I have been reading the yelp reviews in regards to the Albuquerque Grand for the last few months. I am a resident at the Grand. " you cannot please all of the people all of the time."If people are unhappy, as stated in previous reviews, they do not need to be here. They are free to move out at any time! Although this is one of the least expensive senior facilities in Albuquerque there is always friends and families that disgruntled residence can reach out to for help! Please, the writer and the people that have input with the writer of the negative reviews" have more respect for the residence and management. We are all doing the very best that we, management and residences should not have to put up with your nonsense. If you don't like it...GET OUT!!!Resident that is tired of reading your garbage. I can only hope that the writer of the negative reviews has moved out. I have not seen him for the last few days.

Carina Torres, Ronda Romero, and more are unscrupulous fraudsters. I recently visited Albuquerque Grand Senior Style Apartments at 1501 Tijeras Ave NE Albuquerque, NM 87106 because they were keeping my 89 year old mother's deposit despite learning that she entered hospice 3 days later. I ultimately sued them and was awarded the deposit and punitive damages. I couldn't believe that when I was talking to the manager, Ronda Romero, she had chocolate all over her face and hands much like a one year old would enjoy a birthday cake. Once she licked the cake from her fingers and face, she reached into her pockets and pulled out strips of bacon, which she was spitting at me while we talked. She kept reaching into her pockets for more food and candy. I can't think of any other words to describe her other than a barn yard animal that lives in its own filth. Trust me. Do not enter that place let alone sign anything or give money without a lawyer present. These people are so dishonest. You'll most likely get your money back eventually because there have been so many law suits against them, but they count on you not going to that much trouble. It's just a matter of numbers, because so many people don't fight. Probably because they are dead.

Beware- they took advantage of my mom, an elderly woman with memory problems, anxiety, and physical illness (found out she had terminal pancreatic cancer the day after she dropped off a check on January 12,2022. She told them she was serious about renting but wanted to wait until her daughter returned from travel before she signed paperwork. Despite being told her check would not be deposited, it was deposited on January 13,2022. My mom went to the emergency room on January 12, 2022 due to feeling ill and was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. I contacted Albuquerque Grand Senior Living on January 13, 2022 to inform Carina Torres, the Senior Solutions Specialist who had taken my mom's check, to tell her my mom was gravely ill and likely would not be able to move in. Carina assured me the check would not be deposited. Then we could not get the refund; people would not return calls, I stopped by and people would say they would look into it, the people we talked to either were no longer employed or changed email addresses. On March 9, 2023, Ronda Romero, General Manager, stated verbally and by telephone that Albuquerque Grand senior Living would not refund our money despite having no signed paperwork from my mom or anyone authorizing the deposit of the check. As of June 6, 2023, the check had still not been refunded. My emails and phone calls were not returned. On June 8, 2023 I filed a civil complaint in Albuquerque Metropolitan Court. A lawyer for Albuquerque Grand Senior Living called me and offered to refund the check. I had to ask for my court filing costs to be covered as well. The check for the refund and court costs was paid. I do not recommend this place, as you can see they take advantage of vulnerable elders and have terrible customer service and are rude and unprofessional. You have to resort to the legal system for them to act ethically.

The manager constantly whispers to the Jewish residents, "from the river to the sea and January 6 was a glorious day for Palestinians." Kitchen and maintenance staff churn is continuous. The food is horrible and frequently consists of nothing more than potato chips, sandwiches made of white bread, and cold cuts: no mustard or ketchup. It's barely enough to keep a person alive and healthy. Elevator breakdowns and water leaks are frequent. There have been several weeks of outdoor temperatures in the 90s, but air conditioning was only recently turned on. Building temperatures were extremely uncomfortable. The washers and dryers have never worked properly. Residents experience dining room chairs collapsing underneath them throwing seniors to the floor. Occupancy has been around 50% for many years. If you don't "expect" your love one to live more than a few months, this is a great place to hasten the process. Otherwise you should make the manager aware that you have a lawyer and New Mexico Adult Protective Services are monitoring their health if you know what I mean.

The management is horrible and the owner, who lives in Florida, won't spend money for needed repairs. The heating and cooling is done by circulating hot or cold water through a heat exchanger in the room. It's not a very comfortable way of heating or cooling a room. The whole system requires the hot or cold water to be shut off and switched to the other mode. So, you're either too hot or too cold by the time management decides it's time to switch.2023-03-12 There was no sign (one piece of paper) posted at the front desk to remind residents of the time change. This was important because many people missed breakfast. They previously posted a reminder of rent payments due. It shows a lack of consideration for seniors. It's just not good business relations either. Management has built a us versus them relationship.2023-03-10 The west building elevator broke. Residents who can't use stairs were either trapped in their rooms or trapped prevented from getting to their rooms for two days. So if you had an doctor appointment and you were trapped in your room, too bad. The east building elevator does work, but their is no connection between the two buildings. Anyone considering living here, should keep this in mind.2023-03-03 A Grand saleswoman was fired today. The occupancy is 30%. Meanwhile residents suffer for all amenities: washers-dryers not functioning properly, constant plumbing problems, heating-cooling, security, food quality, other known residents committing theft, Schuttle Van unsafe, emergency exit signs not accurate, dining room chairs collapsing, sewer gas smell in dining room, poor to no communication between management and residents. Management doesn't understand that we live here, but they get to go home to a comfortable environment. They are supposed to be managing the environment of seniors. That means temperature, food quailty, and safety. The present management fails all these.2023-02-28 Management went home knowing there wasn't going to be heat tonight and said nothing to anyone. There were no offers of a blanket or space heater. Most people may still not know what went on. There was no information passed down to residents.A resident hasn't had a working heater since she moved in the fall of 2022. She was given a space heater. She has never been offered to be moved to another room. Management won't fix the problem with the heater system, and refuses to move her to a room with a working heater without charging her a moving fee. The building has been at 30% occupancy since at least February 2022 when The Grand failed to obtain a license from the New Mexico Department of Health.2022-02-21 The activities coordinator and the assistant manager (soon to be manager) got into a physical fight in the building. The activities coordinator quit.2023-02-07 A resident was sitting in a dining room chair while eating lunch and the chair collapsed. Despite previous requests to management to fix or replace the chairs, nothing was done. Management usually calls Emergency Response, but this time they helped the person up off the floor and whisked the chair away in less than five minutes. Clearly they didn't want Emergency Response to record that a chair collapsed with a resident in it.experiencing2023-02-13 Another chair collapsed with a resident in it. The resident, was thrown to the floor.2022-12-08 The east elevator malfunctioned. People were trapped in their rooms and trapped from getting to their rooms prior to lunch. 2022-12-10 The elevator malfunctioned again trapping many people in their rooms and in the commons area on the ground floor. There is no connection between the east and west buildings except the ground floor. Most people can't use the stairs. The elevator inspection certificate is dated 2021-02-04.2022-12-13 There was no inspection certificate in the west elevator.2023-02-09 A new Inspection Certificate was posted in the elevators ... just two days after the State of New Mexico Investigative Case Worker visited, because a resident was experiencing abuse from management.Stay away from this place.

The air conditioning is NOT YET ON in apartments or anywhere else in the building. Outside air temperatures are now reaching the 80s. My room temperature is 82 ºF. Apartments facing south and west are very hot. We may soon have to call senior affairs again like 2022.The only remaining maintenance person, who has openly admitted he doesn't care about seniors, parks his truck in two parking places that are clearly signed as handicap parking zones. No staff member is trained in First Aid, and there are no automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in the building. It is actually The Grand's policy to maintain a hands-off approach and let the Ambulance Treat you or take you to the morgue. There are concerns that the deteriorating cast iron pipes for drinking water maybe poisoning seniors. Management's attitude is we're going to die anyway.

Yesterday a resident called the front desk between 6:30 am and 7:00 am, which is supposed to be staffed 24 hours. The resident needed help with her oxygen. No one answered. When the maintenance person showed up later this morning, he was approached by a different resident about not answering the phone. He said he didn't care. He could have said he didn't hear the phone ring, or the battery was dead, but instead he said he didn't care. So the only take away is, that he really didn't care. That puts people's lives at risk, and according to management he is being paid to respond to calls to the front desk.Food and drinks are being rationed. The reason is management can't fool enough people to move in. A large man is given the same amount as a small woman. There is a two drink maximum. A breakfast of Bacon and eggs consists of 1/2 cup of scrambled eggs and several pieces of bacon that frequently look like remnants scraped from the grill. If you get slices of bacon, consider yourself extremely fortunate.Empty rooms aren't inspected periodically. Fire detector batteries aren't checked or replaced. No one has ever changed the smoke detector battery in my room.A very old woman frequently soils herself. She has long ago forgotten the necessity of hygiene and washing your hands. She left a mess of pooh on a washer and dryer, and most likely on the elevator buttons, door knobs and etc. on her way back to her room on a different floor. The hand sanitizer dispenser in the laundry room has been empty for more than a year, and the laundry room utility sink has been permanently disabled.A resident likes to go dumpster diving in the neighborhood. He brings things back to his room including bed bugs.

The management is openly hostile toward jewish residents, but even more so since October 7, 2023. Management makes cruel remarks to jewish residents. Residents are dreadfully fearful of discussing the many complaints about the management, but Jewish residents are specifically intimidated. Beware the positive reviews on many websites. A lot of them sound like professional writers pumping up the ratings. It looks like there is a concerted effort to bury negative reviews and the web sites containing them. Read as many reviews as you can. Speak with lawyers who specialize in Senior Law and New Mexico Senior Affairs. The Grand is not a Better Business Bureau member. Why not? Visit The Albuquerque Grand Senior Living. Do your homework and decide for yourself.

Senior residents are not getting what they are paying for. We are given what management can afford, because they cannot fill all the vacancies. The building has 150 apartments. Only about 50 have been occupied for over a year, because the property is so run down and mismanaged. And, many apartments share a bathroom. Do you really want to share a bathroom? Consider your neighbor paints the toilet, you might have to wait a week before housekeeping cleans it. Nasty. You're heater/cooling fan control switch might be in an adacent room. Stupid but true. A clothes washer walks around the laundry room despite many, many, many requests to repair it. It frequently shuts itself off leaving clothes soaking wet. So you have to restart the spin cycle. Washing and drying your clothes can be an all day event.Food: It was called a Pot-Pie.There were two small slices of cucumber, six green beans and two small stalks of broccoli. There were a few small pieces (I mean small pieces) of carrot, and some unidentifiable creamy filler. I don't fault the kitchen manager. He's given an insufficient budget that provides no fruit, little vegetables, but high fat, pasta, and rice, and mystery meat. However, there are frequent sugary desserts that will agrivate your diabetes to no end. If you have dietary restrictions, this is the last place you want to live. It's a good idea to have your Will and Advanced Directive completed if you decide to stay here.Today was salisbury steak day. I went to dinner at 5:20pm. Serving is from 4:45pm to 6pm. I got a piece of salisbury steak (what is salisbury steak) that was about 2 inches in diameter and a quarter cup of mashed potatoes. They were already out of green beans. As usual, there was about 25 to 50 cents of food on my plate. It was so disappointing. It was a waste of time to go to the dining room. But, it's become common place. I will soon be looking for a different place to live. I'm paying $1900.00 for what. It's certainly not what I expected. I don't need a free cup-cake when someone has a birthday. The TV room is not available to watch TV, because it doesn't connect. This place is so messed-up. Pay a little more to get comfortable temperatures and nutritious food without all the abuse from the management.

Every indication to me is that the property is headed toward bankruptcy.2023-03-31 All the dinner servers quit, so management staff are serving dinner to residents. I'm not sure how this affects breakfast and lunch for the following days. The manager left at 5 PM. A female staff member is leaving Wednesday, April 5. She has been here for several years. She is the only one with any personality. This place is going down the tubes quickly.2023-0-31 The fire/smoke detectors outside the laundry room on the second floor of the east building are no longer beeping. Did they finally quit working after months (since October 2022) of beeping or did someone repair them?
