciness of my salmon rolls. I also enjoyed the large amount of wasabi, soy sauce packets and pickled ginger included in my to go order. Thanks Hiro sushi!"
"I'm pretty sure I'll spend the better part of eternity seeking out so-called Balance, and failing miserably. There's food I consider Healthy and all the rest that doesn't fall into that category, and really nothing in the middle. Sushi is something I consider Healthy and, bonus, I happen to absolutely love a sushi session -- something I can't say about most of life's Healthy options. So during a recent visit to this food court, after deciding I absolutely must take down a mountain of pulled pork nachos, I asked the wife to help me achieve some Balance: let's get a couple rolls from Ikigai, honey honey? The feast was on and may I just note, I'm so thrilled there's a good sushi joint at the El Vado. They offer some other tasty goods, to boot, like Japanese salads, Pad Thai and phó, that's where I'm headed next. We went after standards, the California and New Mexico roll and I can report solid findings: very fresh, clean and simple, served with a mound of wasabi that I personally finished off, nostrils flaring, crocodile tears in the corners of my eyes. Totally average prices, friendly service. Hooray for another great option over here, with an extra dose of Healthy."

"It was wonderful! Delicious spicy tuna rolls and really good fried rice and kung poa chicken. They gave us a choice of 3 types of soup and informed us it was on the house. It was also really good. They had great wine and the service provided by Waej was excellent! In their hibachi area there were several kids and the cook was tying balloons of hats and swords, etc. for them. What a fun and yummy place!"
"This is a review of strictly the sushi aspect of Takumi, as I did not try the grill menu.Takumi is easily one of the top 3 sushi restaurants in Albuquerque. Prices are extremely competitive and quality is amazing for the price. My chirashi donburi was $16, and the 12-piece sashimi was $23. Fish slices are generous and delicious, no complaints from either of us. The wasabi is also crazy fresh causing me to tear up several times, when I normally tolerate it well.We also got gyoza in spicy sauce, which wasn't that great. Nothing wrong with it, I was just expecting more spice and it didn't deliver. Gyoza were fine though, not undercooked or anything like that.Their menu is pretty diverse, including sushi rolls, sashimi, teriyak dishes, bento boxes, and the hibachi menu and grill menu. Service was great, food was great, nothing wrong from my end. Will definitely be coming back for more!"
"My wife and I went here today and both got sushi. I got the Kraken roll and my wife got the Crunchyroll. We split the California roll. Overall the experience was spectacular. The service was prompt. The food was delicious. We will definitely be back."
"One of the hidden gems of ABQ Westside!Tucked into the corner of a strip mall Ichiban is a good spot for sushi, noodle & rice dishes and a variety of entrees. The service is always good and friendly and sure, sometimes there's a wait but the food is always good and pricing is fair. The restaurant went through a remodel a few years ago and added outdoor seating and updated dining area, you can even sit at the sushi bar. I was sad to see the individual bento box removed from the menu but there's still a bento box for two."
"I loved visiting this wonderful sushi restaurant. The sushi was delicious and the atmosphere was nice. Service was very good as well! Thank you crazy fish!"
"Good Sushi Find in LA, all is not lost! Heard about this from the mom of a babysitter, who said we had to try the tuna salad which is served on a bed of cucumber spaghetti-like strands.Got that, plus two orders hamachi, two orders salmon nigiri, one rainbow roll (fish on inside) and one shrimp tempura roll. They included a free clamshell of edamame. Total bill $45 before tip. Quality of fish, particularly the hamachi in the rainbow-like roll and the nigiri salmon, were very generous and very good quality.Best part- you can order take-out between 10-10:30 and it will be ready to pick up at 11. That means picnic in the park for Friday lunch with my man- yippee! The ambiance of the restaurant itself is rather cramped, this is best as a take-out place in my opinion."
"Definitely a treat to come here! Be prepared to be entertained at the grill, as the cooks put on a show!! Regarding the food, it is delicious!! I always take a box to go because of the big portions :)Please tip your cook as well as your server. This is a special treat forsure. Every time I go, there is someone celebrating a birthday. This would be a great choice for a date night :)"
"Last review, sushi. Update: ceviche. First, they don't have the same items on different delivery services, so I almost missed out which would have been a shame because it was outstanding! It's also too bad I can't add more pics!"
"This is my second time here, and it is the place to eat for Korean food. You can order galbi, bulgogi, BBQ chicken, and much more. They have all the side dishes so make sure you ask, because they probably have it.The food was great.Service was great. There is also plenty of parking out back.Make sure you stop by."
"A nice little place with humongous taste! This place is absolutely fantastic! The food is rich with flavor, I had the bento box with the jalapeño chicken and the chefs choice sushi roll. My wife had the orange chicken bento box. The presentation on the plate was phenomenal and the staff was very friendly. Great, quality Asian cuisine!"
"Sushi Xuan is one of my top 3 fav restaurants in town. I haven't had a dish here I haven't liked. I always recommend people try the Monkey balls, bento boxes, any of the chef special rolls but especially the Make My Day, Sushi Xuan, and Lollipop roll are my favorites. The hot and sour soup is also great, so is the fried rice. I also really love the Tonkatsu ramen here- one of the best ramens in town in my opinion! Another common order is the curry shrimp which is always really tasty. I have dined in and ordered takeout from here multiple times and never been let down. The food always comes out really quickly and the servers are all really great. I've been here with a large group and also been seated quickly. The restaurant is always very clean and welcoming. My family will continue to come back often!"
"Always love going here! Sushi was excellent and the hibachi grills always great. We don't go for the show, just go to eat. Service always awesome and wasn't busy on a weekday lunch. Nice place to eat, so give them a shot!"
"Excellent service. Nice ambiance. There is sushi on one side and Tepan on the other. I came in for a lunch takeout because I am in a training nearby. The Teppan side is decidedly more popular. It is bigger as well there is a full bar and menu of special creations that are served only here. The greeter made me feel so welcome and the bartender was a delight at ringing me up. I would definitely come here again"
"I tend not to be in favor of a lot of national franchises, and quite frankly a store by the name of "sushi freak" would even not get a second nod from me. But my oldest daughter who is a vegetarian, suggested we go there and try their food. I was impressed with the portion size and value. Yes it is not fast food because it took a little while for them to get it all prepared but very flavorful and a good experience.I had the crab roll and chicken teriyaki dinner. I would order both of those again, but probably not in the same meal since the portions are so large."
"Quick headline to round it up. Good sushi at great prices. How could I've gone so long without noticing this hidden gem? I recently stumbled across some instagram friends dining here in which they mentioned all their rolls are half off. I'm not sure if this is just a temporary promotion or if it is their business model. I've treated it as if it is a promotion and have frequented repeatedly in the last month. With the half off, rolls start out as low as $4. All the premium rolls are also discounted. On one occasion, our party did 7 rolls for around 35 bucks. You can't beat that. Now as far as quality of the rolls. I will say they around mid. Flavor is up there along with the size. These things are huge! The restaurant itself is pretty cool. Size is a bit small so if you're in around meal rush you may have to wait a bit. They have a lot of cool banners hanging down from the ceilings and bottles of sake lining the perimeter. The only downside is the language barrier of the staff. I don't believe any speak English. If you have ever dined at any restaurant before you should be good. The don't talk much but do a lot of pointing and gesturing to let you know what they are asking for. They will bring you a sushi menu to check off what you want which the waitstaff will pickup up and take once you are done filling it out. They will then bring some waters in paper cups. The food is quick to come out. At the end they will come by and drop off your menu with the price you need to pay All in all, pretty cool hidden gem with really good sushi. I almost hesitated to post this because I don't want to let the secret out, but it'd be unfair for others to try it out."
"Back at it again on a Saturday for lunch. It wasn't very busy at around 12:30pm. It picked up later. We sat a booth, which is more comfortable. Food was good. Not the best we've had. There were some inconsistencies. The miso soup wasn't hot, and lukewarm. Flavor is good. The seaweed salad is always good, but the 1 order looked like 2 portions. I felt bad not finishing it. I always order nigiri, and the portions of the rice was perfect and slightly warm, but very compact. It wasn't melt in your mouth like I've had at other times. I do wish that they'd bake the eel to serve it warm, or have the option to sear fish with a torch for that smoky flavor. I also ordered the Caterpillar Roll, which had the same problem, paste like rice. So, the texture was slightly dense and chewy. The salmon and tuna nigiri slices of fish were thinner than usual. The Tuna Tataki, Peppered Salmon, and Yellow tail Jalapeño pieces were really small, compared to the usual. For the hibachi, the first 2 orders of steak and shrimp, the meat was slightly overcooked to medium to medium-well, so they were a little tougher. But the veggies are always on point. The positives of the sushi was that it all tasted fresh and not fishy at all. The flavors are good as well. The 3rd and last hibachi steak order was cooked perfectly at medium-rare. The Baked Mussels and fried appetizers came piping hot, which were our favorite. Then, finished off with matcha ice cream with a drop of whipped cream. Our service was ok, but not the best. Our server seemed timid and checked on us a few times, but pretty much abandoned us when we were finishing up our food. We waited awhile before being asked for our check. We will still be back bc it's a great deal for what you get. We left very full."
"This was our first venture inside Kai. It was chill and cozy. Previously, we had just used takeout or delivery. So glad we popped in.We promised ourselves we'd try new rolls. We ordered two shrimp tempura ones, just in case the other three didn't work out. ; )I'm so happy I was adventurous, because I now have a new go-to order. The Taos roll is BAKED! I had no idea I'd enjoy hot sushi so much. Also could have been because it was snowing and the warm food felt really good. I also had the Calamari roll. Both were delicious. My daughter raved about the Tootsie roll she ordered. Just the perfect amount of heat. Her shrimp tempura rolls were also enjoyable. Overall we thought the ingredients were fresh, prepared well, and met our sushi expectations. I have previously ordered their teriyaki salmon bento box and enjoyed it immensely. For visitors to Santa Fe, Kai is conveniently located just off St. Francis and St. Michael's streets in a shopping center with ample parking. It's worth a 5-minute drive out of the downtown Plaza area.Staff greeted us when we came in and were helpful with menu questions. You can watch your sushi being prepared if you choose to sit at the counter."
"We picked up lunch takeout today and were very happy with Izmi. I had the sushi platter and thought the spicy salmon roll and nigiri were all fresh and very good. My wife had the torched salmon and Alaska rolls and really liked both. We were anxious to try a sushi place in Santa Fe as we used to live in NYC and are used to high quality sushi - but Izmi met our expectations and we will definitely be returning! Best sushi we have had in NM."
"I was super excited to try this sushi spot from all I've heard on Yelp and the hype on Abq foodies fb pages. I was waiting in my car because it said they open at 5, and the open sign wasn't on, but people were walking in and after a while I went in to discover they were actually open. So note to y'all if you show up early, try to open the door :) I walked in and came to eat by myself, they sort of suggested I sit at the sushi bar, which is okay, i understand that they would want to reserve the tables for more people. It did dim the experience down though, because in beach side cities I usually have sushi at I'm used to the sushi bar being a fun place to be, you get to interact with the sushi chef's and order with them and they greet you in Japanese. It was definitely more of a colder vibe at the bar, almost felt like I was intruding on kitchen work . First thing I got was the miso soup, I've had plenty of miso soup, this one was more of a miso broth because it was lacking the ingredients. It had 3 slivers of green onion and one piece of tofu. I mean it's free but , wish it just had a little more to it.The appearance and presentation of the food was really good. Even had a nice smell for the most part. The New Mexico roll looked beautiful, it even had a crunch to it, but it wasn't spicy nor did the flavor of the sauce really stand out. I mean it's sushi in the dessert so my entire star rating is going to be based on the idea of lowering the bar from what I'm used to in beach cities. So I'll say it was decent, it was like a half step better than whole foods market sushi. The baked lobster roll didn't quite look in person as the pictures I saw on Yelp, however the flavor was much better on this, you can taste the sauce, the roll underneath it fell apart easily and could have used a little more size. But I'll say this one was actually slightly better in taste , texture was gone but flavor was better. The Abq roll would have been really good but you could actually taste the flavor of butane with each bite. The bulgogi wasn't the usual thin fatty meat slices in used to when I have bulgogi, it was thicker, tougher and had little muscle tendon pieces I kept having to pick out. The flavor was sweet but not much else. It was not too bad, definitely eatable! The "spicy chicken" not spicy at all, texture of the meat was good, generous portion of meat. The service was really friendly and they also brought me a Korean dessert tea for no charge at the end and it was really good. The servers were mostly the owners and their children, there was one server that wasn't a part of the family. All of them were really nice and friendly, I truly did enjoy the service and I wish their establishment well. I hate leaving negative reviews and I always try to be as positive as possible, but it was hard to rate this place. I would call it like a 3.5 star establishment in my opinion based on what I experienced and I rounded it to 3. If you're from a beach city area remove a half star to make it more accurate to what you're used"
