At first glance, Blue Jay May not seem like the outstanding ship it is. Don't let appearances fool you. I went into Blue Jay expecting the same deal as most tattoo shops: dingy, dimly lit, funny smelling, etc. I was happily surprised to find that Blue Jay is actually one of the nicest tattoo shops I've been in. I had Frankie, who gave me a treble clef tattoo on my right forearm. He moved quickly, efficiently, and very gently. I'm not from the area otherwise I'd be coming back every week! I cannot recommend this shop enough. PS: Sam is also an incredible artist who did one of my friends tattoos. She's killer for fine lines and details!

Customer service is absolutely unacceptable. I've had two family members try to get work done here and all they got in return was lost $40 deposits. Yes, that's correct. Deposits for "art work" that they never received. Apparently Blue Jay tattoo works "on the fly", pun intended. Anybody willing to show up and "wing" a tattoo isn't expecting quality work. Large pieces of art require significant thought on both the side of the customer and the artist.

Czer inked my whole family while we were home for Christmas. We've been wanting the same design on us for years and now we have it, and they are perfect! Czer is a true perfectionist you won't believe the talent at his shop, so what are you waiting for?

It is a very clean and professional environment. The staff knows exactly what to do and how to treat their clientele. Frank is incredibly talented when it comes to the world of Art and tattooing. It is very difficult to find a tattoo artist that you can trust to put something permanent on your skin. Frank is definitely a trustworthy tattoo artist with years of experience under his belt. I highly recommend.

This review is based on the artist Samm, not the shop itself. I came to Samm on a recommendation from my sister. When I contacted her she was kind, informative, and communicated promptly. She was really awesome during the tattoo as well. I wasn't sure of the thickness I wanted the tattoo and she told me to go home and let it heal and if I decided I wanted it thicker, that she would touch it up. I've tried messaging her three different times requesting a touch up. She has read my messages and left them ignored. Apparently she doesn't stand by her work, just cares about getting the money from you.

Most unprofessional place I have ever been. When I scheduled my tattoo i had to pay a $40 deposit. I was told it was to make sure i was serious and showed up (understandable). I had a tattoo scheduled on a Thursday afternoon, when I showed up "I was told the artistist was needed on the set of a movie and he wasn't there". I was never called or messaged to say that the tattoo would need to be rescheduled, however I gave it another chance and rescheduled for the next day. When I arrived the next day the shop was closed and no one was around. I tried calling several times and messaging the artist with no response. I waited 45 minutes before leaving. I went back the next day to get me deposit back as I had already scheduled my tattoo with another more reliable artist. I was told that the deposit was nonrefundable, which would have been understandable had I not been the one to show up. But seeing as how the artist flaked twice with no word, I think I should have been given my money back. On top of all this the chubby girl up front was extremely rude and they didn't even seem to care that they did this!

Sam is awesome! Crazy high-level artistic vision and a BADASS at her craft. Best artist in the 121,697 sq. miles of New Mexico. Easy. ~n' even better people~

Bianca worked on my tattoo, and I absolutely love it! It's my favorite of all the ones I have. The shop is clean and welcoming. From the moment I walked in Bianca made me feel welcome, at ease and answered all my questions. She showed me all the artists' portfolios and I chose Bianca's. She made time for me the same day. Since Bianca is an apprentice, Czer was also there during the process and I was impressed that he provided relevant feedback and suggestions throughout. I absolutely would recommend Blue Jay Tattoo!

Do not give Blue Jay Tattoo your business. I scheduled a simple tattoo appt about 1.5 weeks out with the promise to hear from the tattoo shop when my first draft of the tattoo was ready for review and changes. Less than 24 hours until my appointment, I had neither heard nor seen absolutely anything from the tattoo shop. I decided to pay a visit to see where we stand and was, unfortunately, not surprised to hear nothing had been done yet. I was then informed of "how things work" - "The tattoo artist will draw something up tomorrow before your appointment and if you need changes, he'll just do them on the fly". Obviously, not what I was initially told, nor is this an acceptable practice. Finally, I decided to ask for my 40 dollar cash deposit back and was met with a "standard no-refund response". Blue Jay Tattoo has a deposit contract they make you sign so they can do exactly this.... Let's hope the BBB finds this practice as unacceptable as I do. To be determined. Don't give your money away here!
