K-Ram Roofing & Construction

K-Ram Roofing & Construction

Cheryl J. "This review is split because I have had good and bad experiences in dealing with K-Ram. I had two leaks in my roof and had Gilbert come to my house on August 18, 2017. I didn't get my estimate until August 30, 2017, but it was a very thorough one. He did an "Eagle View Roof Report" without telling me, which added $85 to the cost estimate which totaled $1850 to fix the two leaks OR almost $22,000 to re-roof the whole house. I chose the less expensive fix on the recommendation of the insurance rep. Gilbert told me they would credit me the $1850 if I ended up doing the whole roof (within a reasonable amount of time of course). It was almost 2 weeks after getting the proposal that I emailed Gilbert to see when they were coming as I received no communication. They were super busy due to the ABQ downpours and finally got to me on September 14th. They repaired the two spots, but ended up fixing the WRONG place so the leak continued to destroy the ceiling in my home office. I called back and told Gilbert where I thought the leak originated and even mentioned how his guy (Rick) told me the spot they fixed didn't seem damaged at all (my first clue it wasn't going to be fixed). Rick was a gem to work with though! He came back out when he could...about 2 weeks later and fixed the spot where I thought the problem was (which was right...Rick took pics and showed me the damage). Gilbert sent me the following message after I was insistent they get back out here and fix the problem: "Sorry about the leak...this is why I was so insistent on you having the complete roof done...that roof's underlayment is failing and will continue to do so from now on...Did Rick show you the photos of your roof's condition...in that he had to replace rotted out decking as well, which should have been an add on to what I quoted you..."I told him that Rick showed me the leak in my kitchen that rotted, but the one over my office (which was still leaking because they fixed the wrong spot), was not rotted at all. Despite getting annoyed, I bit the bullet and asked them to fix my whole roof. It took over another month for them to fit me on the schedule (October 23, 2017), but I understood because it was a big job. It took probably 7-8 working days for them to complete the job. Daniel was supervisor for my job and HE WAS A JOY to work with! Such a happy man...explained everything to me and answered any questions (I would have given K-Ram 5 stars just because of Daniel and Rick had I not had other issues!). The crew seemed to do an excellent job! I have no complaints...but it hasn't rained since completion so I will just HOPE I have no more leaking. So we get the bill...and Gilbert had decided to only credit us $900 of the $1850 due to the fact that the repairs were more extensive than he had estimated. I reasoned that it shouldn't have mattered because they didn't have to fix those areas again and should have been covered under the TOTAL ROOF estimate. My husband wrote K-Ram a letter with the check and asked him to honor his agreement/estimate (minus the $1850 we already paid). Going back on the price agreement and the delays are what brought the rating down. The men on the crew deserve 5 stars as they were efficient, cleaned up every day, and worked hard."

Queston Roofing & Construction

Queston Roofing & Construction

Richard B. "Queston was really good about writing up a thorough estimate and providing us with some critical information when comparing roofing products and installation methods. Louis patiently clarified why we'd be getting this particular service for that given product as well as what differentiated the various installation techniques. I got the impression that Queston does a ton of commercial work and so has plenty of experience working on a wide variety of roof types; residential roofing is clearly not a problem for these guys. You can see their completed project list on their website....something I ALWAYS look for when researching contractors for a job this big."

Matt B. "The estimator was courteous and knowledgeable. Seems like a good company till you get their price quote. $1000 more than their nearest competitor using the same materials and methods ie shingles on a 33' long tuff shed roof for $4000. Their price for shingles is $100 more than the highest quote for propanel. I do not accept quotes that is a way to weasel money out of people. A bid is the only way to go. This overinflated given to us has already been discounted for being a cash transaction. No insurance to overcharge for. This place has obviously began to trade on their own name at the premium of $1000 per job. I was also in construction at the industrial level as a journeyman electrician and know when a company begins to get this proud of themselves it's time to run the other way. $200 either way is understandable but $1000 on a job they quoted at $4000 is out of hand. That's a 25% overcharge from the nearest qualified competitor. All the bids have been from licensed and insured roofers so the playing field is the same. Watch out for established companies that loose respect for the customer to the point of a 25% overcharge for the same goods and services as their competitors. Even their answer is overinflated and justifying their 25% gouge in price on a job this small is appalling. The other thing that contractors also do is say no with their price which is a juvenile move for a company claiming to be such an established old stalwart. The estimator warned me that the owner does not like anything pitched too steep. As for my backyard where the shed is the roofer with work ethic, pride, and guts was able to back their truck rite up to the shed. Like I said too big to take jobs. Cherry picking. Don't bother rite way if you have a tuff shed to put a roof on. If they can't handle that I would not want them near my house."

Steve Q. "A New Millennium Spray Foam Roofing sprayed my brand new car with roofing spray in the late summer of 2017. I called them to discuss and was told by R. of the company that the spray was part 1 of the coating and would fall off by itself shortly. I waited a year with no improvement and called R. again. R. said that my car must have been sprayed with part 1 and part 2 of the coating and that part two is very difficult to remove and will fall off like part 1 is supposed to do, rather, it is there to stay. I got a couple of estimates for a repair attempt that were $860 and $863, respectively. I asked R. for payment. He said he would drive to look at my car. He did not come to look at my car or did not contact me back if he did, so after a few weeks of silence, I asked again for payment so I can take care of my car at a reputable shop. I understood R. to say his (roofing) crew knows how to remove the chemicals. He did not tell me this in 2017 when the chemical was fresh. I told him that his misstatements to me, bad advice, failure to inspect my car, and no follow-up prevented me from entrusting my new car to his custody and chemical removal. R. said it was a take it or leave it offer.I researched overspray online and found the industry's best practices to prevent overspray including (1) warning signs around the spray area, (2) barricading the area while spray is active, (3) car covers for cars that cannot be moved, (4) notice to residents of the building being sprayed, (5) avoiding high winds, and (6) use of spray screens around the spray gun. https://westroofingsystems.com/spray-polyurethane-foam-overspray-prevention-and-cleanup/. A New Millennium Spray Foam Roofing did not use any of the best practices that I could see. I believe other vehicles at the complex were also sprayed and the company did not give notice of how to deal with the spray or identify itself to the residents. My complex has many buildings over a wide area and a very long hose, so I did not know they were working on my building nor did I know the hazard of the spray. A New Millennium ignored the needed best practices likely to increase their profit at mine and other peoples' expense. My view is the company caused a mass damage event and is not taking care of the expense.I called, mailed, and texted with the R. about this matter and told him what I wrote here. I did not want to write a negative review online but R.'s insistence that I let his roofers remove these chemicals from my new car paint is a bridge too far. I have been trying to work with R. for about 16 months so I want you to know that I tried to be reasonable."

Marge H. "If it were possible to give a negative review I would! I had my roof done two years ago, and had nothing but trouble ever since. As another reviewer said, 'what hood is a warranty if it's not honored.' When I call the mailbox is full so, I call again and by some miracle got Valentin on the line only to be told he didn't remember me, but he'd call back--he never did, and rather than going through the hassle again hired someone reputable."
