We got a baby grand! Free! Well, nearly free. Our kiddo's piano teacher heard about a 1930 Chickering baby grand that had to leave a north valley home because the couple living there was "downsizing" so she asked us if we wanted to claim it. Yup, you bet we did. Our little Yamaha had served its purpose, but c'mon, who wouldn't want one of these historical beauties in the living room? When it was delivered, I suddenly had my reservations. This is a review of the moving company so I guess I'll add relevant information: 1) I really enjoyed the friendly, knowledgeable movers, two of them moved everything in and out. They were not masked and in retrospect that's not cool, not during COVID. 2) They claimed they forgot to blow the dust out of the piano, which either was true or a slightly underhanded way to get me to send the piano to their studio to be reconditioned. 3) The price was about as expected, $300. The piano needed to be tuned, of course, with several chords replaced, so in the end we got a free baby grand for about $700.I blew out the dust -- wasn't bad -- and reconditioned the keys and wood myself and I gotta say, not bad for an amatuer. This thing looks and sounds great in our home, and this is a company you can trust to do a good job moving inner-city.

When I first called to inquire about moving an "upright grand" from Santa Fe to ABQ, I spoke to Rene who was very courteous and helpful. After calling a few other places and having 2 of those places recommend Albuquerque Piano and Organ when they we unable to make the delivery within the time line we needed, I booked them. The driver called when they were on the way to pick up the piano, and again with an ETA of when they would be at our house to deliver. The guys were very pleasant, professional, and knew what they were doing. Piano was perfectly placed and they even put floor protectors we had under the wheels of this beast because it is such a heavy piano. Would definitely use again and highly recommend.

I recently had a Grand Piano moved from Seattle to Santa Fe. When it arrived 4 screws were missing to attach the peddles to the cabinet. I was referred to this company by the National movers who moved the piano. When I spoke with Rene she assured me they would do the repair Dec 12th, that the technicians have various parts on the truck and this would be fairly straight forward repair. The Technician arrived barley spent 3 minutes and said he would be back the following Monday 12/19. Monday arrived I texted to ask a status and was told they were running behind. By 5pm I texted again basically saying, that their service had wasted an entire day waiting for service that obviously wasn't happening and with not so much of as a phone call, text or email is unacceptable. Rene immediately called and gave several excuses and promised she would follow up the following day. Since that call she has ghosted me. I Have since moved on to new repair company and strongly suggest you inquire elsewhere for any piano repair needs.

They moved my piano and they came on the wrong day! They charged me $50 more than they quoted on the phone. The movers couldn't put the pedals back on the piano properly and they broke a piece on the climate control system. They just seemed in a big hurry to get somewhere else. It was a fiasco!

Albuquerque Piano and Organ took our booking to move a piano off a stage for a Christmas concert. They told us they would arrive between 1 and 3pm. We had a piano tuner on standby for 3pm, and a stage manager waiting to set up an orchestra once the space was clear. 3pm came and went with no word. Finally, they called at 4pm to say that they were on a job in Santa Fe, and could they move the instrument the next day. The answer was no, as we had a full orchestral/choral rehearsal at 6:30, and were waiting for instrument to be relocated and then tuned. They said they would come right away. They did not show, and did not call. An intense rehearsal in a stressful season was made more so. Their lack of communication and unprofessionalism means that we will not recommend them to anyone.

Albuquerque Piano & Organ Service is the exclusive piano mover for The Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival. Martin Garcia and the people he works with are consummate professionals--they rise to every challenge, are entirely reliable, and are a delight to work with. ABQ Piano & Organ moves our Hamburg Steinway concert grands as well as all our other keyboard instruments and my trust in them is complete. They take deep pride in their work and it shows. After fifteen years working at Lincoln Center in NYC, meeting Martin and his crew when I arrived at the Festival in Santa Fe was one of my biggest delights. - Valerie Guy, Director of Artistic Administration, Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival
