Sandra M. "The hot chocolate is amazing and they want to make sure you get the chocolate you actually like so expect to spend a few minutes trying a few of their options. I appreciate their attention to quality over quantity. I loved how they separated out traditional chocolate from new/European style versions. Their homemade whip cream was crazy good!I bought a lot of chocolates to go (to take back home). The pistachio chocolate bar was so gooooood!"

Ruby G. "This place has some of the best chocolate I've ever had in my life. (and I'm picky about chocolate!) It's extra smooth and super creamy. The staff is always friendly and I like that they are open fairly late. It's a little pricy but because it's so good I think it's worth it. Try the chocolate covered marshmallows, chocolate covered caramel crispy bars, chocolate covered cheesecake, or chocolate covered key lime pie. Oh and the ice cream is amazing too!"

Andrea Y. "Fantastic chocolate AND amazing customer service? Nirvana! I needed a Halloween sweet for my recently relocated family member to ABQ. No ordinary chocolate would suffice. Yelp steered me to Eldora. I reached out via email late one evening and received a prompt and courteous response from Steve. I placed my order that night & family member was surprised & thrilled with surprise. I get calls describing the great flavors. I'm thinking it's a not so subtle hint of what to get next time! Looking forward to checking out Eldora next time I'm in ABQ & they have my gift giving business for life!"

Cyn P. "Small shop but plenty of options. Four stars here cause one of the items I wanted was not in stock. I stopped in to purchase chocolates for a family member who was having a birthday. He loves dark chocolate. If it is on display then it's in stock. If it is not on display you can ask and they will check in back. Prices are fair. Quality is very good. The young man manning the counter was very good at his job. Overall good experience."

Howie K. "Whatever you're doing right now (surfing the internet for cat videos, ignoring your boss, posting status updates), stop. Seriously, drop it, and jot down this note: Elixir Chocolates. You'll thank me after you read this review. Want an exceptionally savvy, cheap date, or crazy fun group outing? Call Tim and Larry at Elixir. Unbeknownst to me, these two great guys had been quietly crafting unf@ckingbelievable cocoa-riffic treats in this city for the better part of 20 years. Yes, 20. And they host these incredible hands-on events at their chocolate factory, near I-25 and Osuna. The events are free, but you'll need to gather a group of 6-10 people. You'll sample virtually any sweet treat you wish, you'll dip your own caramels in chocolate, you'll sample their infamous Timmy Krack Korn (no, this has nothing to do with the band) before, during and after it's baked. The entire evening lasts about 90 minutes. Trust me on this: your teeth will never rot so good. They don't have a storefront, per se, but they sell wholesale at the factory. They also sell their truffles, turtles, and other goodies at Keller's Meats and the Cinnamon Sugar & Spice Cafe. But go to the factory, bring some friends. You won't forget it. Twenty years into this thing, Elixir Chocolates remains a relatively undiscovered, and delightful sweet find in the 505.(But don't take my word for it. Ask the guys who moved in next door, at the medical marijuana dispensary. Just sayin'.)"

Theobroma Chocolatier

Howie K. "I'm dropping one star from my original review due to an overall upping of the chocolate game in Albuquerque, and some less than stellar interactions with employees. This remains a very good chocolatier, with all of the hallmarks that make me want to support them: it's a small shop, the truffles are appealing to look at and satisfy your cocoa craving, anticipate good gift buying, if that's what you're looking for. About a year back, another competitor opened their doors in the north valley, a bean to bar operation that's producing world class product, and I'd love to see their presence elevate the overall chocolate game, city-wide. Until then, I'll consider Theobroma a good option during the holidays, they're very, very festive. And when I'm in the neighborhood, hey, there's always a reason to support local dark (70%+) chocolate. Hey, it's good for you!"
