At Home in Taos is a crafts, gifts and home decor shop just off the plaza in Taos, NM. Lots of different stuff, including a huge selection of Christmas items! Something for everyone... candles, bowls, artificial plants, soaps, socks, towels, etc. really more of a knick-knack store, average quality merchandise. Nothing there was really of interest to us.

Very rude to my family and I about smelling with our mask. Would have not been a big deal if she had explained it instead of yelled it at us.

This shop definitely stood out from the other souvenir shops in the Plaza! Lots of unique items made by local artists. Cute knick knacks. Quirky greeting cards.Definitely recommended if you are looking for unique souvenirs.

Many of the shops here in the tourist area near the Plaza are full of crap. And yes, At Home in Taos has a little bit of that. But what they also have are lots of other interesting and apparently unique items made by local artists. Wind chimes and pots and candles and tableware and bowls and so much more that it's hard to list them all. It's a neat place to pick up whatever you might neat to personalize your home. Well worth the stop.

Tonya T.'s original review of At Home in Taos (AHIT) from 2011 remains accurate. This shop is still a relief from the typical dusty souvenir shops nearby selling overpriced but cheaply made stuff from wherever in the world the stuff has been imported this year. Upon entry to AHIT, you notice the lovely aroma of baking cookies or something else equally welcoming. AHIT carries high end seasonal scented candles, holiday decorations, ladies' accessories and other things your mom or sister-in-law will appreciate. Signs warn against photography, so I can't show you with pictures, but the place is adorable, each room filled with lots of handmade objects to display in the home or give as gifts to the "shabby chic" lovers in your life. You may even find some good deals on the sale tables, like the 50% off fake fur leg warmers I almost took home (until I remembered that it never gets cold enough to wear them where I'm from; sorry, hubby, that cave woman cosplay will have to wait another year...).

Shannon B and Tonya T are right. At Home in Taos provides a welcome break from the touristy kitsch of the plaza. The store itself is bright, welcoming and saturated with color! Was checked out by the owner (I believe) who makes much of the pottery and the delightful textiles in the shop. She was very pleasant and takes great pride in collecting unique items to sell at the store, including Finchberry soap that I am newly obsessed with (Yes, at $9 a slice it seems a little steep until you try it. The fragrance and the lather are ah-mazing!)! She explained that she likes to know where the goods in her store come from and sources many of them directly.I ended up with some soaps for myself and others, and a birthday gift for Shana H. that I know she will love! If my husband hadn't been with me, I could have spent quite a bit more time browsing the eclectic, vibrant and cheerful wares throughout the store. It's definitely worth your time to stop in and to be refreshed after some less-satisfying browsing in the plaza.

I was not terribly impressed with the caliber of shops in the vicinity of the Taos plaza. Mostly generic touristy trinkets and souvenirs. But At Home in Taos is an exception. Filled with adorable housewares and home decor, this is a great place to browse if you're looking to outfit your place with unique furnishings. I picked up an small owl figurine to add to my collection. So if you're suffering from southwestern decor overload, check out At Home in Taos for something different.

They have the most amazing merchandise, so much fun. Great customer service. Their merchandise is fun-loving and they also have the best selection of greeting cards for the "not-faint-of-heart"

I almost didn't enter this store because of the fake flower displays in the window. It looked somewhat like a Dollar Store. I'm glad that I finally decided to try it. I was surprised to find that most of the merchandise was high end and tasteful, including some French soaps that I haven't been able to find since I moved away from Washington State. It was fun to shop in this store. My husband even enjoyed looking around. The only negative was that the owner (I think she was the owner) was unfriendly. We were the only customers in the store, and she pretty much ignored us even when we tried to talk to her. It seemed that all she wanted to do was ring up the sale and get back to her phone calls. A lot more friendliness and getting rid of the fake flowers would do wonders.
