Pricey, yes but worth every centavo. Our sever Gabriel was on point. I had the shrimp enchiladas and dare I say, one of the best things I've ever eaten. Portions were perfect. My fiancé had the tenderloin and it was melt in your mouth . Make a reservation and head over! It's worth it"

Bruce K. "El Modelo was my second "must eat" recommendation from local friends. I stopped in for a late breakfast and after a moment with the menu, chose the Huevos Rancheros. The ordering system and the wait for your order is a little chaotic. Just be patient and if you're unsure, ask. Everyone's friendly here!My food only took about ten minutes until my number was called. There is no dining room here. A picnic table outside might be used by some, but I brought my meal into the van and dug in.Eggs over medium, spicy beans, delicious tortilla and all of it was a great flavor. A little bit messy but absolutely tasty. And this is about as local as you can possibly get. El Modelo is coming up to 100 years and it's awesome. ¡Salud to another 100 years![Review 21089 overall - 136 in New Mexico - 52 of 2024.]"

Donna S. "The guac is the STAR OF THE SHOW. They make it tableside & accommodate substitutions & omissions to the recipe, as you wish. There is USUALLY a long line to get in, so plan accordingly... RESERVATIONS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Their margaritas are also cold & delicious, especially on the eve of a warm day. A GREAT way to CHILL OUT.And the HUGE patio is DOG FRIENDLY AND some of the tables have an AMAZING view of the surrounding hills! As for the food, I am less enthusiastic, though a friend who has spent a lot of time in Mexico says everything is very authentic & she loves it. I suppose I am tired of Mexican food that has rice & beans with everything... I like to be surprised with new flavor combinations.I had the chicken Mole enchiladas & they were good, but, especially for the long drive from downtown, I have other options in town I like better. Worth a try to decide for yourself & be sure to be there near sunset for pics from the patio with the hills ad background!"

The food was better than average Mexican/Southwest food. I had a really hard time understanding the workers there and had a difficult time ordering, I think it was a combination of all the noise in the area and my inability to understand the accents (usually I'm pretty good but this was off my scale), maybe the ordering process could be simplified."

They direct you to a table when you arrive, give you menus and then when you are ready to order, you go wait in line to place your order and pay. Food runners bring your plates out and call your name out to find you. We ordered some chips and salsa $5 (we liked the variety of sauces), the beet salad (fantastic cold salad for a hot summer day) and skinny margaritas ($11 each) - we did not care for the taste of these)It was the 4th of July so the place was hopping!"

I ordered the vegan Taquitos dorados -these are wonderful. Both the red and green sauces were solid here, and it was a great pick me up. Horchata-their horchata was wonderful. Very present with the cinnamon without being too much. Mole chicken (I was unable to get the name) -love the cinnamon with this sauce. Normally I am not a cinnamon person it this was well balanced, and not too sweet. Definitely the most unique thing that we had here. Their seating was comfortable and their decor was vibrant and lovely. We would love to come back for a full meal and some margaritas next time."

What a treat! $10 lunch specials (I got the #2 with chile relleno, my benchmark Mexican dish!) Also got the pork tamale with red chile sauce. Interestingly here in New Mexico, neither the green nor red sauce is very spicy (good for most of us.) If you have ever been to Cocina Azul in Albuquerque, the chile relleno here is very comparable in taste and texture, which is to say The Best! Elegant, relaxing ambience off of the touristy beaten path inside the Burro Alley."

I didn't get photos of the salsas but they were delicious and complimented the dishes perfectly. We will be going back every time we are in Albuquerque from now on. My wife just asked me what I wanted to do for Father's Day and I said I would love to go to Sharky's, it's only 10.5 hours away... Seriously, this is my new happy place. This casual and festive place had a unique menu with classics, self-serve refills, delicious food, and friendly service. My chicken burrito was full of wet, tender, shredded chicken (contradicting fellow elite Shannon W's June review). It wasn't huge, yet I saved half of it for breakfast, maybe because we had the chips and trio to start (the queso was fine, the fresh guacamole needed a squirt of lemon and some salt). The wife thought the taco salad was a little sad- it may have been more hearty with a refried beans option."

The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely, the service completely exceeded our expectations, and the food was amazing. I would highly recommend making a reservation at Estevan if you are planning a trip to the area - or if you already live here! Our server was Sean, and he took the time to learn our names and used them throughout the evening. When asking him about different bottles of wines, he offered to let us taste several before making a decision, even offering his own suggestions we had not considered. Toward the end of our meal, Chef Estevan came out and asked how everything was, which was nice. I noticed him chatting with lots of other guests as well.We opted for the specials for almost all of our food selections, so they may not be available when you dine here, but we had:*Arugula salad*Red cabbage salad (on regular menu)*Boar*Arctic char*Tres leches (on regular menu)We really enjoyed all of the food. I can't imagine getting bigger sizes as the wimpy was plenty of food by itself. Though you can't really see it in the picture, it was a large burrito filled with beans and ground beef. The green chile burger was tasty but wasn't anything special. It was very busy which says that this place is awesome! The service was okay--the amount of people did make our server sort of behind. I walked in having zero idea of what to expect, and walked out full and happy!First of all, Aurora was a superstar server. She was pleasant, efficient, and just all-around lovely. Thank you for the great service. We started with the special: hibiscus margaritas (and a hibiscus sprite for the one guest not imbibing). They were pretty, and tasty, although a little sweeter than I personally love. Definitely get it since it's a limited menu item, but if I had a second cocktail, it would have been a regular margarita.Chips were fresh and the salsa was very blended and flavorful. The menu was huge with tons of options, and I ordered a sopapilla stuffed with beans and ground beef. Sopas aren't very popular where I live in Florida so I wanted something different. The food came out fast, and hot, and very plate looked fantastic. The rice and beans served with my dish were delicious, and the sopapilla was a nice change from regular tortillas. We also got a complimentary order of sopapillas and honey for the table - I didn't try them because I was stuffed from my meal, but everyone loved them.Great prices and amazing amount of food for the money."

Immediately in front of the restaurant is a 15min loading great for takeout but just down the street is free street parking. Their menu prices are unfortunately difficult to see, but wow their breakfast burrito is only $3.75! Even fast food chains can't go that low. The staff is very kind, the woman who greeted me was very nice, and in the very short time I waited for my burrito knew multiple customers by first name, I was impressed.Went with the bacon green chile breakfast burrito, one of the best breakfast burritos I've had, and I've had MANY breakfast burritos. Nice amount of heat, not too much potatoes (ratio is key), and they use real eggs - you can tell while eating it. None of that liquid egg crap. My wife's taco platter was equally impressive, showcasing a selection of authentic Mexican flavors that delighted her palate. Salsa still bland as is the food. Chips were stale as were the corn tortillas. Very disappointed because I used to look forward to eating at Sundance when came to Red River. Service is still very good. Waitress was attentive and very nice. Was disturbed by a person that I know has been at Sundance many years reach bare handed into the bulk chip container where they get customers chips and grab 4 chips and dipped them in the salsa pot where they get the customers salsa and eat them one at a time. Kinda gross and don't think is supposed to happen. Don't plan on going back next or any trip to Red River."
