This place is awesome! I was in town for a few weeks so I gave this place a try. The coaches and workouts were amazing. Even though no one knew me, I didn't feel out of place whatsoever. Thanks to the coaches and staff for a great place to workout. I would definitely come back

This place was great. I dropped in while I attended a conference and I enjoyed this place a lot! The staff was very friendly and people in the gym would introduce themselves to me. I even had a dude cheer me on to finish I workout and he never even met me.The facility is top notch, barbells and plates are really nice. The rig is huge and even in a class of 20+ you couldn't even tell. Costs 25 bucks and it includes a shirt. Well worth the money. You will enjoy this place!!

First of all, I have only been doing crossfit for a month and this is the box where it introduced me to the wonders of crossfit. So this review is very biased since I have never tried crossfit anywhere else. But I LOVE IT! The owner and the coaches are super nice and super encouraging. The gym itself is a huge open space with equipment that you can use during open gym sessions. On top of that they have classes and the coaches are very good at correcting postures to make sure you aren't injured while doing strength training. This is not a place where you will run into young meatheads and all they want to do is workout and checkout girls like the ordinary gyms. This is a place where they encourage everyone to come and workout and participate in crossfit. The coaches are incredibly friendly and the atmosphere in the whole crossfit gym is very welcoming. After a month of working out here, I can say I truly enjoy coming here.

Update: I'm dropping my previous 5 star rating to 3 based on my most recent visit. My husband and I emailed in advance that we would be visiting Albuquerque and hoped to workout for the week. Big Barn was responsive and helpful and our drop in class was great. The problem was that it was confusing how to drop in for a longer period of time and we didn't feel that we were welcome back. A big change from how welcome I felt the first time I visited! Original Review: I do crossfit-like workouts at home and when I was headed to Albuquerque for some holiday family time, I searched for a place to workout. I looked at several websites and Facebook pages and decided that Big Barn seemed the most like the gym I normally attend as far as style of workouts as well as sense of humor. Let's be honest, there was a pic of someone working out in TMNT pants identical to my husband's. I was sold. I emailed and got an immediate, welcoming email from Bernadette inviting me to drop in when I was in town. And I'm so glad I did!During my time in Albuquerque, I worked out with Bernadette, Matthew, and Pat and all were excellent coaches. Encouraging, motivating, helpful and worked with me on improving my technique. Not only did I get great workouts, I definitely improved my skills. Workouts always have two component: a strength and a metcon. I like the focus on proper form in the strength which was really helpful for improving. My only real complaint is the classes didn't always start on time which was not a problem because I was on vacation. NM is a little more laid back in general so that probably was a part of it. Overall, an absolutely wonderful place to workout!!

Was in town from Denver and dropped in. The facility is huge and has a separate Oly lifting area. Pretty cool to me since I enjoy that part of CF the most. The instructor was really great, attentive, instructive but at the same un-obstructive to the work out. Oh, your drop in rate is the cost of T-shirt. So not only was I able to get a good WOD in a foreign town I have a cool shirt too. Win-win in my book. Check em out you won't be disappointed.

The gym is spacious; immense some may say. Ive been a member here for years and there is reason for it. A few good reasons. Great coaches, community, access to equipment, flexibility to name a few.

Stopped by for open gym drop in. Not a cross fitter but this place is paradise even if you're a bodybuilder or oly weightlifter. Speaking of the latter there's a dedicated room for weightlifters with platforms and tons of bumper plates. I've visited probably 30 different gyms in my life and this is in the top 3. The employees are super nice as well and one of them patiently gave me a tour. $20 for a day drop in which is pretty much what all boxes charge. You can also drop in and do your own thing during classes as long as you're respectful of the class' space.

I do CrossFit 5-6 days a week at home so when I found out I was traveling to Albuquerque for work, I spent hours on the computer searching for the best local CrossFit gym and chose my hotel close to it so I could get my CrossFit in. After checking out Big Barn CrossFit's website and Facebook page, I decided that I'd give it a try. I emailed two weeks before my visit and got an immediate response from Laura welcoming me to drop in when I'm in town. I don't travel much for work, so I haven't visited too many CrossFit boxes outside of the DC area, so when i was heading to Big Barn yesterday, I had butterflies in my stomach. What if the people weren't cool? What if the workout was something I was really bad at? What if I just don't like it? All my worries went out of the window as soon as I walked in the door. The gym was huge compared to my home box in DC, the workout people were doing looked completely manageable to me, and the one thing that put me to ease the most was how friendly the people were. Britney, Amber and Sarah were standing around when I walked in, and even though they didn't work there, they came up to me and introduced themselves and grabbed the coach for me so I could fill out a waiver and get settled. Neal told me a little bit about how things worked there and got me started on my warm-up. Class was lead by Cameron, who introduced myself to everyone once class got going and I received a very warm welcome. Throughout the workout, Cameron made sure to cheer me on and check on my form as I "suffered" with the rest of the Big Barn members. I also met Adam, another coach, after my workout. He was also super cool and told me a little bit about the gym's history. Big Barn is an awesome box and I would recommend it to anyone who's visiting Albuquerque. I guess they don't have any reviews on Yelp yet because they're new compared to some of the other CF boxes in town, but they are coming up to their one year anniversary and with the way they're doing things, I know they're going to be around for many many years to come.
