Attempted to call at 10:05 a.m., after knowing that hours were to begin at 10:00. My call was rejected by Verizon as the number not being available--usually meaning that it had been disconnected. It seems that this business has closed its doors.

I really wanted this to work. The other 2 reviews were so stellar that I didn't even research any other places before I went in. I brought a bunch of kitchen knives in for sharpening. Five dollars a piece. Got them back right away, nice and sharp. That was great. I also brought in an antique Singer Sewing machine that needed a new cord and a tune up. That was going to be $80 and $5 for the new cord. I didn't ask what the tune up entailed but did think $80 was a little pricey. On the other hand I realize this is not Walmart. There are expenses and overhead for a small business. And many of us want to support these independent shops, right? I was told it would take a week to be done. A week came and I didn't hear so I called. It sounded like the owner forgot all about me and my sewing machine. I thought it was odd because no other customers were there when I was in and it didn't look like he had many items lined up to be fixed, but you never know. So, I was told that he would look at it the next day and if it didn't need any parts it would be done by the end of the day. End of the next business day I came in and he hadn't even started. Again, no one else was in the shop and I didn't see a back log of repairs. I really felt like I was more of a nuisance than a customer so I took my Singer and went home. That makes me sad because when I walked in I thought it was a wonderful place. I wanted it to be a wonderful place and I wanted to be a happy wonderful customer. Oh well.

When my Dyson vacuum started acting up, I looked to Yelp for a repair shop. The first one that popped up had horrible reviews so I steered clear of them. At Home Services had NO reviews so I was hesitant, but really needed my vacuum. I felt better knowing they are an authorized Dyson service center. This place is AWESOME! It's a one-man shop that looks like it's been around for a long time. When I first walked in, there was another customer getting her sewing machine repaired. She said she'd driven from Alamogordo because there's no one as good as At Home Services in her area. That made me feel even better about my choice. The gentleman who helped me (I can only assume he's the owner because I never saw anyone else there) was quiet but as nice as could be. He charged me $39.95 to service my vacuum, which I thought was really reasonable. He also had it back to me in 3 days. I will keep this place in mind next time I need a small appliance repaired, for sure.
