Albuquerque International Sunport

ABQ airport, medium/smallish airport, currently under going a lot of renovations. Shuttle buses to rental car center (~5 min ride)Quick and easy to find baggage claim.Few coffee shops, a bar area and a decent variety of food spots with more on the way!

I was so impressed with the Albuquerque International Airport. It is so darn cute! And warm, welcoming, clean and efficiently run.Cute stores, cute restaurants, chile peppers and aliens all around.These are my people!I wish it was closer and easier to get to, but I hope to be back soon.

When it comes to flying in and out of Albuquerque, there are some serious pros and cons.The biggest pro is it is a relatively small airport and security is super fast in my experience. Especially if you have pre-check which is the best investment ever.The cons are mostly related to a smaller amount of direct flights and overall offerings. Especially now that they are under construction. There are very few places to grab a bite if you were waiting around. However, ideally, you're not waiting very long. I really hope with all of the construction that there will be some great options in the future. I can't wait to see what they do with the promises of more local shopping and businesses actually in the airport.So it is really time to take the international out of the name or actually give us some international flights back, that would be cool.

Took the shuttle bus after dropping off the work rental. The ride was nice and short. Security check was good as well went right through. I have TSA Pre Check which makes EVERYTHING so much easier.

The upgraded food court experience for holiday travel is just that upgraded!very spacious. One of my daughters commented "not a negative comment but it doesn't feel like the old Albuquerque Sunport" --- well said!

This airport truly teleports you into New Mexico. I loved the old town road feels, the turquoise touches, & native art everywhere.They have affordable souvenirs, & plenty of charging ports & seats. You can move around the airport smoothly, & dealing with ticketing & tsa is simple & quick. Overall a nice airport.

I suppose it's not a matter of recommending this place or not. If you have to come to Albuquerque, you have to come through here because there is no other option.First of all, I am not sure why they felt the need to call this airport a"Sunport." While this place does have a lot of sunshine, it doesn't even come close to other places with sunshine, like Arizona. I was once in an airport in Chicago when I overheard confusion between a gate agent and a passenger because the pastor had no idea what The Sunport was. Every time I hear it, I feel an involuntary hard role of my eyes LOL.Second of all, I cannot imagine what was going through the mind of the person who designed this airport floor. The floor is small tiles with 1/2-in grout lines. This is not a great thing when you have people with rolling luggage. With enough people walking down the hall it sounds like thunder. I'm sure it's not great on luggage either. It really is the most asinine choice for an airport floor. The good thing about this airport is that it's quite small and easy to navigate. Not a lot of people fly through here compared to some other airports, and It is a quick easy in and out.

A nice quiet airport. It's not as crowded as most airports. It's pretty clean but lacks the modern look and feel of other airports. Very easy to get around and TSA lines are never long!

For a little airport, it is making great improvements in security and added charging points for your electronic devices. Decent number of food choices and large clean restrooms with adequate capacity. Facilities Management could repair sinks that don't dispense water or soap and paper towels.

Easy airport flying in and out. No lounges. This airport is really close to the city, so it's pretty easy accessing the airport. The car rental is about 0.7 miles away, and there are free shuttles to get there. The signs make it easy to find. When I landed, it took me less than ten minutes to get on the car rental shuttle bus. It was that easy, and it was my first time there!The gates were actually really clean. Carpet, seats, restrooms were all clean. I found water refill stations by the bathrooms easily. I did run into an issue where the TSA x-ray machine wasn't working. I may have waited 5-10 minutes, so it wasn't bad. However, I felt they should have explained the situation instead of having everyone hold their hands on their heads wondering why their bags are stuck on the other side.
